The Galaxy S24 FE is the better fit if you want a dedicated 3× optical zoom camera or wireless charging. The Galaxy A57 5G is lighter, has a higher stated battery capacity, and advertises faster wired charging. At launch in the US, the A57 started $100 below the S24 FE—but those are historical launch prices, not a guarantee of today’s price gap. The right choice depends on current local pricing and which differences matter to you.

Samsung’s specifications give both phones the same screen size, FHD+ resolution, and maximum refresh rate. The panel names differ, but those names alone do not establish which display looks better. The camera, charging, and size differences are more actionable when choosing between them.
How much more does the Galaxy S24 FE cost?
At launch in the US, Samsung set the S24 FE’s starting price at $649.99 in 2024 and the A57 5G’s starting price at $549.99 in 2026—a $100 difference between those announced starting prices. They are not a like-for-like snapshot of current retail prices, and the A57’s launch price is not a promise of its price today.

Samsung says listed prices may change without notice. Check the actual offer for your country and configuration rather than assuming the older launch figures still describe the gap.

When comparing offers, match storage, seller, warranty, and carrier or unlocked status. A lower price is only a meaningful advantage if the configuration and purchase terms suit you.
Which phone has the more useful camera setup?
Choose the S24 FE for optical reach
The S24 FE adds an 8MP telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom and optical image stabilization. That dedicated camera is the clearest reason to choose it if you often photograph distant subjects—such as performers, children at a game, or details across a street—and want optical reach rather than relying only on the main camera’s digital zoom.

The A57 swaps telephoto for macro
The A57 has a 5MP macro camera instead of a telephoto lens. Macro is for close-up subjects; it is not a substitute for optical zoom. Both phones list 50MP main and 12MP ultrawide rear cameras, so the headline distinction is the extra type of shot each third camera supports.

Battery capacity and charging: what the figures tell you
Samsung lists a typical capacity of 5,000mAh for the A57 and 4,700mAh for the S24 FE. Capacity is not the same as screen-on time: usage, signal, settings, software, and other factors affect how long a phone lasts. The cited specifications do not establish a same-condition independent battery test that proves which handset lasts longer in everyday use.
- A57 wired charging: Samsung advertises Super Fast Charging 2.0 and says the phone can reach up to 60% in around 30 minutes. This is a manufacturer claim, not a direct comparison with the S24 FE under identical test conditions.
- S24 FE wired charging: Samsung says the phone can reach around 50% in 30 minutes using a 25W adapter under its stated laboratory conditions. The adapter is sold separately.
- Wireless charging: The S24 FE supports Fast Wireless Charging and Wireless PowerShare. The A57 specifications cited here do not list wireless charging.
Samsung also says the A57’s power adapter is sold separately. If you want to charge without plugging in, the S24 FE has the clear feature advantage; if you mainly care about the advertised wired charging rate, compare the claims with the limits above.

Which phone is easier to carry?
The A57 weighs 179g, compared with 213g for the S24 FE—a 34g difference in Samsung’s published specifications. It is also thinner at 6.9mm versus 8.0mm. Their listed heights and widths are close, so weight and thickness are the more noticeable specification differences for someone who prioritizes a lighter, slimmer handset.

Software support and regional details
Samsung says the A57 receives up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, plus up to six years of security updates. Samsung UK lists the A57’s security-update period as valid until March 31, 2032. That end date is specific to the UK listing; check Samsung’s support information for your market and exact model.

The sources cited here do not establish the S24 FE’s support commitment in a directly comparable form. Do not infer that the A57 necessarily receives more support: check the policy that applies to the S24 FE model and region you are considering. Software versions also change with updates, so an announcement-era Android version is not necessarily the version installed on a phone today.
Which one should you buy?
Buy the Galaxy S24 FE if:
- You regularly need a dedicated 3× optical telephoto camera.
- Wireless charging or Wireless PowerShare is important to you.
- Its current local price is close enough to the A57’s that those features justify the difference for you.
Buy the Galaxy A57 5G if:
- You value a lighter, thinner body.
- You prefer its higher stated typical battery capacity and faster advertised wired charging.
- You want the lower current offer, or the A57’s stated update policy better fits your needs after checking the regional terms.
Neither phone is a universal winner. Compare the exact storage configuration and current price in your market, then decide whether optical zoom and wireless charging matter more to you than the A57’s lighter build and charging claims.
