A leak says the unannounced Galaxy S27 Ultra could weigh 218 g—four grams more than Samsung’s official 214 g figure for the Galaxy S26 Ultra—while staying the same 7.9 mm thick. The possible reasons cited are a larger silicon-carbon battery or built-in Qi2-related magnets, but Samsung has confirmed neither the specifications nor an explanation.
What the weight report actually says
Tom’s Guide reported on September 30, 2026, that leaker Ice Universe puts the Galaxy S27 Ultra at 218 g and 7.9 mm thick. Those figures are unconfirmed; Samsung has not announced the S27 Ultra’s specifications. If the report is accurate, the phone would be four grams heavier than the S26 Ultra at the same listed thickness.
For comparison, Samsung’s official Galaxy S26 Ultra specifications list dimensions of 78.1 × 163.6 × 7.9 mm and a weight of 214 g. Samsung notes that weight may vary by country or region. Its listed battery capacity is 5,000 mAh typical; Samsung gives 4,855 mAh as the rated minimum capacity and explains that typical capacity is an estimate.
Why might the S27 Ultra weigh more?
The report offers two possible explanations, not confirmed components or a stated Samsung rationale.

A higher-capacity silicon-carbon battery
Tom’s Guide says a rumored 5,700 mAh silicon-carbon battery could explain added mass without increasing thickness. Samsung has not confirmed either the battery chemistry or the capacity. Even if a capacity figure is eventually confirmed, it would not by itself establish longer battery life; that depends on the finished phone and its real-world power use.
Built-in magnets for Qi2-style charging
The same report says Samsung may add magnets to support a full Qi2 wireless-charging experience without a special case. That feature is also unconfirmed, and the report does not say how much the magnets would weigh. Compatibility with any future charger, mount, or case will need to be checked against the released phone and the specific accessory.

Samsung’s recent weight and thickness trade-off
Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter interim report lists the Galaxy S25 Ultra at 218 g and 8.2 mm, compared with the S26 Ultra at 214 g and 7.9 mm. The company says the S26 achieved its thinner profile through an “optimized mounting structure and lighter components.” That is useful context for how Samsung has approached Ultra-series design, but it does not explain the rumored S27 weight.
What to watch for if Samsung confirms the rumor
A meaningful comparison will require more than a capacity or weight number. Look for confirmed measurements and testing of battery life, charging standards and speed, and accessory compatibility. Until Samsung publishes the S27 Ultra’s specifications, the reported four-gram increase and its proposed causes should be treated as leaks, not a settled trade-off.
