The Samsung Galaxy M36 5G and vivo X300 FE sit in very different price tiers in the available India-market pricing: Samsung’s 2025 launch prices started at ₹16,499, while vivo’s India e-store displayed ₹94,999 for the X300 FE 12GB+256GB when checked in 2026. Those figures are not a same-date comparison. On paper, the vivo has a smaller, sharper display, a higher-tier listed processor, a dedicated telephoto camera, a larger battery and much faster specified charging; the M36 has a larger 120Hz screen and a clearly stated long-term software-support schedule.

How much does each phone cost in India?
Samsung’s 30 June 2025 launch announcement gave introductory M36 prices of ₹16,499 for 6GB+128GB, including a stated ₹1,000 instant bank discount; ₹17,999 for 8GB+128GB; and ₹20,999 for 8GB+256GB. Samsung said availability would begin on 12 July 2025 through Samsung.com, Amazon and selected retail stores. These are launch-period figures, not current street prices.

The vivo India e-store displayed ₹94,999 for the selected X300 FE 12GB+256GB configuration when checked in 2026, against an MRP of ₹119,999. The store also showed other configurations, and its product listing displayed a lower price for an 8GB+256GB option; the cited pricing does not establish a single fixed price for every variant or seller.

Subtracting the M36 8GB+256GB launch price of ₹20,999 from the vivo X300 FE 12GB+256GB displayed price of ₹94,999 gives ₹74,000. That arithmetic is not a like-for-like current price gap: it compares a 2025 introductory Samsung price with a 2026 vivo store snapshot, and the RAM configurations differ. For a purchase decision, compare the exact same-day prices for the specific RAM/storage variants you would buy, including bank offers and seller conditions.
Which display is a better fit?
Choose the M36 for a larger screen
Samsung lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel at 1080×2340 and explicitly gives it a 120Hz refresh rate. The larger diagonal can suit readers, video viewers and anyone who prefers more screen area, although size alone does not establish brightness, color accuracy or outdoor visibility.

Choose the vivo for a more compact, higher-resolution panel
The X300 FE’s 6.31-inch AMOLED display is listed at 2640×1216, so it is smaller but has more pixels by the stated resolution figures. The cited vivo page does not provide a refresh-rate figure in the comparison evidence here, so do not assume one from these specifications.
How do the processors and cameras differ?
Processor: compare the chip names, not unverified speed claims
The M36 lists Samsung’s Exynos 1380, identified as a 5nm processor in Samsung’s launch announcement. vivo lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in the X300 FE. These names indicate different hardware, but the cited material contains no controlled benchmark results; it does not establish how large any real-world speed difference is for gaming, camera processing or everyday use.

Rear cameras: the vivo adds a dedicated telephoto camera
The X300 FE lists two 50MP stabilized rear cameras: an autofocus main camera and a telephoto camera, plus an 8MP fixed-focus wide-angle camera. The M36 lists a 50MP main camera with OIS alongside 8MP and 2MP rear cameras. A dedicated telephoto lens gives the vivo a distinct camera configuration, but megapixel counts and stabilization specifications alone do not prove which phone takes better photos.
Front cameras and video
Samsung lists a 13MP front camera and says both front and rear cameras can record in 4K. vivo lists a 50MP autofocus front camera. The cited vivo specification does not establish a comparable front-camera video capability, so the figures should not be treated as a direct video-quality comparison.

Battery capacity and charging: what the ratings establish
Samsung specifies a 5,000mAh typical battery and 25W charging for the M36. vivo specifies 6,500mAh typical capacity and 6,350mAh rated minimum capacity for the X300 FE, along with 90W FlashCharge. vivo qualifies the 90W figure for use with the original charger and cable and says charging is dynamically adjusted according to usage conditions.

Those outcomes depend on usage and charging conditions; the cited figures are not independent battery or charging tests.

Software updates, memory and practical details
Samsung states a defined update schedule
Samsung launched the M36 with One UI 7 and stated six generations of Android upgrades plus six years of security updates. Its product page lists security support through 31 December 2031, while qualifying that support information reflects plans rather than a commitment. The cited vivo X300 FE page lists OriginOS 6 but does not give a comparable support-duration promise; that absence is not evidence that vivo will provide no updates.
Storage options and microSD
Samsung’s launch configurations were 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB. The cited Samsung product page lists microSD expansion up to 2TB for one configuration and describes a hybrid SIM/microSD slot, so using a memory card may affect SIM-slot use. vivo lists 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB; the cited page does not state a microSD option.
Weight
Samsung lists the M36 at 197g. vivo lists the X300 FE at 191g, excluding display protective films. The six-gram difference is modest, and the vivo figure’s stated exclusion means the published measurements are not perfectly equivalent.
Which phone should you choose?
- Consider the M36 if you want a larger 120Hz display, microSD flexibility on the cited configuration, or Samsung’s explicit update schedule—and if its price is the priority. Check current pricing because its quoted rupee amounts are 2025 launch prices.
- Consider the X300 FE if you prefer a compact phone and value its listed Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, dedicated stabilized telephoto camera, larger stated battery capacity and 90W charging specification. Confirm the exact variant and live price before comparing it with the M36.
- Do not choose from spec labels alone if sustained gaming speed, image quality, all-day battery life or charge time is decisive. The cited manufacturer pages do not provide independent tests for those outcomes.
