Choose the Galaxy S25+ if you want a larger, sharper screen, more battery capacity, faster wired charging, and 256GB of starting storage in the cited US configurations. Choose the Galaxy S25 if compact size, lighter weight, and a lower entry price matter more. Their processor, listed camera hardware, water-resistance rating, and Samsung’s software-support promise are substantially shared, so the Plus is not a camera or everyday-speed upgrade.

This comparison focuses on US unlocked models; prices, storage, cellular bands, and availability can differ by region and carrier. Samsung’s specifications and buying pages are linked where relevant. Price observations are snapshots, not guaranteed current offers.

Galaxy S25 vs. S25+: the main differences

The S25+ is chiefly an upgrade in screen size and resolution, battery capacity, wired charging speed, and starting storage. The S25 is smaller and lighter. Both use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy in the cited US materials and have the same listed rear- and front-camera arrangement.

Size and comfort: workspace versus one-handed use

Why the Galaxy S25 suits compact-phone buyers

At 162g and 70.5mm wide, the S25 is the easier of the two to carry and manage one-handed. Its smaller footprint can make typing, reaching upper-screen controls, and using the phone while walking or commuting less awkward. Choose it if you already prefer compact phones, have smaller hands, or carry your phone in a tight pocket.

Why the Galaxy S25+ suits large-screen users

The S25+ is 190g and 75.8mm wide. That extra size gives video, maps, games, documents, and on-screen keyboards more room, but the phone can feel less comfortable during prolonged one-handed use. The 28g weight and 5.3mm width differences are more consequential to handling than the 0.1mm thickness difference. Samsung’s measurements are listed in the official specification PDF.

Display: the S25+ is bigger and sharper

Both models use Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz, according to Samsung. The S25 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ panel; the S25+ has a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ panel. Samsung measures those diagonals across the full rectangle, so its listed effective sizes accounting for rounded corners are 6.0 and 6.5 inches, respectively.

FHD+ is a practical resolution for ordinary phone use. Quad HD+ gives the larger Plus screen more pixels, which can make fine text and interface details look sharper. The main benefit is the combination of added workspace and higher resolution—not a higher refresh-rate ceiling.

Battery and charging: the clearest functional case for the Plus

Capacity is not the same as battery life

Samsung lists typical battery capacities of 4000mAh for the S25 and 4900mAh for the S25+. The rated capacities are 3885mAh and 4755mAh, respectively. Keep those measurement types separate: typical capacity is not the same figure as rated capacity.

The larger S25+ battery gives it a capacity advantage, but it does not establish a fixed number of extra hours. The Plus also powers a larger, higher-resolution display. Brightness, refresh settings, 5G signal, gaming, GPS, camera recording, and hotspot use all affect endurance. Heavy users who regularly run low before the day ends have more reason to favor the S25+; light users may prefer the S25’s smaller body.

45W versus 25W wired charging

The S25 supports up to 25W wired charging, while the S25+ supports up to 45W. Samsung’s launch announcement gives approximate charging figures of 50% in around 30 minutes for the S25 with a 25W adapter and 65% in around 30 minutes for the S25+ with a 45W adapter. Those are Samsung’s figures under its stated test conditions, not a guarantee for every charger, cable, temperature, or battery level. Peak wattage also does not mean the phone draws that power continuously.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The cited S25+ listing says a charger is not included. Check the exact package for the model and region you buy. A suitable USB-C Power Delivery/PPS adapter and compatible cable may be needed to reach supported speeds; an existing charger may not provide the required profile. Wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare are shared features, so the Plus’s advantage here is wired charging speed, not a distinct wireless-charging class. Cameras: do not buy the S25+ expecting better photos

The listed camera hardware is the same on both phones: a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto with 3× optical zoom, and 12MP front camera. The Plus does not add a telephoto lens or step up to a higher-resolution camera system in Samsung’s cited specifications. Its sharper display is not evidence of better camera output.

