The Galaxy Tab S10 FE is the better fit if you want an included stylus, microSD expansion, or a tablet with a published dust- and water-resistance rating. The iPad (A16) makes more sense if you prefer Apple’s ecosystem or rely on Apple Pencil apps—but you must buy a Pencil separately. Neither is a universal winner: compare current local prices, storage, and the accessories your work requires.

How do the displays compare?
Samsung specifies a 10.9-inch LCD with refresh rates up to 90 Hz for the Tab S10 FE. Apple describes the iPad (A16) as having an 11-inch Liquid Retina LED-backlit IPS display, with a resolution of 2360 by 1640 pixels at 264 ppi, True Tone, and 500-nit brightness. Apple’s cited specifications do not state the iPad’s refresh rate, so the available figures do not support a complete refresh-rate comparison. Nor do specifications alone establish which display looks better in person.
Does either tablet perform better?
The Tab S10 FE uses Samsung’s Exynos 1580; the iPad (A16) has an A16 chip with a 5-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a tested ranking. No matched benchmark, gaming test, or battery comparison is established here, so choose based on software and workload needs rather than treating the chip names as proof of a winner.

Galaxy Tab S10 FE: S Pen included
Samsung lists an S Pen in the box, which makes the Tab S10 FE the straightforward option if you want to start handwriting without a separate stylus purchase. Samsung also describes Samsung Notes features including Math Solver and Handwriting Assist. iPad (A16): Apple Pencil sold separately
The iPad (A16) supports Apple Pencil (USB-C) and Apple Pencil (1st generation). Apple says the first-generation Pencil requires a USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter for pairing and charging. Because Apple’s listed box contents are the iPad, a USB-C charge cable, and a 20W USB-C power adapter, include the Pencil model and any needed adapter when comparing the cost of a note-taking setup. How much storage can you add?
Samsung lists the Tab S10 FE in 128 GB and 256 GB internal-storage configurations and supports microSD cards up to 2 TB. The card is sold separately on Samsung’s Australian product page, and availability can vary by market. Apple’s cited iPad specification page does not describe expandable storage; if you need more local capacity, check the iPad configuration available in your region before purchase. Is the Tab S10 FE waterproof?
No. Samsung gives it an IP68 rating based on laboratory testing for submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Samsung cautions that water resistance is not permanent and does not advise using it at the beach or pool. Treat the rating as a limited resistance specification, not permission for intentional immersion. The cited Apple specifications do not state an equivalent dust- or water-resistance rating. What do they cost, and what accessories are extra?
Samsung announced US launch prices of $499.99 for the Wi-Fi Tab S10 FE and $599.99 for the 5G model, with 128 GB and 256 GB storage options. Those are historical launch prices from April 2025, not current 2026 street prices. Current pricing and promotion-adjusted value for either tablet are not established here; compare local listings for the same storage and connectivity configuration.

The S Pen is listed in the Tab S10 FE box, while an Apple Pencil is not listed with the iPad. Samsung lists keyboard covers, a Smart Book Cover, and an anti-reflecting screen protector as accessories; its Australian page says the keyboard covers are sold separately. Apple points to keyboard and case accessories but does not establish a keyboard as bundled with the iPad. What about connectivity, cameras, and weight?
Both manufacturers list Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Samsung offers a 5G version; Apple lists 5G for Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad models. Samsung specifies a 13 MP rear camera and 12 MP ultra-wide front camera, while Apple lists a 12 MP rear camera and a landscape 12 MP Center Stage front camera. Megapixel counts do not establish comparative photo quality.

Published manufacturer weights vary by market and model: Samsung Australia lists 497 g for the Wi-Fi Tab S10 FE; Apple lists 477 g for the Wi-Fi iPad (A16) and 481 g for Wi-Fi + Cellular. How long will each tablet receive updates?
Samsung Australia lists the Tab S10 FE security update period as valid until April 30, 2032. That is a figure from an Australian product listing and should not be assumed to apply identically in every market. Apple’s cited technical specification page does not state a support end date, so it does not establish a like-for-like support-longevity comparison. How to make the final choice
- Choose your software home. If you rely on Apple devices or Apple Pencil workflows, start with the iPad. If you prefer Samsung’s Android experience, start with the Tab S10 FE.
- Price the setup you will actually use. Compare the same storage and Wi-Fi or cellular configuration, then add the stylus, keyboard, case, or storage card you need.
- Match features to your environment. Prioritize Samsung if microSD expansion or its specified IP68 rating matters; treat that water-resistance rating within Samsung’s stated limits.
- Check current local availability and price. Launch pricing and region-specific specifications do not guarantee today’s price, bundle, or package contents.
