Samsung’s Galaxy S24 family comprises the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, unveiled in January 2024. All three bring Galaxy AI features, but their screen sizes and resolutions differ, and processor choice varies by model and market. The S24 Ultra is the exception on chipset: Samsung says every unit uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.
When the Galaxy S24 series launched
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 on January 17, 2024, at its Galaxy Unpacked event; its main newsroom announcement was dated January 18. How the three Galaxy S24 models compare
The lineup ranges from the compact 6.2-inch S24 to the 6.8-inch S24 Ultra. Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter interim report lists the display sizes, resolutions, and operating-system software at launch-era specification level:

Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter interim report lists Android 14 and One UI 6.1 for the family. All three models have adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz, according to Samsung’s launch specifications. The exact Snapdragon-versus-Exynos configuration for the S24 and S24+ depends on the market; check the specifications for the particular country and model before buying. Samsung’s launch coverage describes the Ultra as the camera-forward option, but regional camera specifications should be checked against the specific device listing.

Which Galaxy S24 models have Snapdragon 8 Gen 3?
Galaxy S24 Ultra
Every Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, Samsung says. This applies to the Ultra, not necessarily to every S24-series phone worldwide.
Galaxy S24 and S24+
Samsung identifies Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy and its Exynos 2400 as the family’s processors, with model and market determining the configuration. The announcement does not provide a complete country-by-country processor map, so verify the local variant rather than assuming all three models use Snapdragon. Qualcomm also described Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy as powering the first Galaxy AI-enabled smartphones in its partnership announcement.

What Galaxy AI does on the S24 family
Galaxy AI was a central feature of the S24 launch, with tools aimed at communication, search, and photography. Samsung’s launch material describes these workflows:

- Translation: Intelligent text and call translation is designed to help people communicate across languages. Samsung Keyboard can translate messages and emails in real time in 13 languages, as stated in Samsung Newsroom Australia’s 2024 launch material. Language support and availability can vary by market and software version.
- Search: Circle to Search lets users circle or otherwise select something on screen to search for it, without first leaving the current app.
- Photography: ProVisual Engine tools use AI-assisted image processing, while Samsung also highlights photo-editing capabilities.
- Writing and productivity: Samsung’s launch coverage includes note and chat assistance among the family’s AI workflows.
These launch descriptions establish the feature set presented for the S24 series, not a current, universal availability list. Feature access, supported languages, and whether processing happens on-device or in the cloud may depend on market and software version. Samsung’s Australian launch material provides the 13-language figure; check Samsung’s current local documentation for the features and languages available on a particular device.

Refresh rates and the Ultra’s cooling design
Samsung specifies adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rates across all three models. It also says the S24 Ultra has a vapor chamber 1.9 times larger than its predecessor’s, intended to help manage surface temperature and sustain performance during demanding use. That is Samsung’s design claim; it is not an independent benchmark or a guarantee of a particular performance result.

What to check before choosing a model
- Screen size and resolution: Choose between the S24’s 6.2-inch FHD+ display, the S24+’s 6.7-inch Quad HD+ display, and the Ultra’s 6.8-inch Quad HD+ display.
- Processor variant: The Ultra is Snapdragon-only according to Samsung; the S24 and S24+ may use Snapdragon or Exynos depending on market.
- Camera needs: Samsung positions the Ultra as the camera-forward model. Confirm the precise camera and zoom hardware in the local product specifications.
- AI availability: Confirm feature and language support for your region and software version rather than assuming every launch feature works everywhere.
