In Smartprix’s comparison data last updated September 16, 2026, the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G is listed at ₹17,910 and the realme P4R 5G at ₹19,997—a difference of ₹2,087, with the P4R higher. The M17 is the more compelling fit if you value a sharper Super AMOLED display and a lighter body; the P4R’s listed advantages are its much larger battery and faster charging. Check the current price for the exact RAM and storage variant before buying.

The M17 has the clearer display on the listed specifications: its 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel is FHD+ at 1080 × 2340, compared with the P4R’s 6.81-inch HD+ LCD at 720 × 1570. The P4R counters with a higher 144Hz refresh rate, versus 90Hz on the M17, and a slightly larger screen.

In practical terms, favor the M17 if resolution and AMOLED are your priorities. Favor the P4R if you prioritize a faster refresh rate and a larger display. Refresh rate alone does not make the P4R’s panel sharper; the listed resolution is lower.
Which has better battery life and charging?
The P4R has the larger listed battery and higher charging wattage: 8000mAh and 45W, against the M17’s 5000mAh and 25W. The capacity and charging specifications favor the P4R on paper, but they do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use. Samsung says the M17’s 25W charger is sold separately.

Are the cameras better on the Galaxy M17?
The M17 offers a more detailed camera specification: 50MP, 5MP, and 2MP rear cameras, OIS on the main camera, and a 13MP front camera. The P4R’s manufacturer page advertises a 50MP main rear camera; Smartprix lists an 8MP front camera. More cameras or a higher megapixel count do not, by themselves, prove better photos.

How do performance and software support compare?
The named processors are Samsung Exynos 1330 for the M17 and MediaTek Dimensity 6300 for the P4R. Those chipset names alone are not enough to rank speed, gaming performance, or heat: no controlled independent M17-versus-P4R benchmark or hands-on comparison is established here.
Samsung advertises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the M17, while stating that this describes its current plans and is not a commitment. realme advertises Android 16-based realme UI 7.0 for the P4R. These are manufacturer statements; they do not provide a like-for-like independent assessment of the phones’ update experience.

Which phone is more durable and portable?
Samsung lists IP54 for the M17. Its water- and dust-resistance protection is subject to wear and test-condition limits. realme advertises IP65 and MIL-STD-810H shock resistance for the P4R. These ratings and claims are not a guarantee against damage in every real-world situation.

The M17 is listed at 192g and 7.5mm, compared with 224g and 8.8mm for the P4R. That makes the M17 the lighter and slimmer option on the comparison listing; the P4R’s larger listed battery comes with a heavier, thicker body.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy M17 if you prefer its FHD+ Super AMOLED display, lighter and slimmer listed dimensions, OIS-equipped main camera specification, or Samsung’s stated update plan.
- Choose the realme P4R if you prioritize its larger listed battery, higher charging wattage, larger screen, or 144Hz refresh rate.
Neither is an evidence-based overall winner for performance, camera quality, or real-world battery endurance from specifications alone. The best fit depends on which trade-offs matter to you and the current price of your exact variant. Smartprix lists the M17 release date as October 10, 2025, and the P4R release date as June 10, 2026; the latter is a comparison-site listing, not an independently confirmed launch notice.
