The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra pairs a large, sharp 120Hz display with a flexible four-camera system, but its launch-era premium pricing and a less capable S Pen make it a better buy at the right discount than at any price. Samsung’s U.S. page listed it from $1,299.99 before trade-in; that is a reference price, not a live market quote. With the S26 generation reported launched in March 2026, compare today’s S25 Ultra price and remaining support with newer options before buying.
What the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers
The S25 Ultra is Samsung’s large-screen flagship for the 2025 generation. Its core pitch is straightforward: a spacious high-resolution display, long-range camera options, a built-in S Pen, and flagship-class hardware. The balance is less compelling if you expect every previous S Pen feature, want Qi2 magnets without an extra case, or are considering it near its original price.
Samsung’s U.S. specification sheet lists the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, 12GB of memory, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage variants. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance test results. Samsung also stated at launch that the S25 series would receive seven years of OS and security updates; this is a launch-era commitment, so check Samsung’s current support information when assessing the remaining update period.
Is the S25 Ultra screen good?
On paper, the screen is one of the phone’s strongest features: Samsung specifies a 6.9-inch diagonal QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive refresh up to 120Hz and a stated peak brightness of 2600 nits. The large panel and high refresh rate suit video, games, and scrolling. Samsung notes that its diagonal measurement uses the full rectangle; rounded corners and the camera opening make the actual viewable area smaller.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, ultra‑bright up to ~2600 nits, HDR support, “Vision Booster,” and adaptive color tone — giving vivid colours, great outdoor visibility, and super‑smooth scrolling.
- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
These figures describe display specifications, not a guarantee of how bright or readable the screen will feel in every environment. Samsung’s launch announcement also distinguishes the full-rectangle diagonal from the area accounting for rounded corners.
How capable are the cameras?
The rear camera system gives the S25 Ultra several useful framing options instead of relying on one main camera and digital cropping. Samsung lists a 200MP wide camera with autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP ultrawide with autofocus and OIS, a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom.

| Ultrawide | 50MP, autofocus, OIS |
| Telephoto | 10MP, 3x optical zoom |

| Zoom claims | 10x optical-quality zoom and up to 100x Space Zoom |
| Video capability | Up to 4K at 120fps and 8K at 30fps |
“10x optical-quality” is Samsung’s description of a zoom capability; it does not mean the phone has a dedicated 10x optical telephoto lens. Likewise, megapixel counts, zoom labels, and video modes establish advertised hardware capabilities, not a ranking of real-world image quality. Tom’s Guide’s review discusses the phone’s pros and cons, but the available comparable evidence here does not establish a camera ranking against current alternatives.

Tom’s Guide reports that the S25 Ultra’s S Pen no longer includes Bluetooth. As a result, Bluetooth-dependent Air Actions and remote shutter control available with earlier Ultra pens are absent. If you mainly use the stylus to write, mark up documents, or navigate the phone, that change may matter less; if you rely on remote controls, it is a meaningful step back.

Tom’s Guide also reports that Qi2 charging requires a compatible case. The phone should not be treated as having built-in magnetic Qi2 attachment: check that a case listing explicitly confirms S25 Ultra compatibility and the magnetic/Qi2 support you need.
Is the S25 Ultra worth its price in 2026?
Samsung’s U.S. product page surfaced a starting price of $1,299.99 before trade-in, and promoted trade-in credits. Treat that figure as a page-specific reference rather than a guaranteed current price. Eligibility and value for a trade-in can vary, so verify the live offer directly with Samsung. The current street price, stock, and trade-in value were not established as a market survey.

The S26 Ultra is reported as launched in March 2026, so the S25 Ultra is not the newest Galaxy Ultra. Whether the older model is better value depends on the actual price gap and your priorities, not its old launch price alone. Before choosing, compare the live unlocked price and trade-in offer, display size and resolution, camera focal lengths and independent image tests, equivalent battery and charging tests, stylus functions and accessories, and the remaining software-support period. Comparable battery-endurance results are not established here, so no battery-life ranking is warranted.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Consider it if its current discount makes the large display, multiple optical focal lengths, and S Pen combination worthwhile for you.
- Look elsewhere if remote S Pen controls are essential, magnetic Qi2 use without an added case is a requirement, or the newer model costs only modestly more.
- Verify before checkout the storage configuration, device condition, current price, trade-in eligibility, and any case’s exact S25 Ultra and Qi2 compatibility.
Verdict
The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s strongest case is its combination of a high-resolution, high-refresh-rate screen and a versatile rear camera layout. Its 3x and 5x optical cameras offer genuine framing choices, while the 10x and 100x descriptions need to be understood as Samsung’s optical-quality and Space Zoom claims. The loss of Bluetooth S Pen features and the need for a compatible Qi2 case are real compromises. In 2026, buy it on the basis of its current price versus the S26 generation—not because it was once Samsung’s newest Ultra.
