Buy the Galaxy S24 FE if it is substantially cheaper and you want a large screen, larger battery, and strong value. Buy the Galaxy S24 if prices are close, or if you prioritize a compact body, brighter display, faster US processor, better camera hardware, and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
The deciding factor in 2026 is the real price for the same storage, condition, warranty, and carrier status—not the original 2024 launch prices. Samsung listed the Galaxy S24 FE from $649.99 before eligible trade-in when checked on August 16, 2026; the Galaxy S24 launched at $799 for 128GB, but its current street price varies widely.
Galaxy S24 FE vs. Galaxy S24: quick verdict

|---|---|---|
| Price and value | Galaxy S24 FE | Lower launch price and more screen and battery for the money. |
| Compact size | Galaxy S24 | Much shorter, narrower, thinner, and lighter. |
| Large display | Galaxy S24 FE | 6.7 inches versus 6.2 inches. |
| Display quality | Galaxy S24 | Listed peak brightness up to 2,600 nits and a 1–120Hz adaptive range. |
| Battery capacity | Galaxy S24 FE | 4,700mAh versus 4,000mAh. |
| Charging | Tie | Both support 25W wired and wireless charging. |
| US performance | Galaxy S24 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy versus Exynos 2400e. |
| Camera hardware | Galaxy S24 | Higher-resolution telephoto and selfie cameras. |
| Camera versatility | Close | Both have main, ultrawide, and 3x telephoto cameras. |
| Software longevity | Tie | Both fall under Samsung’s seven-year S24-generation update policy. |
| Durability | Slight Galaxy S24 edge | Both are IP68-rated; the S24 lists Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the FE lists Victus+. |
| Gaming endurance | Likely Galaxy S24 FE | Larger battery and vapor chamber may help long sessions, but do not guarantee higher frame rates. |
The FE is not simply an S24 with a bigger battery. It is substantially larger and heavier, has a dimmer listed peak brightness, an optical fingerprint reader, and a lower-tier regional processor. The S24 is the more polished compact flagship; the FE is the more compelling bargain when discounted.

Design and handling: compact flagship versus large phone
Galaxy S24
The S24 measures 147.0 × 70.6 × 7.6mm and weighs about 168g. It is one of the few current mainstream Android flagships that remains genuinely comfortable one-handed, slips into small pockets, and stays light during long reading or navigation sessions.
Galaxy S24 FE
The FE measures 162.0 × 77.3 × 8.0mm and weighs about 213g. That makes it 15mm taller, 6.7mm wider, 0.4mm thicker, and roughly 45g heavier. The difference is obvious with a case or during extended gaming. In exchange, the larger chassis gives you a more immersive screen and more battery capacity.
Both use an aluminum frame, glass backs, wireless charging, and IP68 dust and water resistance. IP68 is a laboratory rating, not a promise against pool water, salt water, drops, or aging seals; Samsung says resistance is not permanent. The S24’s Victus 2 cover glass is a modest materials advantage over the FE’s Victus+.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Displays: the S24 is brighter; the FE is bigger
The S24 has a 6.2-inch, 2340 × 1080 AMOLED panel with a listed peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits and a 1–120Hz adaptive range. The FE uses a 6.7-inch, 2340 × 1080 Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel rated up to 1,900 nits and generally specified at 60–120Hz.
Rank #2
- The Galaxy S24 FE packs a large 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, enhanced brightness and a “Vision Booster” mode — ideal for clear, bright visuals even outdoors.
- Choose the FE for movies, games, reading, split-screen work, and accessibility.
- Choose the S24 for easier pocketing, higher pixel density, and better outdoor visibility on paper.
- Peak-nit figures are maximum specifications, not measurements of sustained full-screen brightness.
Samsung measures diagonal size across the full rectangle, so rounded corners and the camera cutout reduce usable area on both phones. The FE’s 120Hz scrolling is smooth, but it should not be described as identical to the S24’s 1Hz-capable adaptive behavior.
Performance and gaming
Everyday use
Both phones have 8GB of RAM and are fast enough for messaging, web browsing, photography, streaming, and normal multitasking. The FE’s Exynos 2400e is a flagship-class chip, not an entry-level processor.
US performance advantage
North American S24 models use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, giving the S24 the safer choice for demanding games, emulation, and long video exports. S24 models in some other markets use Exynos 2400, so buyers outside North America must check the exact model and region before applying this comparison.

