For this comparison, OPPO Reno16 means the India-market Reno16 5G (model CPH2865); Reno16 specifications, prices, and availability vary by region. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has the higher-resolution display and two dedicated telephoto cameras, while the India Reno16 lists three 50MP rear cameras, a larger battery capacity, and 80W charging. Those are specification differences, not proof of better photos or longer real-world battery life.
Which phones are being compared?
These phones launched in different cycles and occupy different product positions. Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 Ultra in January 2024. OPPO announced the Reno16 series globally on June 25, 2026, and announced the India Reno16 5G on July 2, 2026. OPPO says regional pricing, release timing, and availability vary; the Reno16 figures below specifically describe India model CPH2865. Samsung’s launch specifications and OPPO’s global announcement provide the launch context.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow the screens differ
The S24 Ultra has the larger listed display and higher resolution: 6.8-inch QHD+ compared with the Reno16’s 16.05cm FHD+ panel. OPPO gives the Reno16 measurement in centimetres; it is approximately 6.32 inches by arithmetic conversion. Both manufacturers list refresh rates reaching 120Hz, though Samsung specifies an adaptive 1–120Hz range. Resolution and refresh-rate specifications alone do not establish which screen will look better to a particular person.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
What the camera specifications tell you
Samsung lists four rear cameras, including two telephoto cameras with 3x and 5x optical zoom. OPPO lists three 50MP rear cameras, with a 3.5x optical telephoto and a 116-degree ultra-wide field of view. The front-camera figures also differ: 12MP for Samsung and 50MP with autofocus and a 100-degree field of view for OPPO. These are hardware specifications, not comparable photo tests; megapixel count by itself cannot determine image quality.
Battery capacity and charging are not runtime tests
OPPO lists a higher typical battery capacity for the India Reno16: 6,700mAh, with a rated capacity of 6,490mAh. Samsung lists 5,000mAh typical for the S24 Ultra. OPPO specifies 80W SUPERVOOC charging. Samsung says the S24 Ultra can reach up to 65% in about 30 minutes with a 45W adapter under its stated test setup; the adapter was sold separately in Samsung’s UK launch announcement. The capacity and charging figures are not a matched battery-life or charging-speed test, so they cannot establish how long either phone lasts in everyday use.
Rank #2
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Durability ratings use different test conditions
Samsung rates the S24 Ultra IP68 and explains its lab rating as submersion in freshwater up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes; it cautions against beach or pool use. OPPO lists IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K for the India Reno16. These ratings come from different tests and do not mean either phone is waterproof. See the manufacturers’ Samsung specifications and rating notes and OPPO India specifications.

The cited prices do not support a fair current direct comparison. OPPO India’s product details page states ₹66,999 for 8GB+256GB and ₹72,999 for 12GB+256GB as of August 31, 2026; the official India launch announcement had listed initial prices of ₹61,999 and ₹67,999 on July 2, 2026. Samsung’s UK launch RRPs were £1,249, £1,349, and £1,549 for the S24 Ultra’s 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations in January 2024. These are historical UK launch prices versus later India prices, not same-market live offers. To establish a price difference, check both phones in the same country on the same date and disclose the storage configurations being compared. OPPO’s official store listing showed the 12GB option out of stock when indexed; stock and prices can change. Which one fits your priorities?
- Consider the Galaxy S24 Ultra if you want the listed QHD+ display, two dedicated telephoto focal lengths, or storage options up to 1TB where available.
- Consider the India Reno16 if its 50MP three-camera arrangement, stated battery capacity, 80W charging, or included charger better matches your priorities and local configuration.
- Compare locally before buying if price is decisive: the published figures above are not directly comparable, and Reno16 availability and configurations vary by market.
OPPO India’s box contents include a charger, USB cable, SIM ejector tool, protective case, and quick guide. Box contents and accessory availability can differ by market; consult the local product listing. Samsung’s January 2024 announcement stated that the S24 series would receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. That is a dated manufacturer statement, not a current check of the phone’s software-support status.
