The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G has the stronger published spec sheet. Its 1080×2340 FHD+ Super AMOLED panel is sharper and uses a different panel technology than the Galaxy M17e 5G’s 720×1600 HD+ PLS LCD, and Samsung lists optical image stabilization (OIS) for its rear camera system, which the M17e’s listing does not include. Both phones list the same 6000mAh typical battery and the same software support promise. On price, the only official figures we could confirm are the M17e’s March 2026 launch prices. No reliable M47 price is established, so a current price difference cannot be stated.
This is a comparison of Samsung India’s published specifications. It is not based on hands-on testing, so it makes no claims about speed, battery endurance, or photo quality.
What the price difference actually is
Samsung Newsroom India announced the Galaxy M17e 5G on 18 March 2026 with launch prices of ₹13,999 for 4GB/128GB and ₹15,499 for 6GB/128GB. Sales began on 20 March 2026 through Samsung.com, Amazon, and selected retail stores (Samsung Newsroom India launch announcement).

Launch prices are not current prices. The Samsung India product page for the M17e 4GB/128GB model (Galaxy M17e 5G on Samsung India) reads “Not for sale” at the time of writing. Subtracting a March launch price from an unknown current price would produce a number that means nothing, so this article does not state a price gap. Check the live price on the product pages and at retailers before deciding.

Display: resolution and panel technology
The M47 has more pixels on screen, at 1080×2340 against 720×1600, and a Super AMOLED panel instead of PLS LCD. Both phones have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. Samsung’s listings do not say whether either phone runs at 120Hz by default or how it switches refresh rates, so that behavior should be checked in hands-on reviews. The listings also do not provide brightness or color figures, so this comparison cannot say how the two screens look in direct sunlight or indoors.

Cameras: lens count and stabilization
The M47 has three rear lenses (50MP, 5MP, and 2MP) and a 12MP front camera. The M17e has two rear lenses (50MP and 2MP) and an 8MP front camera. The main practical difference on paper is OIS. Samsung lists it for the M47’s rear camera system and does not list it for the M17e. OIS reduces the blur caused by hand movement, which is most noticeable in low-light photos and handheld video. Lens count alone does not show photo quality, and this comparison does not rank the cameras’ output.

Battery and weight
Both phones list a 6000mAh typical battery capacity. “Typical” is Samsung’s rated figure and does not guarantee the same runtime on every phone or in every use case. The M17e weighs 199g and the M47 weighs 206g, a difference of 7g that most buyers will not notice in hand.

Software and security support
Samsung lists six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from each phone’s first global launch for both models. The M47’s product page states its security update period runs through 31 July 2032. The M17e’s page gives the six-year figure without a fixed end date. Because support is counted from first global launch, the end date depends on when that launch happened, not on when you buy the phone.

Which phone fits which buyer
- Choose the Galaxy M47 5G if a sharper AMOLED screen and rear OIS matter more to you than the cheapest price, and you can confirm the M47’s current price and stock at a retailer.
- Choose the Galaxy M17e 5G if the lower price matters most, and a live check shows it is still cheaper than the M47 in your market. Compare the 4GB and 6GB variants separately.
- Battery and software support do not separate the two on published figures, so decide on display, cameras, and price.
Checks before you buy
- Open the Samsung India product page for each model and note its current status. The M17e 4GB/128GB page reads “Not for sale” at the time of writing.
- Compare the live prices of the same storage variant. The M17e’s launch prices (₹13,999 and ₹15,499) do not apply to the M47 or to current retail prices.
- Check the M47’s stock and launch-period availability at your chosen retailer, since its page gives a launch date of 29 June 2026 but no price.
- Compare warranty and return terms at each retailer. These are not covered by Samsung’s specification listings.
- Confirm that the 5G bands on the phone match your mobile carrier. This comparison does not cover network band support.
