The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE 5G still offers a premium-style Samsung feature set, including a dedicated telephoto camera, IPX8 water resistance, wireless charging and DeX. Whether it is a good buy now depends on its actual local price and which processor variant you are considering: US models use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while Samsung Brazil lists Exynos 2200. Reviews also flag battery and sustained-performance caveats, and its 25W wired charging is modest by current standards.
What the Galaxy S23 FE offers
Samsung’s US business specification sheet describes a 6.4-inch display, an aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass 5 and IPX8 water resistance. It lists 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent durability or battery-life test results. The glass and water-resistance rating do not establish that the phone is drop-proof or immune to damage.
The same US sheet lists 5G Sub6 and mmWave, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, stereo speakers, eSIM, UWB and Samsung DeX. It also specifies wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. Samsung says the S23 FE does not support the S Pen. Confirm connectivity and feature availability for the specific market and carrier before buying. Samsung US Galaxy S23 FE specifications

The processor depends on the market. Samsung’s US business sheet names the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1; Samsung Brazil’s product listing names the Samsung Exynos 2200. There is no controlled, same-build comparison established here that would support a universal claim about which version runs cooler, lasts longer or performs better. Check the model and regional listing when comparing reviews or used-phone offers rather than assuming every S23 FE has identical behavior. Samsung Brazil Galaxy S23 FE listing

Camera review: a useful three-camera setup, with review-era caveats
The rear system comprises a 50MP wide camera, a 12MP ultrawide and an 8MP telephoto camera; the front camera is 10MP. The telephoto lens gives the phone a dedicated camera for zoomed shots instead of relying only on digital cropping. Megapixel counts and lens specifications alone do not establish photo quality.
Independent review coverage praised the camera and software feature set, but that assessment should be read as reviewer experience rather than a guarantee for every scene or software version. See the Android Authority S23 FE review for its camera and overall assessment. For photography decisions, consider whether you need a real telephoto camera and compare image samples from the exact alternatives available at your price.

- The S23 FE offers a 6.4‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 1,450 nits peak brightness plus a wide DCI‑P3 color gamut. That means vibrant, high‑contrast visuals that stay bright and legible even outdoors.
Battery and charging: capacity is not a runtime promise
Samsung lists a 4,500mAh battery. That figure describes rated capacity; it does not predict how many hours a particular owner will get. Chipset variant, signal strength, display use, games and other workloads affect endurance, and independent coverage raised battery concerns. Treat review observations as results from the reviewer’s model and use, not as guaranteed runtime for every regional version.

Software support: a substantial launch promise, not a current update check
Review coverage reported that Samsung promised four Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches for the S23 FE. That is a launch-era support commitment; it does not tell you which Android version or security patch a particular device has today, or when an update reaches a given carrier or region. Before buying, ask the seller for the installed software version and check Samsung’s current update information for your specific market. TechRadar’s S23 FE review
Pros and cons
Pros
- A dedicated telephoto camera alongside wide and ultrawide cameras gives more shooting flexibility than a two-camera system without telephoto.
- Premium-oriented features include an aluminum frame, IPX8 rating, wireless charging, PowerShare and Samsung DeX, according to Samsung’s US materials.
- Samsung’s reported launch support promise—four OS upgrades and five years of security patches—was generous for the phone’s release period.
- Samsung ecosystem functions such as eSIM, UWB and stereo speakers are included in the US specification sheet, though local availability should be checked.
Cons
- Battery endurance and sustained performance drew concerns in independent coverage; the processor varies by region, so one review’s findings may not map neatly to another market’s model.
- 25W wired charging is unremarkable against newer competition, and the charging adapter may not be in the box.
- There is no S Pen support.
- The phone’s original price positioning made its value sensitive to discounts and competitors; historical launch pricing is not a guide to today’s deal.
Should you buy the Galaxy S23 FE?
Consider it if you want Samsung software and ecosystem features, a dedicated telephoto camera, water resistance and wireless charging, and the handset is meaningfully less expensive than newer phones with comparable support and condition. Its feature set remains appealing, but the S23 FE is not an automatic recommendation: check the processor variant, battery condition if buying used, local warranty, software patch status and the actual price.
