The Galaxy M36’s main advantages over the Galaxy M17 are its 120Hz display and 8MP ultrawide camera; the M17 has a 90Hz display and a 5MP ultrawide. Both list a 50MP optical-image-stabilized main camera and a 5,000mAh typical battery. Choose the M36 if those display and camera specifications matter to you; consider the M17 if its current price is lower enough to outweigh them. Samsung’s launch prices put the matching 8GB/128GB M36 ₹2,500 above the M17, but that is a historical launch-price difference, not today’s price gap.

Specifications are manufacturer listings, not independent test results. The higher refresh rate does not establish how much smoother every app will feel, and camera resolution alone does not establish which phone takes better photos. Samsung says software-release timing can change, so the stated support plans do not guarantee when a particular update will arrive. Which phone has the better display?
Both phones have a 16.91 cm FHD+ Super AMOLED display at 1080 × 2340 resolution. The M36’s listed refresh rate is 120Hz, compared with 90Hz on the M17. That is the clearest display-spec advantage for the M36; the cited specifications do not establish brightness, outdoor visibility, or measured motion performance.

How do the cameras compare?
Samsung lists a 50MP OIS main camera on both models, along with a 2MP rear camera. The difference in the listed secondary wide-angle camera is 8MP on the M36 versus 5MP on the M17. This is a resolution difference, not proof of better image quality. No independent head-to-head camera test is available in the cited material.

Do they have the same battery life?
Both phones are listed with a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery. Equal rated capacity does not mean equal real-world endurance: the listed figures alone do not show how long either model lasts in use.
What is the M36–M17 price difference?
Samsung’s India launch prices show the M36 costing ₹2,500 more than the M17 for the 8GB/128GB configurations. The figures below are historical launch prices published by Samsung, not current offers. For the M36, the 6GB/128GB launch price included a ₹1,000 instant bank discount; Samsung described the M17’s 4GB/128GB amount as a net price including a special launch offer.

Samsung announced M36 sales would start on 12 July 2025 and M17 sales on 13 October 2025. To compare what they cost now, check both phones at the same seller, with the same RAM and storage, and include any bank discount or other offer conditions. The launch-price subtraction does not predict the current difference.

What about performance, durability, and storage?
Samsung lists the Exynos 1380 for the M36 launch device and the Exynos 1330 for the M17. Chipset names alone do not establish real-world speed, gaming performance, or which phone will suit a particular workload; the cited material does not include an independent comparison.

Samsung’s M17 specifications list IP54 water- and dust-resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus, while its M36 launch announcement mentions Gorilla Glass Victus+. These claims do not provide a matched durability test, so they are not enough to declare one phone more durable overall. MicroSD support up to 2TB appears on Samsung’s cited M36 page; the cited M17 source does not verify its microSD support.

- Compare exact variants before deciding: RAM and storage configurations differ, and launch prices do not tell you the current offer.
