For India-market 5G models, the Galaxy M35 5G stands out on paper for its 120 Hz display, 6,000 mAh battery and listed 8 MP ultrawide camera. The Galaxy A16 5G has a slightly larger screen, a lighter and slimmer listed design, IP54 protection and Samsung’s explicit offer of up to six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security maintenance. Neither spec sheet proves which phone performs better in everyday use, and there is no dependable single price difference without checking matching variants and current offers.
Galaxy M35 vs Galaxy A16: key specifications
This comparison covers India-market 5G versions. Samsung warns that A16 specifications, supported bands and bundles can vary by country, so check the exact model sold where you live.

Which phone has the better screen?
The A16 has the slightly larger listed display diagonal at 6.7 inches, compared with the M35’s 6.6-inch class. The M35’s 120 Hz refresh rate is higher than the A16’s 90 Hz, which can make compatible on-screen motion appear smoother. Samsung also claims up to 1,000 nits in high-brightness mode for the M35. Those are specification and manufacturer claims, not a controlled comparison of brightness or viewing quality.

Do the M35’s processor and cameras make it faster or better?
The M35’s announced Exynos 1380 is a clearly named 5 nm processor. Samsung’s cited A16 specification table gives CPU speeds but does not identify its chip; third-party listings name the India A16 5G processor as Dimensity 6300. Chip names alone do not establish which phone will feel faster for a particular app or game, and no independently verified benchmark comparison is available here.
On paper, the M35 camera setup includes an 8 MP ultrawide camera, while Samsung lists a 5 MP secondary camera for the A16. The A16’s India page states that its main camera has no optical image stabilization. These details describe hardware, not the relative quality of photos: image processing, lighting and camera testing matter, and no controlled photo comparison establishes a winner.

Battery capacity, charging and everyday handling
The M35 has a nominal 6,000 mAh battery, 1,000 mAh more than the A16’s 5,000 mAh typical capacity. That difference does not by itself predict screen-on time or how often either phone needs charging. Actual endurance depends on settings, signal, workload and other conditions; the figures are capacities, not runtime test results.
The A16 is listed at 192 g and 7.9 mm thick, while the third-party comparison lists the M35 at 222 g and 9.1 mm. The A16’s cited official figures therefore indicate a lighter, slimmer phone; people choosing between them should weigh that handling difference against the M35’s larger battery capacity.

The M35 announcement specifies 25 W charging. Samsung describes the A16 as supporting Super Fast Charging, and the cited A16 product page says its 25 W wall charger is sold separately. Check the exact retail box before buying rather than assuming a charger is included.
Durability, updates and storage trade-offs
Samsung states that the A16 has an IP54 rating. This is a stated dust- and water-resistance rating, not a claim that the phone is waterproof. Samsung also offers up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security maintenance for the cited A16 page, while noting that support policies may change and are not a commitment or obligation.

Samsung’s M35 launch announcement describes Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and Knox features, but it does not establish a directly comparable duration for software updates. Do not infer that its support period matches the A16’s stated offer.

Galaxy M35 and A16 prices in India
Samsung’s 17 July 2024 India launch announcement gave the following M35 prices. These are historical launch prices, not a statement of current retail pricing; launch discounts described at the time should not be treated as active offers.

The inspected comparison listings do not provide a stable, like-for-like current price difference. 91mobiles displayed ₹24,499 for the M35 and ₹21,498 for the A16, while Smartprix showed different prices on a page marked updated 14 September 2026. These are seller-linked listing figures, not fixed manufacturer prices, and compared storage configurations may differ. The Smartprix comparison listing illustrates why a displayed figure should be checked rather than assumed to be the price you will pay.
- Compare the same retailer and buying date for both phones.
- Match RAM and storage capacity, and check color and exact model variant.
- Separate the listed selling price from card, exchange or coupon discounts, which may have different eligibility conditions.
- Use the final checkout price to decide value; do not compare a discounted price on one phone with an undiscounted price on the other.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy M35 5G if
- You prioritize a 120 Hz display over the A16’s slightly larger 90 Hz screen.
- You want the larger stated battery capacity.
- The listed 8 MP ultrawide camera is important to your intended camera setup.
Choose the Galaxy A16 5G if
- You prefer the slightly larger display and the lighter, thinner figures Samsung lists for the cited variant.
- You value its stated IP54 rating.
- Samsung’s stated OS-upgrade and security-maintenance offer is a priority.
Neither set of specifications settles the overall value question: it depends on the exact RAM/storage variants and live offers. Compare those before choosing, and treat chipset, camera and battery specifications as clues rather than proof of real-world superiority.
