The Galaxy M36 5G is the stronger documented pick if you want a 120 Hz display, an 8 MP secondary rear camera and 4K video recording. The Galaxy F17 5G has a 90 Hz display, Samsung-advertised 25 W charging and a lighter, thinner body. Both have a 6.7-inch-class FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a 50 MP OIS main camera, a typical 5,000 mAh battery and microSD expansion. There is no dependable single price gap: compare the same RAM and storage configuration at the same seller on the same date.

Specifications are from Samsung India’s Galaxy M36 product page and Galaxy F17 product page. Screen measurements distinguish the full rectangular area from the rounded-corner viewing area. Samsung’s playback figures are manufacturer estimates, not independent battery tests.
Which phone has the better display?
Both phones list the same display size class, resolution and Super AMOLED panel type. The main stated difference is refresh rate: the M36 is specified at 120 Hz, while the F17 is specified at 90 Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother, though the visible benefit depends on what you do and the content or settings in use. Choose the M36 if that smoothness matters more to you; the F17 still offers a high-refresh-rate display by its listed specification.

How do their cameras and video specs compare?
Both list a 50 MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus a 2 MP camera. The M36’s other listed rear camera is 8 MP; the F17’s is 5 MP. Those megapixel counts do not establish which camera produces better images, so they should not be treated as a picture-quality verdict.

Samsung lists UHD 4K recording at 30 fps for the M36 and FHD recording at 30 fps for the F17. If recording at the higher listed resolution is important, the M36 has the documented advantage. Both phones list a 13 MP front camera, with f/2.2 on the M36 and f/2.0 on the F17.
Battery, charging and size
Both phones have a 5,000 mAh typical-capacity battery. Samsung’s pages estimate up to 17 hours of video playback for the M36 and up to 18 hours for the F17; those estimates are not evidence of a tested real-world battery-life winner. The F17 page advertises 25 W fast charging. The M36 specification information reviewed here does not give a charging wattage, so the available figures do not establish a direct charging-speed comparison.

The F17 is listed at 192 g and 7.5 mm thick, compared with 197 g and 7.7 mm for the M36. That makes the F17 5 g lighter and 0.2 mm thinner on the published specifications. Both Samsung pages list microSD support up to 2 TB; confirm card compatibility and capacity before buying a card.
Software support: how long are they listed to receive updates?
Samsung describes six generations of OS upgrades for both phones. The M36 page lists security updates through December 31, 2031; the F17 page lists them through September 30, 2031. These are the endpoints shown on Samsung’s product pages, not a promise that every update arrives on a particular date. Samsung says the M36 timing reflects its current plans and reserves the right to change release timing.

Galaxy M36 and F17 prices in India
Prices depend on the RAM and storage variant, seller, stock and date. Samsung India’s F17 purchase page, accessed October 7, 2026, listed the 4 GB / 128 GB model from ₹22,499 and the 6 GB / 128 GB model from ₹25,499, and also showed an 8 GB / 128 GB option. Third-party listings illustrate why a single “price difference” can mislead. Smartprix reported ₹21,999 for the M36 and ₹17,999 for the F17, with details last updated September 14, 2026. Separately, Gadgets 360 listed the M36 6 GB / 128 GB at ₹21,999 in a result crawled October 7, 2026. These are dated snapshots, not guaranteed prices for matching variants or sellers. The cited listings do not establish the original launch-price pair for equivalent configurations.

For a fair comparison, check the exact RAM and storage, then compare the total price from the same retailer on the same date. The available figures do not establish a guaranteed like-for-like checkout gap between the two phones.

Choose the Galaxy M36 if
- You want the higher listed refresh rate: 120 Hz rather than 90 Hz.
- You value the higher-resolution secondary rear camera specification and the listed 4K/30 fps video mode.
- The later stated security-update endpoint—December 31, 2031 rather than September 30, 2031—is relevant to your decision.
Choose the Galaxy F17 if
- You prefer the lighter, thinner phone according to Samsung’s listed dimensions.
- Samsung’s stated 25 W fast charging is useful to you; the available M36 specification does not provide a wattage for a direct comparison.
- You want to choose among the 4 GB, 6 GB or 8 GB RAM options shown on its purchase page, after checking the seller’s current configuration and price.
For either model, compare prices using the same storage capacity and RAM where possible. A cheaper listing for a different configuration is not a like-for-like value comparison.
