The Samsung Galaxy S25 has the lower listed U.S. starting price: AT&T showed it at $799.99 versus $1,199.99 for the Apple iPhone 18 Pro, a $400 difference before promotions or trade-ins. The iPhone offers more listed storage options, a slightly larger display, and different camera hardware. Neither phone is a universal winner: your preferred platform, storage needs, and priorities matter, and the cited specifications do not establish a camera, performance, or battery-life winner.

Prices and selected specs in this table come from AT&T’s U.S. comparison page accessed in 2026; the iPhone specifications also appear on Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro technical specifications page and Apple’s September 2026 announcement. Storage, retailer, carrier, and timing can change the price you actually pay. Display diagonal measurements also do not equal usable screen area: Samsung and Apple account for rounded corners and measurement conventions differently.

How much more does the iPhone 18 Pro cost?
AT&T’s 2026-accessed U.S. listing gives the Galaxy S25 a $799.99 retail starting price and the iPhone 18 Pro a $1,199.99 starting price. The iPhone’s listed starting price is therefore $400 higher on that comparison—not a universal market-price gap. Apple’s September 2026 release separately gives the iPhone 18 Pro a U.S. starting price of $1,199.
These are listed retail starting prices, not guaranteed checkout prices. AT&T also presents installment terms and conditional promotional offers; its iPhone monthly offer depends on eligible plan and trade-in conditions. Check the current price, required plan, trade-in eligibility, and whether the phone is locked before buying. Compare phones with the same storage capacity where possible: the S25 listing includes a 128GB tier, while the iPhone 18 Pro begins at 256GB.

Display size and handling
The listed diagonal is 6.2 inches for Galaxy S25 and 6.3 inches for iPhone 18 Pro. That one-tenth-inch difference is small on paper, and diagonal figures alone do not establish which phone feels easier to hold or which offers more usable screen area. Both manufacturers note that rounded corners affect the viewable area relative to a full rectangular measurement. If one-handed use or pocket fit is decisive, compare the physical devices rather than treating the diagonal as a complete measure.
Camera hardware: different reach and controls
The listed rear-camera setups differ in both resolution and lens options. Galaxy S25 pairs a 50MP wide camera with a 10MP 3x optical telephoto and a 12MP ultrawide. iPhone 18 Pro lists a 48MP main camera with variable aperture, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP 4x telephoto; it also lists an 8x optical-quality mode.
Those specifications describe hardware and modes, not which phone takes better photos or video. The available sources do not provide a controlled image-quality comparison. Apple’s launch announcement says variable aperture is intended to offer more versatility and control, but that is Apple’s marketing statement rather than independent evidence of a quality advantage. Choose based on the camera range or controls you expect to use, and consult comparable sample images if image results are your deciding factor.

Processor and performance
The Galaxy S25 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, while the iPhone 18 Pro uses Apple’s A20 Pro. The processor names do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use: the cited material contains no direct benchmark comparison.
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro achieves up to a 40 percent sustained-performance gain compared with the previous-generation iPhone 17 Pro. That is Apple’s own generational comparison, not a head-to-head result against Galaxy S25, so it should not be used to claim that the iPhone outperforms the Samsung in a direct test.

AT&T lists Galaxy S25 configurations with 128GB and 256GB. Apple lists iPhone 18 Pro at 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. The iPhone therefore has more listed capacity tiers and a higher maximum; the S25’s lower starting price also corresponds to a listed 128GB configuration. Your actual options and prices depend on retailer and availability, so compare the same capacity before treating the starting-price gap as an equivalent-value comparison.
Battery and durability evidence
The battery figures available here use different measures. AT&T lists a 4,000mAh battery and talk-time figures for Galaxy S25. Apple claims up to 36 hours of video playback for the eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro, based on Apple’s August 2026 tests of preproduction devices using a representative usage profile. A battery-capacity figure, talk time, and a manufacturer’s video-playback estimate are not comparable tests, so they do not show which phone lasts longer in matched daily use.

For water resistance, Apple specifies IP68 for iPhone 18 Pro, with a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes under IEC 60529. The cited comparison excerpts do not establish the Galaxy S25’s water-resistance rating, so this evidence cannot support a like-for-like durability conclusion.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose Galaxy S25 if
- You want the lower listed U.S. starting price and are comfortable with the available storage tier.
- You prefer Samsung’s Android platform or already use devices and services that fit that ecosystem.
- A 3x optical telephoto lens matches your preferred camera range.
Choose iPhone 18 Pro if
- You prefer iOS or already rely on Apple devices and services.
- You want storage options starting at 256GB and extending to 2TB.
- You value the listed variable-aperture main camera, 4x telephoto, or 8x optical-quality mode.
The platform and workflow you prefer may matter more than small differences in display diagonal or a price comparison between unmatched storage tiers. Before deciding, check the current price and eligibility conditions, compare the storage capacities you would actually buy, and consider which camera range and operating system fit your use.