Differences in software, exposure, or conditions can affect individual photos, but the listed hardware does not make the S25+ the logical camera upgrade. If substantially stronger imaging or an S Pen is your priority, compare the S25 Ultra separately; Samsung identifies the S Pen as an Ultra feature in its S25-series business specification sheet.

Performance, software, and shared features

Everyday performance and gaming

Both cited US models use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, so routine speed is not a sound reason by itself to pay for the Plus. Its bigger screen can make games easier to see and control, while the S25 is lighter to reposition. Battery capacity alone does not establish which model performs better during long gaming sessions; that requires testing under comparable conditions.

Software support and Galaxy AI

Samsung announced seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the S25 series, measured from global launch. That is a shared support promise, not a Plus-model benefit. Samsung also describes the series as launching with Android 15 and One UI 7; software versions and feature availability can change over time.

Galaxy AI availability may depend on region, language, Samsung account, network access, or feature-specific terms. Do not assume every feature is available everywhere or permanently free; check Samsung’s current terms for the feature you plan to use. Samsung’s support commitment and launch-era details are in its S25-series announcement.

Other shared capabilities

Samsung lists IP68 water and dust resistance for the series. Its launch description specifies laboratory freshwater submersion up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes; this is not waterproofing or a promise against damage from salt water, chlorinated water, pressure, wear, or a drop. Avoid charging a wet phone. DeX, USB-C, wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare are also listed for the series. Connectivity bands, SIM behavior, and some configurations can vary by regional model, so check the exact model code before buying. See Samsung’s launch announcement.

Storage and US price: compare matching configurations

The S25 may be configured with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB in the cited US materials, while the S25+ starts at 256GB and is also listed at 512GB. More storage is useful if you keep many photos and videos, install large games, or save media offline. Buyers planning to keep a phone for years should consider whether 128GB will suit their habits; the support promise does not itself determine how much space they need.

Samsung US price signals in the cited buying pages showed $999.99 for an unlocked 256GB S25+ and $1,119.99 for a 512GB S25+. A Samsung page also showed an S25 configuration at $799.99, but that figure is not safely comparable without confirming the exact storage and model code. These are page snapshots, not verified current offers. Promotions, trade-in eligibility, carrier bill credits, financing, and taxes can change the amount paid.

  • Compare the same storage tier where possible; a 128GB S25 versus a 256GB S25+ is not a like-for-like price comparison.
  • Check the selected capacity, unlocked or carrier status, model code, and whether the shown amount is a cash price or promotion.
  • Include a compatible charger in the comparison if you need one for the S25+.

For the relevant configurations, see Samsung’s S25+ 256GB buying page, S25+ 512GB buying page, and S25 product page. Check Samsung or your chosen retailer for the price and configuration available when you purchase.

Which Galaxy should you buy?

Choose the Galaxy S25 if…

  • You want a compact flagship that is shorter, narrower, and lighter.
  • You type one-handed or find large phones uncomfortable in a pocket or bag.
  • You are happy with an FHD+ screen and do not need the larger display.
  • You want to spend less and can find the right storage configuration at an acceptable price.
  • You want the shared processor, camera arrangement, and support promise without paying for the Plus’s screen and charging advantages.

Choose the Galaxy S25+ if…

  • You spend a lot of time reading, watching, navigating, gaming, or working on your phone.
  • You want a larger Quad HD+ screen and more on-screen space.
  • You value more battery capacity and faster wired top-ups.
  • You want 256GB as the starting point in the cited US configurations.
  • You want a large Samsung flagship but do not need the S25 Ultra’s S Pen or camera system.

When neither is the right fit

Do not choose the S25+ solely for better cameras: the listed camera hardware is shared. Consider the S25 Ultra if you specifically need its S Pen or more capable camera hardware. A Galaxy S25 FE may suit someone seeking a large Samsung phone at a lower price, but its processor, cameras, and other specifications differ and should be checked separately. If you are buying in 2026, compare current-generation Samsung offers as well; the S25’s value depends on the price and alternatives available at checkout.
