The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G is the better fit if you want a sharper AMOLED display, optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main camera, and a longer stated software-support commitment. The vivo T5 Lite 5G instead offers a larger battery, faster listed charging, and a higher refresh rate. In a 91mobiles Amazon India snapshot accessed on 7 October 2026, the Samsung was listed ₹709 higher; marketplace prices can change.

Manufacturer specifications establish the listed hardware, but they do not settle comparative performance, everyday battery life, or camera results. No controlled head-to-head test is established by the sources cited here.
Which display is better for your use?
The M17’s 1080 × 2340 resolution is higher than the T5 Lite’s 720 × 1600, and its Super AMOLED panel is a different display technology from the vivo’s LCD. That makes Samsung the paper choice if screen detail and an AMOLED panel are your priority. The T5 Lite’s 120 Hz specification is higher than the M17’s 90 Hz, so vivo is the paper choice if you prioritize a higher refresh rate. Neither specification by itself establishes how every app or game will look or feel.
How do the cameras compare?
Samsung lists a 50 MP main camera with OIS, plus 5 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro cameras. OIS is a hardware stabilization feature on the main camera; it is not a guarantee of better photos in every situation. vivo’s official product page promotes a 50 MP main camera and lists a 5 MP selfie camera. Its main-camera listing does not establish an OIS feature in the reviewed source. The third-party comparison lists a 0.08 MP auxiliary camera for vivo, which is not directly comparable to Samsung’s two named additional cameras.

For selfies, Samsung lists 13 MP compared with vivo’s 5 MP. Resolution is only one camera specification, so these figures should not be treated as a direct measure of image quality.
Battery size and charging: vivo’s paper advantage
vivo lists a 6,500 mAh typical battery and a 6,355 mAh rated capacity; Samsung lists 5,000 mAh typical. These capacity figures favor vivo on paper, but they do not prove how long either phone lasts in a particular person’s use. vivo says its endurance and charging claims are based on controlled laboratory tests and that actual results can vary.

For wired charging, vivo lists maximum FlashCharge output of 44 W, while Samsung lists 25 W. The higher maximum wattage does not by itself tell you how long a full charge takes: charging conditions and usage matter, and vivo notes that power varies by scenario and conditions.
Software support and long-term ownership
Samsung states that the M17 will receive six generations of operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates. Samsung’s product page gives 30 September 2031 as the security-update end date. The 91mobiles comparison lists Android 16, two years of OS upgrades, and four years of security updates for the T5 Lite; vivo’s official page reviewed for this comparison did not confirm that duration. On the evidence available, Samsung has the stronger stated support commitment.
