The Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G’s clearest strengths on paper are its expansive, high-resolution 120Hz display and an integrated Bluetooth S Pen. Samsung positioned it at launch as the premium, large-screen member of the Note20 pair. Those specifications explain its appeal, but they do not establish real-world battery life, camera quality, or whether a used example is a good buy today.
What the Note20 Ultra 5G is—and what “most powerful” means
Samsung introduced the Note20 Ultra in August 2020 as its high-end Note20-series phone. The “most powerful phone yet” phrasing is promotional, not a verified ranking: the available evidence does not include comparable benchmarks that would establish it as the most powerful phone overall.
The more concrete distinction within the Note20 pair is the screen. Samsung specifies a 120Hz display for the Ultra and says that refresh rate is available on the Ultra, not the standard Note20. That makes the Ultra the model to consider if a large screen and high refresh rate are priorities; it does not, by itself, prove how smooth the display feels in everyday use.
How big is the Note20 Ultra?
Samsung lists the phone at 77.2 × 164.8 × 8.1 mm and 208 g. Its display measures 6.9 inches diagonally across the full rectangle; Samsung notes that rounded corners and the camera cutout reduce the viewable area. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not a hands-on assessment of how comfortable the phone is to hold.

The screen is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with 3088 × 1440 resolution, 496 ppi, HDR10+ certification, and a 120Hz refresh rate, according to Samsung’s August 2020 announcement. That combination makes the display the strongest documented part of the phone’s proposition. The specifications do not establish whether the phone can use 120Hz and full resolution simultaneously, or how refresh rate affects battery runtime.
How useful is the built-in S Pen?
The S Pen is part of the Note20 Ultra rather than a separate accessory. Samsung lists Bluetooth connectivity, 4,096 pressure levels, and a 0.7 mm tip. The company also announced new S Pen and Samsung Notes features for the Note20 series, with those features extending to Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ in its US launch announcement.
Those details establish the pen’s stated hardware and announced software capabilities, not how natural handwriting feels or whether the features suit a particular workflow. Anyone buying a used device should check that the S Pen is included and functions; the specification alone says nothing about the condition of an individual pen.

The available evidence does not support a reliable verdict on either. Samsung’s specifications include camera details, but megapixel counts cannot substitute for consistent sample comparisons across daylight, low light, zoom, portraits, and video. Likewise, no dependable battery endurance testing is established here, so a specific runtime or all-day-use claim would be unwarranted.

For a meaningful assessment before purchase, look for independent tests of the exact regional model and compare battery results under similar display, network, and workload settings. Camera samples should come from the same review or test conditions when comparing this phone with alternatives.
Is the Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G still worth buying?
It may suit someone who specifically wants a large Samsung phone with a built-in stylus, but the available specifications are not enough to call it good value today. Current used prices, stock, battery health, software-support status, and carrier compatibility are not established here. The answer depends on the particular handset and offer, not simply the phone’s launch-era position.

Current software-support status is not established by Samsung’s 2020 launch materials. Check Samsung’s current support information for the exact model and region, and confirm the installed software version directly with the seller before relying on the phone for security-sensitive use.
What Samsung’s specifications do—and do not—tell you
Samsung lists an IP68 rating and gives freshwater test caveats in its specification announcement. That is a manufacturer specification under stated test conditions; it is not proof that a years-old used device remains water-resistant after wear, damage, or repair.
Overall, the documented case for the Note20 Ultra is specific: a very large, sharp 120Hz display and an integrated Bluetooth S Pen. Whether those strengths outweigh uncertain battery condition, camera performance, support, and asking price has to be decided handset by handset.
