The Galaxy S26+ is a strong large-screen Samsung flagship. Its 6.7-inch QHD+ display, good battery life, and strong performance are its main strengths. Its weak points are value: it is an incremental step up from the S25+, its U.S. starting price has risen since launch, and its camera hardware is less ambitious than the S26 Ultra’s. It makes the most sense for buyers who want a bigger screen than the S26 without an S Pen or Ultra-level cameras.

Display: the strongest reason to buy

The S26+ uses a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with adaptive refresh up to 120Hz, according to Samsung’s specifications. Samsung lists peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits for the S26 series. That is a manufacturer figure, not a measured typical brightness, so treat it as a ceiling rather than an everyday number.

GSMArena’s review calls the display a high-quality LTPO AMOLED panel and counts it among the phone’s premium traits. The same review lists three display drawbacks: no 10-bit display depth, high-frequency PWM (pulse-width modulation, a backlight flicker technique that some sensitive viewers notice as eye strain), and no Dolby Vision support.

  • Pro: large, sharp QHD+ screen with adaptive refresh up to 120Hz.
  • Con (GSMArena review finding): no 10-bit depth, high-frequency PWM, and no Dolby Vision support.

Battery and charging: good, with numbers that need context

Samsung’s UK comparison page claims up to 31 hours of video playback for the S26+. That is a manufacturer claim. Tom’s Guide recorded 13 hours 13 minutes in its own battery test. The two figures come from different test methods, so they should not be read as a direct comparison. GSMArena rates the battery life as very good in its own testing. The battery capacity is 4,900mAh.

Charging is less impressive. GSMArena notes that faster wireless charging is one of the few hardware changes from the S25+, but it also says the S26+ charges more slowly than some competitors when plugged in by cable.

  • Pro: 4,900mAh battery with very good endurance in GSMArena’s testing.
  • Con: wired charging speeds lag some competitors, according to GSMArena.

Performance: check which chip your phone uses

The S26+ is not one chip across all markets. Tom’s Guide reports that the U.S. version uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, while many other markets, including the U.K., get the Exynos 2600. GSMArena’s review specifically tested the Exynos 2600 model and found sustained CPU performance strong. Its findings should not be assumed to apply to the Snapdragon version.

Cameras: capable, but largely inherited

The rear camera system is a 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP 3x telephoto combination, according to Samsung’s specifications. Tom’s Guide says the camera hardware carries over from the S25+ with software changes. The S26+ does not have the Ultra’s multiple telephoto cameras, and the Ultra also offers additional video capabilities, according to GSMArena and Samsung’s comparison.

GSMArena’s strongest camera praise goes to the selfie camera, which has autofocus, and to the video tools, including LUT support and Horizon Lock. The same review says the S26+ lacks some Ultra video modes and describes the Night mode implementation as unintuitive.

Software support

GSMArena reports seven years of Android updates and security patches. The length of support can vary by region, so confirm Samsung’s update policy for your country before relying on that figure.

Price: the biggest drawback

Price is where the S26+ is hardest to defend. GSMArena describes it as a minor upgrade over the S25+, and calls the two phones nearly identical. Changes include the new chipset, slight design changes, and faster wireless charging.

S26+ compared with the S26 and S26 Ultra

Most buying decisions come down to three choices: the S26, the S26+, or the Ultra. The table lists only the values confirmed in the sources used here. Where a cell is blank in the sources, it says so.

Feature Galaxy S26 Galaxy S26+ Galaxy S26 Ultra
Display size 6.3 inches 6.7 inches, QHD+, adaptive up to 120Hz 6.9 inches
Rear cameras 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto (per Samsung) 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto (per Samsung) Additional high-resolution and telephoto hardware (exact specifications not stated in the sources used here)
S Pen Not stated in the sources Not included Included, per the Ultra’s positioning in the sources
Battery Not stated in the sources 4,900mAh Not stated in the sources
U.S. launch starting price Not stated in the sources $1,099.99 (February 2026 launch) Not stated in the sources

Who should buy the S26+, and who should not

The S26+ is a good choice if you want a larger screen than the S26 and do not need an S Pen or the Ultra’s extra telephoto hardware. It is a weaker choice if you mainly want a cheaper phone, because the S26 costs less, or if you want the best camera system, because the Ultra offers more. Buyers who already own an S25+ will get only modest changes for the price.

  • Buy the S26+ if you want a 6.7-inch screen, long battery life, and do not need an S Pen.
  • Consider the S26 if a smaller phone and a lower price matter more than screen size.
  • Consider the Ultra if you want an S Pen, extra telephoto hardware, or the Ultra’s additional video modes.

Confirm the chip, current price, and regional update policy for your country before you buy.
