Choose the Galaxy Tab S10 FE if you want Samsung’s newer processor and the price difference is small. Choose the Galaxy Tab S9 FE if it costs meaningfully less for a comparable configuration and its features meet your needs. Both standard FE tablets have a 10.9-inch LCD with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, so the clearest generation difference in the available specifications is the processor—not a larger or faster-refreshing screen.
Galaxy Tab S10 FE vs. S9 FE: key differences
| Specification | Galaxy Tab S10 FE | Galaxy Tab S9 FE | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | Exynos 1580, identified in Samsung’s 2025 launch materials. Samsung source | Exynos 1380, identified on Samsung’s product page. Samsung source | The S10 FE has the newer chipset generation. The cited materials do not establish a quantified real-world speed advantage. |
| Display | 10.9-inch LCD, up to 90Hz. Samsung US specifications | 10.9-inch display with adaptive refresh rate up to 90Hz. Samsung source | On size and maximum refresh rate, the listed experience is broadly similar. Neither is the FE choice for shoppers seeking a larger display or premium AMOLED. |
| Resolution | 2304 × 1440 on the cited US SKU. Samsung US specifications | A comparable resolution was not established in the cited S9 FE materials. | Check the exact regional model before treating resolution as a deciding difference. |
| Memory and storage | Samsung’s launch specifications list 8GB RAM/128GB and 12GB RAM/256GB configurations; microSD expansion up to 2TB. Samsung source | Comparable configurations were not established in the cited materials. | Availability can vary by region and Wi-Fi or 5G variant; compare the exact listings, not just the model names. |
| Battery and weight | 8,000mAh typical capacity; 497g for Wi-Fi and 500g for 5G, per Samsung’s 2025 launch table. Samsung’s US specifications estimate up to 20 hours of video playback; actual runtime varies. Launch specifications US specifications | Comparable figures were not established in the cited materials. | These S10 FE figures describe specific manufacturer specifications and an estimated playback maximum, not a guarantee of everyday battery life. |
| S Pen and durability | Samsung says the S Pen is included and the tablet is IP68 rated. Its rating footnote describes laboratory submersion in fresh water up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, cautions against beach or pool use, and says resistance may diminish with wear. Samsung product page | Package and durability details for every regional S9 FE variant were not independently established in the cited materials. | Confirm what is included with the local listing. IP68 is not a promise of permanent waterproofing or suitability for beach and pool use. |
| Keyboard cover | Samsung’s March 2026 US MSRP list names the EF-DX720 Book Cover Keyboard Slim. Samsung US accessory list | The same Samsung list names the EF-DX720 for the S9 FE. Samsung US accessory list | Check the part number and regional listing before buying; accessory availability can differ by market. |
What actually changes between the generations?
The S10 FE’s newer processor is the main known upgrade
Samsung identifies the S10 FE’s processor as Exynos 1580 and the S9 FE’s as Exynos 1380. That establishes a chipset-generation change, but it does not tell you how much faster the newer tablet will feel in a particular app. The available sources do not provide controlled comparative benchmarks, so a specific performance percentage would be misleading.
If you keep tablets for several years, use demanding apps, or simply prefer buying the newer generation, the S10 FE is the more straightforward pick—provided its premium is reasonable. If your use is mostly browsing, video, reading, and note-taking, weigh the actual price gap rather than assuming the newer chip alone makes the S9 FE a poor buy.

The display specifications are similar in size and refresh rate
Both models are listed with a 10.9-inch display and a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz. That means the S10 FE is not an obvious screen-size or refresh-rate upgrade over the S9 FE. Samsung lists 2304 × 1440 resolution for the cited US S10 FE SKU, but a directly comparable S9 FE resolution was not available in the cited materials. Verify regional specifications if resolution is central to your choice.

Who should buy the Galaxy Tab S10 FE?
- Buy the S10 FE when its price premium is modest: You get Samsung’s newer Exynos 1580 chipset, with no need to infer an unsupported speed percentage.
- Choose it if you want a listed higher-memory configuration: Samsung’s launch specifications include a 12GB RAM/256GB option alongside 8GB/128GB, although availability depends on market and variant.
- Consider it for long-term ownership: A newer model may be preferable if you value having the later chipset generation, but this alone does not establish how long software support will last.
- Check what the package includes: Samsung says the S Pen is included, but confirm the details on the exact local product listing.
Who should buy the Galaxy Tab S9 FE?
- Buy the S9 FE when it is substantially cheaper: A verified discount can make the older model better value if the 10.9-inch, up-to-90Hz display and its capabilities suit your workload.
- Consider it for everyday tablet use: For tasks that do not depend on having the newest chipset, compare the savings against the S10 FE’s newer processor rather than treating model year as the only measure of value.
- Check the exact SKU and bundle: Storage, connectivity, and included accessories can differ by region and listing; do not assume every S9 FE package matches another market’s version.
How to compare prices fairly
- Compare the same country and current stock. Prices and availability change by market and retailer. The historical Samsung US listing cited for the S10 FE showed $549.99 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model three months before the research date; that is not a current-price quote. A like-for-like current S9 FE street price was not established.
- Match storage and memory. Compare equivalent capacities where possible. An S10 FE 12GB/256GB listing is not directly comparable to an S9 FE with a different memory or storage configuration.
- Match connectivity. Compare Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi or 5G with 5G, and include any difference in mobile-data capability in your decision.
- Include the bundle and accessories. Confirm S Pen inclusion and keyboard-cover compatibility for the exact regional product. Samsung’s US list names the EF-DX720 Book Cover Keyboard Slim for both models, but verify the current local listing before purchasing.
- Choose based on the price gap. If the S10 FE costs only a little more, its newer chipset is a sensible reason to favor it. If the S9 FE is notably cheaper and meets your needs, the savings can matter more than the generation change.
Check the exact model before you order
Samsung’s product information spans regional variants, so configurations and bundle contents are not universal. Confirm the model number, RAM and storage, Wi-Fi or 5G connectivity, local price, and any accessory part number on the seller’s page. For microSD expansion on the S10 FE, Samsung lists support up to 2TB; confirm card and device requirements before buying a card.
