The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and vivo X300 Pro take different hardware approaches: Samsung offers two dedicated telephoto cameras, while vivo lists a high-resolution ZEISS telephoto and an optional 2.35x extender. There is no defensible single current price difference without a country, storage tier, and same-date listings. Samsung’s UK prices below are its 2024 launch RRPs, not current prices.

How do their cameras differ?
Galaxy S24 Ultra: two dedicated telephoto cameras
Samsung lists separate 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras alongside its main and ultrawide cameras. That gives the S24 Ultra dedicated lenses at those two telephoto steps. Its advertised optical-quality 2x and 10x modes should not be mistaken for additional optical telephoto hardware. See Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series launch specifications.

vivo X300 Pro: high-resolution telephoto and optional extender
vivo Europe lists a 200MP ZEISS telephoto, plus 50MP main and ultrawide cameras. The EU page also names an optional ZEISS 2.35x telephoto extender and Professional Imaging Grip Kit. The extender’s functionality requires the relevant camera-app mode and an applicable OTA update, so check regional compatibility and software support before treating it as part of the camera system. vivo Europe’s X300 Pro page.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
On paper, the key distinction is the stated camera hardware and accessory approach—not a proven image-quality winner. The manufacturer specifications do not provide comparable independent camera testing. The 200MP figures also do not, on their own, demonstrate better results.
Display, performance, and battery: what the figures tell you
Display
The S24 Ultra is listed with a 6.8-inch QHD+ display and a 1–120 Hz refresh rate. vivo lists a 6.78-inch screen; its EU page describes 8T LTPO and ZEISS Natural Color Solution. Those specifications do not establish which screen looks better in use, and regional descriptions may differ.
Rank #2
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Processors
Samsung’s launch material identifies the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy; vivo names the Dimensity 9500. Without comparable independent benchmarks for the two phones, these processor names are not enough to declare a speed or gaming winner.
Battery capacity and charging
For the EU X300 Pro, vivo states 5,440 mAh typical and 5,325 mAh rated capacity. Samsung lists 5,000 mAh typical and 4,855 mAh rated for the S24 Ultra. Capacity is not a battery-life test: endurance depends on use, software, network conditions, and configuration.
Rank #3
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
The charging claims are not directly comparable as real-world timings. Samsung’s “up to 65% in around 30 minutes” figure comes from internal lab conditions using its 45W adapter and a 5A USB-C cable, with the adapter sold separately. vivo lists up to 90W wired and up to 40W wireless FlashCharge, subject to usage and charger conditions; those maximum ratings do not specify a directly comparable charge-time test. Check which compatible accessories are available and included in your market.
Water-resistance ratings and their limits
Samsung rates the S24 Ultra IP68 and describes a lab condition of up to 1.5 m of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. vivo states IP68 and IP69 for the X300 Pro under controlled laboratory conditions. These ratings describe test conditions, not a recommendation to expose either phone to water. Samsung’s launch material and vivo’s global specifications provide the cited claims.

Price difference: why one number would mislead
The available price evidence is Samsung’s historical UK launch RRP, published on 17 January 2024: £1,249 for 256GB, £1,349 for 512GB, and £1,549 for 1TB. These are not current selling prices. No same-date, like-for-like UK X300 Pro price is established here, so subtracting a vivo price or describing one phone as currently more expensive would be unsupported. Samsung Newsroom U.K.
For a useful live comparison, match the country, storage capacity, retailer, and date; also distinguish list price from a sale price. Availability and X300 Pro configurations can vary by market.

Which phone should you compare more closely?
- Consider the S24 Ultra if you want the listed combination of 3x and 5x dedicated optical telephoto cameras, or if its local price and storage options work better for you.
- Consider the X300 Pro if its 200MP ZEISS telephoto and optional extender fit your photography priorities, and the extender is available and supported in your region.
- Compare the exact local listings before deciding on price: match storage, seller, date, and whether the offer is a regular or promotional price.
- Look beyond capacity and peak charging ratings if battery endurance or charging time is decisive. The cited manufacturer specifications do not provide a comparable independent endurance or charging test.
These are specification-based decision points, not a tested verdict on camera quality, speed, display quality, or battery life.
