The Samsung Galaxy M36 5G is the better fit if you want a sharper FHD+ Super AMOLED display, an ultrawide rear camera and lower weight. The realme P4R 5G prioritizes a larger stated battery and a higher maximum refresh rate, but uses an HD+ LCD screen and has a simpler rear-camera setup. In India price snapshots accessed on October 7, 2026, the P4R listing was cheaper; actual prices can change with seller, offer and memory variant.

Which phone has the better display?
Galaxy M36: prioritize resolution and panel type
Samsung lists a 6.7-inch-class FHD+ Super AMOLED display at up to 120Hz. Its 1080 × 2340 resolution is higher than the P4R’s, and the AMOLED panel is the clearest specification-based reason to favor the M36 for screen detail and panel technology.
realme P4R: prioritize refresh rate and screen size
realme lists a 6.8-inch HD+ LCD screen with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz and peak brightness of 1,200 nits. That refresh-rate ceiling is higher, but it does not change the lower 720 × 1570 resolution or make the panel AMOLED. A higher maximum refresh rate is a different benefit from sharper detail.

realme lists an 8,000mAh battery and 45W charging for the P4R. Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery capacity for the M36. These are manufacturer specifications, not a directly comparable battery-life test: screen settings, signal conditions, apps and usage affect how long either phone lasts. realme’s headline, “POWER FOR YOUR DAY. CHARGE LESS, LIVE MORE,” is marketing language, not independent evidence of runtime.

Camera setup: more flexibility on the M36’s spec sheet
The M36 has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP camera. The P4R is listed with a single 50MP rear camera, without an ultrawide or macro camera in the comparison data. The extra rear cameras give the M36 more listed shooting options; megapixel counts and camera count do not, by themselves, establish which phone takes better photos. The listed front-camera resolutions are 13MP for Samsung and 8MP for realme, also not a standalone quality verdict.
Software support and long-term ownership
Samsung’s India product page states that M36 security updates are valid through 2031-12-31. Its page also offers Android 15 and Android 16 user manuals. realme’s product page identifies the P4R software as realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16, but does not state a support duration there. 91mobiles reports two years of OS updates and three years of security updates for the P4R. Because that duration is secondary reporting rather than an official commitment on the cited realme page, confirm the policy with realme if update longevity is a deciding factor.

Price difference in India: compare dated listings, not an undated “current” price
On October 7, 2026, 91mobiles showed Amazon listing prices of ₹23,157 for the Galaxy M36 and ₹20,199 for the P4R, a ₹2,958 difference in favor of the P4R. Gadgets 360 also showed a ₹20,199 starting price for the P4R on that date. An earlier Smartprix snapshot, marked last updated September 16, 2026, showed ₹21,999 for the M36 and ₹19,997 for the P4R. Which one should you buy?
Choose the Samsung Galaxy M36 5G if
- You prefer FHD+ resolution and a Super AMOLED panel over a higher refresh-rate ceiling.
- You want an ultrawide rear camera and OIS listed for the main camera.
- You value the lower reported weight or Samsung’s published security-update end date.
Choose the realme P4R 5G if
- You prioritize its larger stated battery capacity and 45W charging specification.
- You want the higher listed maximum refresh rate and slightly larger display diagonal.
- The HD+ LCD and single listed rear camera suit your needs, and the dated lower listing is available for your chosen variant.
