The Galaxy S25 Ultra is the more capable phone on paper, especially for display detail and dedicated zoom cameras. The newer Galaxy S26 FE is lighter, costs $699.99 for its 128 GB configuration on Samsung’s US listing, and carries Samsung’s stated seven-generation OS-upgrade and seven-year security-update policy. The better buy depends on which features matter to you and the matched price in your market: there is no verified, same-market S25 Ultra offer here to support a precise current price difference.

Which phone has the better display?
Galaxy S25 Ultra: more resolution and a larger panel
The S25 Ultra’s 6.9-inch QHD+ panel has more resolution than the FE’s FHD+ screen, and its adaptive refresh rate spans 1–120 Hz. That makes the Ultra the stronger specification choice if fine detail and a larger viewing area are priorities.
Galaxy S26 FE: still a large 120 Hz AMOLED screen
The S26 FE keeps a substantial 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 60/120 Hz operation. It is not a small or basic screen; the trade-off is lower resolution and a refresh-rate specification that does not list the Ultra’s adaptive 1 Hz minimum.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, ultra‑bright up to ~2600 nits, HDR support, “Vision Booster,” and adaptive color tone — giving vivid colours, great outdoor visibility, and super‑smooth scrolling.
- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
How do their cameras compare?
S25 Ultra: two dedicated telephoto cameras
The Ultra combines a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide, and separate 3× and 5× optical telephoto cameras. Its dedicated 5× lens gives it a longer stated optical-zoom reach than the FE, while the higher-resolution main and ultra-wide sensors are clear hardware distinctions.
S26 FE: a simpler three-camera setup
The FE has a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 12 MP ultra-wide, and an 8 MP 3× telephoto camera with OIS. It covers the common wide, ultra-wide, and short-telephoto roles, but it does not have a separate 5× telephoto camera.

Megapixel counts and lens specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos in every condition. That requires independent, same-condition testing. Both front cameras are listed at 12 MP; equal resolution alone does not show that their image quality is equivalent.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The phones use different processors—the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy in the S25 Ultra and Exynos 2500 in the S26 FE—and the Ultra lists 12 GB of RAM versus 8 GB in the FE. Those specifications may matter when choosing for demanding multitasking or long-term workload needs, but chip names and memory figures alone do not establish comparative speed, heat, or battery life. The available comparison does not provide a same-condition benchmark test of both phones.

Which phone is lighter and easier to carry?
The S26 FE weighs 193 g, compared with 218 g for the S25 Ultra, a 25 g difference in the listed specifications. It is also listed as 7.4 mm thick versus 8.2 mm for the Ultra. The FE is slightly shorter and narrower as well, despite retaining a 6.7-inch display.
Battery and charging: how close are they?
The listed typical capacities are close: 5,000 mAh for the Ultra and 4,900 mAh for the FE. Capacity alone cannot determine which lasts longer, since screen, processor, settings, signal conditions, and usage all affect endurance. Samsung’s charging figures are conditional manufacturer estimates: up to 65% in around 30 minutes for the S25 Ultra with a 45 W adapter, and up to 69% in around 30 minutes for the S26 FE with a 45 W adapter. Samsung says the FE adapter is sold separately.

Software support and launch versions
The S25 Ultra launched with Android 15 and One UI 7, while the S26 FE launched with Android 17 and One UI 9. A phone’s installed version can change after launch, so check its update status rather than treating launch software as its current version.
Samsung states that the S26 FE will receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. The cited S25 Ultra announcement does not quantify its support policy, so this comparison cannot make a sourced, exact support-duration claim for the Ultra or give it an end date.

Galaxy S25 Ultra vs S26 FE price difference
Samsung’s US product listing displayed the Galaxy S26 FE at $699.99 for 128 GB and $799.99 for 256 GB when accessed. These are observed listing prices, not a promise of future pricing; see Samsung’s US S26 FE listing.
A separate Tom’s Guide report dated October 1, 2026 said the S26 FE’s starting price remained $699 and described a 256 GB starting configuration. That configuration context differs from Samsung’s page, which lists a 128 GB option at $699.99. Do not combine those figures as though they describe the same storage tier; the report is at Tom’s Guide.
TechRadar reported S26 FE launch pricing of $699, £699, and AU$1,149 for the standard version, with availability from September 4, 2026. Those are secondary-source launch figures, not a live quote; its review and specifications include additional configurations.

No matched current S25 Ultra price was established, so a precise current price gap cannot be stated. To compare what you would actually pay, use the same country, seller type, storage capacity, and device condition for both phones, and separate unlocked prices from carrier offers, trade-ins, or renewed stock. Samsung has announced Certified Re-Newed availability for S25-series devices, including the Ultra, in select markets; that indicates a possible renewed-device route, not current stock or a specific price. See Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed announcement.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy S25 Ultra if
- You want the higher-resolution, larger display.
- You value a dedicated 5× optical telephoto camera alongside a separate 3× telephoto.
- You want the listed 12 GB RAM configuration or storage up to 1 TB.
Choose the Galaxy S26 FE if
- You prefer the lighter, slimmer listed dimensions.
- A 6.7-inch AMOLED 120 Hz display and 3× telephoto meet your needs.
- Samsung’s stated seven OS generations and seven years of security updates are important to your decision.
- Its matched local price is meaningfully lower for the storage tier and condition you want.
Before deciding on price, compare like for like: the FE starts at 128 GB in Samsung’s US listing, while the S25 Ultra’s listed configurations begin at 256 GB. A headline starting price can therefore conceal a storage mismatch.
