Samsung’s specifications and launch RRPs come from its UK launch announcement. Xiaomi’s hardware figures come from its Global specifications page; its product page promotes the Leica 5x periscope camera. The Xiaomi UK prices are review-reported prices, not manufacturer UK launch RRPs.

How big is the UK price difference?

Comparing the 256GB references, the S25 Ultra’s £1,249 UK RRP is £600 above the Xiaomi 17T’s £649 price reported by TechRadar in June 2026. The comparison is not perfectly like-for-like in source or timing: Samsung’s figure is its launch RRP, while Xiaomi’s is a review-reported UK price. For 512GB, the cited figures are £1,349 for Samsung and £699 for Xiaomi, a £650 gap. Samsung also listed a 1TB model at £1,549; Xiaomi’s cited specifications list storage only up to 512GB.

Where the specifications differ in practice

Display: larger and sharper on Samsung’s listed specifications

Samsung lists a 6.9-inch QHD+ panel, compared with Xiaomi’s 6.59-inch 1.5K display. Both are specified for refresh rates up to 120Hz. The screen-size figures use manufacturer conventions—Samsung also gives 6.8 inches when accounting for rounded corners—so they are best read as approximate panel comparisons. Peak-brightness claims should not be treated as directly comparable test results when measurement conditions differ.

Performance: different chips, no proven winner from names alone

The S25 Ultra uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, while the 17T uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra. Both cited configurations have 12GB RAM. Those labels identify different platforms but do not, by themselves, establish which phone feels faster in everyday use or sustains performance better under extended workloads.

Cameras: distinct zoom arrangements

Samsung specifies two optical telephoto cameras: one with 3x optical zoom and another with 5x, alongside a 200MP main camera and 50MP ultrawide. Xiaomi promotes a Leica 5x periscope telephoto, while its surfaced official specification details include a 50MP OIS main camera and 12MP ultrawide. The available Xiaomi specification excerpt does not fully detail the telephoto sensor. Hardware coverage is not a controlled photo comparison, so it cannot establish which phone takes better pictures.

Battery and charging: Xiaomi lists more capacity and higher wired wattage

Xiaomi lists a 6,500mAh typical-capacity battery and 67W HyperCharge; Samsung lists 5,000mAh typical capacity. Xiaomi’s page also says a power adapter is not included, while Samsung’s UK announcement says no travel adapter is included. Battery capacity and charging wattage alone do not determine real-world battery life or the time needed for a full charge.

This is a specification-based choice, not a universal performance or camera verdict. Before buying, compare the current price for the same storage tier, local warranty, network bands and in-box charger expectations. Xiaomi notes that network-band availability varies by region and that usable RAM and storage are lower than the stated totals because of system software; consult the local product page for your market.
