The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the more advanced phone on paper, with a higher-resolution AMOLED display, four rear cameras and storage options up to 1TB. Motorola’s US-listed moto g max has a 7,000mAh battery, a 120Hz LCD and a simpler two-camera rear system. There is no reliable universal price difference: the comparison depends on country, exact Moto G Max variant, storage, seller and date.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra vs Moto G Max 5G: key specs
This table compares Samsung’s published Galaxy S26 Ultra specifications with Motorola’s official US moto g max support-page specifications. Motorola says some specifications vary by market, so the Moto figures should not be assumed to describe every phone sold under a similar name.

Which phone has the better display?
The Galaxy S26 Ultra has the stronger display specification: its 6.9-inch panel is QHD+ and uses AMOLED technology, with an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. The US moto g max has a slightly smaller 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and a listed high-brightness mode of up to 1,050 nits. The Motorola screen still offers a high refresh rate; Samsung’s listed advantages are panel type and resolution.

Camera comparison: more hardware on Samsung, not a guaranteed photo verdict
Samsung lists four rear cameras, including two telephoto cameras with 3x and 5x optical zoom, alongside the 200MP wide and 50MP ultrawide cameras. Motorola’s US specification lists a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. That gives Samsung more dedicated camera hardware and zoom options on paper, but megapixel counts and camera-module counts do not establish which phone takes better pictures. No matched camera test is established here.
Performance, memory and storage
The listed processors and memory configurations put the S26 Ultra in a higher specification tier: Samsung identifies the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and lists 12GB RAM configurations, with 16GB in the 1TB model. Motorola’s US page lists a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Samsung offers 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage configurations, subject to regional availability. These specifications do not substitute for a head-to-head benchmark, so they should not be read as measured speed results.

Battery capacity and charging
Motorola lists a 7,000mAh battery and 30W TurboPower charging for the US moto g max. Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery for the S26 Ultra. The Motorola’s stated capacity is larger, but capacity alone cannot establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use; that depends on factors including display use, network conditions and software. No comparable battery-endurance test is available here.

Software support and durability
Motorola’s US specification page states two OS upgrades and three years of security patches for the moto g max. These are distinct promises: OS upgrades refer to major Android-version updates, while security patches address security fixes. Secondary comparison material reports up to seven years of OS updates for the S26 Ultra, but that figure should be confirmed against the Samsung commitment for the specific market before relying on it.

Motorola lists an IP64 water-resistant design. The cited Samsung announcement excerpt does not establish a water-resistance rating, so these sources do not support a full durability ranking. Check the exact regional product specifications and conditions if water resistance is a deciding factor.
Price difference: why there is no single global figure
PhoneArena lists a US$1,300 MSRP for the Galaxy S26 Ultra with 256GB. That is a listed MSRP snapshot, not a universal current selling price. The available Moto G Max price information does not establish an authoritative current retail price for a matching US configuration. Indian comparison pages show prices in rupees, but they cannot be subtracted from a US-dollar figure or treated as a worldwide price gap.

To calculate a useful difference, compare the same country and date, use the exact Moto G Max variant sold there, match storage as closely as possible, and use prices from comparable sellers. Account for whether each amount is an MSRP, promotion or live retail price. Without those aligned details, any single “price difference” risks comparing unlike products or markets.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra if you want the higher-resolution AMOLED display, dedicated telephoto cameras, more listed RAM and storage tiers, or a premium-class specification package.
- Consider the US moto g max if a larger stated battery capacity, 120Hz LCD or 30W charging better fits your priorities, and its more limited listed memory and camera hardware are acceptable.
- Check the exact regional model first if you are buying a Moto G Max outside the US. Comparison sites report conflicting Moto G Max configurations, including different chipsets, memory, batteries and launch details. Do not combine those figures as if they describe one phone; use a matching official Motorola regional listing.
Samsung’s announcement says the Galaxy S26 series pre-order period begins February 25, 2026. That is an announcement of a pre-order start, not a statement of a universal street price or current availability. Samsung Global Newsroom [c001]
