The Xiaomi REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, on Xiaomi’s India listing, has the larger display, a higher stated battery capacity and 67W charging. Those are specification differences, not proof of which phone performs better or lasts longer in everyday use. Price depends on market and storage configuration, so compare like-for-like local listings rather than treating a comparison-page snapshot as a guaranteed current price.

Which phone has the better display?
The REDMI has the larger listed panel at 6.83 inches, compared with 6.7 inches on the Galaxy S24 FE. Xiaomi’s India page calls its screen 1.5K Super Sunlight AMOLED; its global page gives a 2772 × 1280 resolution and up to 120Hz. Samsung specifies FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an adaptive 60/120Hz refresh rate. The terms come from each manufacturer, and the Xiaomi pages do not use identical descriptions, so treat them as regional listings rather than a single universal configuration.

The Galaxy S24 FE has three listed rear cameras, including an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. That gives it a dedicated optical-zoom option absent from the two-camera rear system listed for the REDMI, which has a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide. Xiaomi lists a higher-resolution 16MP front camera than Samsung’s 10MP front camera, but megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality.

Battery capacity and charging
On Xiaomi’s India page, the REDMI has a stated typical capacity of 9000mAh, compared with the Galaxy S24 FE’s 4700mAh typical capacity. Xiaomi Global instead lists 8340mAh typical for its regional version. Do not combine those numbers or assume they describe one universal REDMI model. Battery capacity alone does not establish real-world endurance; no independent comparative battery-life result is established by the cited specifications.
Xiaomi India lists 67W charging and says an adapter is included, while noting package contents may vary by sales region. Samsung’s US announcement says the S24 FE supports 25W wired charging and can reach around 50% in about 30 minutes with the stated adapter and cable under its test conditions; that adapter is sold separately in that announcement. These claims do not provide a directly comparable full-charge test, and local box contents should be checked before purchase.

Performance, software and durability
Processor and memory
Samsung lists an Exynos 2400e built on a 4nm process; Xiaomi lists a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, also 4nm. Processor names and manufacturing process do not establish comparative speed. The Xiaomi Global page lists configurations including 6GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB, 8GB/256GB, 8GB/512GB and 12GB/256GB, while Xiaomi India lists up to 8GB/256GB. Match the exact regional storage and memory variant when comparing prices.

Software support
Samsung’s 2024 announcement promises seven generations of operating-system upgrades and seven years of security updates for the Galaxy S24 FE. Xiaomi India identifies the REDMI software as HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, but the examined pages do not state an equivalent support duration. That absence is not proof that updates will stop sooner; it means the cited Xiaomi specification does not establish a comparable commitment.

Resistance rating
Xiaomi Global lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings with qualifications tied to test conditions. The Samsung announcement cited here does not specify an IP rating. Neither rating should be read as a promise that a phone is indestructible or safe for every exposure to water, dust or impact; consult the applicable regional product documentation and warranty terms.

That is a dated third-party snapshot, not a guaranteed current price, and the page does not establish that the two figures correspond to matching storage configurations. The displayed difference is ₹3,000, but it should not be treated as a like-for-like value comparison without verifying the exact variants. Check the comparison listing and current local retailers before buying.
Samsung’s US announcement gave the S24 FE an original starting price of $649.99. That is historical US launch pricing, not a current offer and not directly comparable with India retail prices.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy S24 FE if a dedicated 3x optical telephoto camera and Samsung’s stated seven-year software-support commitment matter most to you.
- Consider the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G if the India-listed larger screen, 9000mAh typical battery and 67W charging are priorities—and confirm that the local version and package match those specifications.
- Compare exact local listings before deciding if price, storage, warranty, network-band compatibility or included accessories are decisive. Xiaomi’s global and India pages differ on battery capacity and available configurations, while package contents can vary by region.
These specifications do not establish which device has stronger real-world performance, better camera results or longer battery endurance. Those judgments require comparable independent testing of the exact regional models.
