The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is the stronger fit if you want dedicated optical zoom cameras and a higher-resolution display. The OnePlus 15R’s published specifications favor a larger battery and a higher maximum refresh rate. Those are hardware-sheet differences, not proof of which phone takes better photos, lasts longer, or feels smoother in real use.

Which phone is better for your priorities?
Choose the Galaxy S25 Ultra for dedicated optical zoom
Samsung lists two separate telephoto cameras: a 10MP 3x optical option and a 50MP 5x optical option, alongside a 200MP main camera and 50MP ultrawide. The cited OnePlus 15R specifications list a stabilized 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide, but no dedicated telephoto camera. If zoom flexibility is a key requirement, Samsung’s listed hardware gives you more focal-length options. That does not establish that its photos are better in every situation, and megapixel counts alone cannot measure image quality.

OnePlus lists a maximum of 165Hz, while Samsung specifies adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. The OnePlus page limits its 144Hz and 165Hz support to listed apps, so the top refresh rates should not be assumed to apply everywhere. Samsung lists the higher display resolution: QHD+ on its 6.9-inch screen versus 2800 × 1272 on the 6.83-inch OnePlus display. Resolution and refresh rate describe different display characteristics; neither specification alone establishes which screen looks better to you.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, ultra‑bright up to ~2600 nits, HDR support, “Vision Booster,” and adaptive color tone — giving vivid colours, great outdoor visibility, and super‑smooth scrolling.
- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
OnePlus lists more battery capacity, but not proven longer runtime
The OnePlus 15R’s typical capacity is listed as 7,400mAh, compared with 5,000mAh for Samsung. That is a capacity comparison, not a controlled battery-life result. Screen settings, apps, signal strength and other conditions affect runtime, and the cited specifications do not provide a comparable endurance test for these two phones.
Performance is not settled by the processor names
The phones use different named platforms: Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy in the S25 Ultra and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in the 15R. The cited material does not provide a comparable independent benchmark, so it is not enough to declare a performance winner. For everyday buying, weigh the features and storage configuration you actually need rather than treating processor names as a head-to-head test.

How much do the phones cost?
Samsung’s US product page showed the Galaxy S25 Ultra starting at $1,299.99 before trade-in when retrieved October 4, 2026. Samsung’s January 2025 launch announcement also gave $1,299.99 as the starting price. A retrieved Samsung offer page showed a carrier-specific 256GB promotion at $999.99, reduced from $1,299.99; that offer is not a general unlocked price and eligibility or promotions can change. Check the live listing for the precise storage tier, carrier conditions and trade-in terms.

The retrieved OnePlus US product page listed features but no price. A search result from 91mobiles showed ₹59,999 on Amazon India, but that is regional context, not a verified current US price. Because the available figures refer to different markets and conditions, they cannot establish a meaningful single price difference. Compare current prices in the same country, for the same storage tier and sales channel, and check whether each price is unlocked or carrier-specific.

Charging and storage details to check before buying
OnePlus charging varies by region
The cited OnePlus Canada specifications list 55W charging, while OnePlus India material advertises 80W. Those figures are region-specific; do not assume either describes every 15R variant. Confirm the exact market and SKU before comparing charging speeds. Samsung says the S25 Ultra can reach up to 65% in about 30 minutes using a 45W adapter and USB-C cable; Samsung’s retrieved sales page says the charger is not included in the box.

Storage options differ at the top end
The cited US Samsung material lists 256GB, 512GB and 1TB configurations with 12GB memory. OnePlus lists 256GB and 512GB with 12GB RAM. Local availability can differ, so verify which configuration is sold in your market before choosing a tier.
How to make the decision
- Prioritize the S25 Ultra if you specifically want listed 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras.
- Prioritize the 15R if its listed 7,400mAh typical battery capacity or 165Hz maximum refresh rate better matches your preferences; neither specification guarantees longer battery life or a smoother experience in every use.
- Check the local OnePlus charging specification and exact phone variant rather than assuming a universal wattage.
- Compare the same storage tier and sales conditions in your country. A US Samsung price and an India OnePlus result are not an apples-to-apples comparison.
These recommendations follow the published specifications; they are not claims from hands-on testing. OnePlus describes the 15R as having “Our Biggest Battery Ever with 7,400 mAh,” which is OnePlus’s marketing language, not an independent comparison.
