The September 2024 report that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra would get a design and camera update was partly right. Samsung later confirmed the predicted 50 MP ultrawide and the phone’s dimensions, but specified a weight of 218 g rather than 219 g and announced a different chipset name: Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy. Samsung unveiled the phone on January 22, 2025.
What the 2024 report predicted
MobileSyrup’s September 11, 2024 article, citing Android Headlines and OnLeaks, described a rumored S25 Ultra with flatter sides and updated cameras. These were predictions at the time, not confirmed specifications. The report expected a 50 MP ultrawide, a 200 MP main camera, a 10 MP 3x telephoto, and a 50 MP 5x telephoto. It also predicted dimensions of 162.8 × 77.6 × 8.2 mm, a weight of 219 g, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Read the September 2024 report.
How the predictions compare with Samsung’s specifications
Samsung announced the Galaxy S25 Ultra on January 22, 2025. The table compares the report’s predictions with Samsung’s published specifications; dimensions are shown as height × width × depth in both columns.

Samsung also lists a 12 MP front camera, a 6.9-inch display measured across the full rectangle (6.8 inches accounting for rounded corners), and a typical battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. The official specification table is available on Samsung Newsroom US.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, ultra‑bright up to ~2600 nits, HDR support, “Vision Booster,” and adaptive color tone — giving vivid colours, great outdoor visibility, and super‑smooth scrolling.
- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
What changed in the camera system
The report’s central camera prediction—the 50 MP ultrawide—was borne out. Samsung described that camera as an upgrade from the previous generation’s 12 MP ultrawide. The released rear camera arrangement also matches the four resolutions and zoom tiers anticipated in the report: a 50 MP ultrawide, 200 MP wide camera, 50 MP 5x telephoto, and 10 MP 3x telephoto.
Megapixel counts and zoom labels describe parts of the camera hardware, not the overall quality of a photograph. They do not, by themselves, establish low-light performance, detail, color, or how images compare in real use.

What to make of the design and processor predictions
The report’s dimensions match Samsung’s published figures when expressed as height × width × depth. The predicted 219 g weight was close, but Samsung’s official figure is 218 g. The report also expected the name Snapdragon 8 Gen 4; Samsung announced a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy instead. The 2024 report therefore captured several eventual specifications, but its processor label was not the name Samsung used at launch.
Samsung’s announcement confirms the product specifications, while the description of flatter sides remains a detail from the earlier leak report rather than a separate claim established by the specification table. Samsung’s US announcement and its UK announcement both date the launch to January 22, 2025; the latter also includes comments about Galaxy AI usage in the UK. Samsung Newsroom UK announcement.
