The Galaxy M36 5G is the newer India-market model, with a larger 6.7-inch display, an Exynos 1380 chipset, 4K recording from its front and rear cameras, and longer software support announced at launch. The Galaxy M34 5G has the larger stated battery: 6000mAh versus 5000mAh. Both are listed with 120Hz Super AMOLED screens, 50MP OIS main cameras, and 25W charging. Which makes more sense depends on whether you value the M36’s newer features or the M34’s battery capacity—and on their current like-for-like prices.

The specifications and launch terms above come from Samsung’s India announcements for the M34, dated July 7, 2023, and the M36, dated June 30, 2025. They describe manufacturer-listed specifications and launch plans, not independent test results or current availability.
What changed from the M34 to the M36?
The M36 has the larger display and newer listed chipset
The M36’s screen measures 6.7 inches, compared with 6.5 inches on the M34. Both announcements specify FHD+ Super AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung lists Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the M36 and Gorilla Glass 5 for the M34; the M36 announcement also highlights its 7.7mm thickness.
Samsung lists a 5nm Exynos 1380 and vapor cooling chamber in the M36, versus a 5nm Exynos 1280 in the M34. Those specifications suggest what the manufacturer put in each phone, but they are not a controlled performance comparison. No benchmark or hands-on result here establishes how much faster one feels in a particular app or game.

The M36 announcement specifies 4K video recording
Both phones have a 13MP front camera and a 50MP OIS main rear camera according to Samsung. For the M34, the announcement also names an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view and a 2MP camera. The M36 is described as having a 50MP OIS triple-camera system, with Auto Night Mode, Photo Remaster, and Object Eraser among its promoted features.
Samsung specifically says the M36’s front and rear cameras record 4K video. Its M34 announcement does not state 4K recording, so that detail should not be treated as a confirmed M34 capability based on these sources. The listed features alone do not establish which phone takes better photos or video.

The M34 has the higher stated battery capacity
The M34 is listed with a 6000mAh typical battery, while the M36 is listed with 5000mAh. Both support 25W charging. Capacity is a useful specification, but it does not by itself show which phone lasts longer: real battery life also depends on the display, network conditions, settings, software, and how the phone is used. No comparable battery-life test is established here.
The M36 has the longer update commitment announced at launch
Samsung announced up to four generations of OS upgrades and up to five years of security updates for the M34. For the M36, it announced six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. These are launch-announced support commitments; they do not confirm the current rollout status of a particular update on either phone.

What were the India launch prices, and what is the current price difference?
Samsung’s launch prices are historical reference points, not current market prices. The M34’s 6GB+128GB configuration was announced at INR 16,999 as an introductory price with select bank cards, and its 8GB+128GB version at INR 18,999. For the M36, Samsung listed INR 16,499 for 6GB+128GB including an INR 1,000 instant bank discount, INR 17,999 for 8GB+128GB, and INR 20,999 for 8GB+256GB.
These launch terms come from different years and are not a direct price comparison: one amount is explicitly conditional on select bank cards, and the M36’s lowest listed amount includes a specified instant discount. The cited announcements do not establish a current price difference, and current stock or offers may vary.

For a useful present-day comparison, check both phones on the same date in India and match RAM and storage. Compare the listed selling price separately from bank discounts and exchange offers, and check the seller and exact variant before deciding. Do not compare a discounted price on one model with an undiscounted price on the other.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the M36 if its newer listed features matter more
- You want the larger 6.7-inch display.
- You value Samsung’s launch-announced six Android generations and six years of security updates.
- You want the M36’s explicitly stated 4K recording on both front and rear cameras, or its listed Exynos 1380 and vapor cooling chamber.
- You are considering Circle to Search with Google, Gemini Live, or Knox Vault among its named features.
Consider the M34 if stated battery capacity is your priority
- You prefer its 6000mAh stated battery capacity to the M36’s 5000mAh.
- You want the listed 8MP, 120-degree ultrawide camera specification.
- You find it at a better current price after matching RAM and storage and accounting for offer conditions.
On paper, the M36 is the stronger fit for a larger screen and longer announced support, while the M34 is the option with greater stated battery capacity. Neither specification sheet establishes a real-world performance, endurance, or camera-quality winner; make the final choice using the features you need and verified prices for equivalent configurations.