Sustained gaming
Samsung says the FE has a vapor chamber 1.1 times larger than its predecessor and supports ray tracing. Its larger body and battery can help it maintain a long session, but endurance, heat, and frame rate are separate outcomes. The FE may last longer between charges while the US S24 still delivers higher peak performance.
Rank #3
- The Galaxy S24 FE packs a large 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, enhanced brightness and a “Vision Booster” mode — ideal for clear, bright visuals even outdoors.
Camera comparison
Hardware
Both phones combine a 50MP optically stabilized main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a dedicated 3x telephoto. The S24’s telephoto is 10MP; the FE’s is 8MP. Samsung also describes the FE’s main sensor crop as optical-quality 2x zoom. Front cameras are 12MP on the S24 and 10MP on the FE.
What the differences mean
- The S24 should retain more detail at 3x and when cropping telephoto images.
- The S24 has the hardware advantage for selfies and video calls.
- The FE remains unusually versatile for its price because it includes a real 3x lens instead of relying only on digital zoom.
- Shared 50MP specifications do not prove identical sensors, tuning, night results, skin tones, or video quality.
The FE includes Samsung’s ProVisual Engine and Galaxy AI tools such as Night Portrait, Photo Assist, and Instant Slow-Mo. AI edits can improve a difficult shot, but they may also create results you find unnatural; review the generated image before sharing it. Samsung’s announcement details these capabilities at Samsung Mobile Press.
Battery life and charging
The FE has a 4,700mAh battery versus 4,000mAh in the S24, giving it more reserve for a large display, travel day, or gaming session. Capacity alone does not determine runtime: screen size, refresh behavior, modem, processor efficiency, signal, brightness, and software all matter.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →PhoneArena’s published estimates listed the S24 slightly ahead of the FE in aggregate, browsing, video, and gaming figures. Treat those as that outlet’s test results, not a universal guarantee. Tom’s Guide measured 13 hours 28 minutes for the Snapdragon S24 in its battery test but had not completed comparable FE testing in the cited comparison. The FE is therefore the battery-capacity winner, not an automatic battery-life winner.
Rank #4
Both support up to 25W wired charging and wireless charging. Neither is a charging-speed leader, and Samsung’s FE specification page says the 25W adapter is sold separately.
Software, Galaxy AI, and support
Both launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1 and support Galaxy AI functions including Circle to Search, Interpreter, Live Translate, Note Assist, and Photo Assist. Samsung’s S24-generation policy provides seven years of software and security updates, and contemporary coverage reports the same commitment for the FE.
That promise does not guarantee identical future AI features. Availability can depend on region, language, app, Samsung account, internet connection, software version, and any later pricing terms. The phones launched in different months, so check Samsung’s current policy wording and the device’s first-availability date when calculating remaining support.
Biometrics and connectivity
The S24 uses an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader; the FE uses an optical reader. Ultrasonic sensing is generally the more capable technology with damp or dirty fingers, while either phone can use face unlock as a secondary method. This difference is easy to miss in a camera-and-battery spec table but noticeable every day.

Compared market configurations support 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, eSIM-related functions, and wireless charging. Carrier bands, SIM features, modem behavior, and processor vary by region, so US buyers should confirm the exact unlocked or carrier model.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy S24 FE when:
- You want a 6.7-inch screen for the lowest reasonable purchase price.
- You prefer a larger battery and accept a 213g phone.
- You want a dedicated 3x telephoto without paying flagship launch pricing.
- You are satisfied with slightly lower camera, brightness, biometric, and US-performance specifications.
- The FE is at least about $100–$150 cheaper than an equivalent S24 in the same condition and storage.
Choose the Galaxy S24 when:
- You want genuinely compact, one-handed Android hardware.
- You prioritize the brightest listed display and adaptive 1–120Hz behavior.
- You want Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance in North America.
- You value higher-resolution telephoto and selfie cameras.
- You prefer an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a lighter phone.
- A discount brings the S24 to within roughly $50–$100 of the FE for the same storage and condition.
Consider neither if:
You want the newest platform, the longest remaining support window, or current-generation camera and performance hardware. Compare newer Galaxy S and FE models before committing to phones introduced in 2024.
How to compare 2026 deals correctly
- Match storage capacity; do not compare a 128GB S24 with a 256GB FE.
- Match condition: new, open-box, refurbished, and used units are not equivalent.
- Check unlocked versus carrier-locked status, warranty, return period, and remaining support.
- Apply trade-in credits separately from the advertised cash price.
- Confirm the exact regional model and carrier-band compatibility.
- Remember that neither phone has a microSD slot in the compared specifications.

Final recommendation
The Galaxy S24 FE is the rational default for most buyers when it is meaningfully cheaper: it delivers the larger display, bigger battery, three-camera setup, Galaxy AI, IP68 protection, wireless charging, and long support in a lower-priced package. The Galaxy S24 is the superior all-round phone when prices are close because its compact design, brighter display, Snapdragon performance in the US, stronger telephoto and selfie hardware, and ultrasonic fingerprint reader are advantages you notice every day.
