The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G is the stronger paper choice for a sharper AMOLED display, more versatile listed cameras and a longer reported update commitment. The OnePlus N6x suits buyers who prefer a larger 120 Hz screen and a higher stated battery capacity. Prices depend on the variant and seller, and the available sources do not establish a real-world performance, camera or battery-life winner.
Samsung Galaxy M17 vs OnePlus N6x 5G: key specs
This comparison is for the India-market Samsung Galaxy M17 5G and OnePlus N6x. The table combines manufacturer specifications with 91mobiles listings; where a specification comes from a comparison listing rather than an official product page, that is identified.
| Specification | Samsung Galaxy M17 5G | OnePlus N6x |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.7-inch-class Super AMOLED, 1080 × 2340, 90 Hz; Samsung specification: Samsung India | 6.8-inch, 720 × 1570 IPS LCD, 120 Hz; display type and resolution are listed by 91mobiles. OnePlus confirms a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and notes actual rates can vary by app and game settings: OnePlus India. |
| Processor | Exynos 1330 (Samsung specification) | Dimensity 6360 Apex (OnePlus specification) |
| Rear cameras | 50 MP main, 5 MP ultra-wide and 2 MP macro (Samsung specification) | 13 MP listed by 91mobiles |
| Front camera | 13 MP (Samsung specification) | 5 MP listed by 91mobiles |
| Battery and charging | 5,000 mAh typical capacity; 25 W charging (Samsung specification) | 7,000 mAh equivalent capacity stated by OnePlus; up to 2.5 days is a OnePlus Test Lab claim, not an independent estimate. 91mobiles lists 15 W charging. |
| Storage configurations in comparison listing | 128 GB | 64 GB and 128 GB |
| Software support | Samsung’s product page says security updates are valid until September 30, 2031. 91mobiles reports six years of OS and security updates. | 91mobiles reports two years of OS updates and three years of security updates; this duration is secondary reporting and was not confirmed by an official policy page in the sources cited here. |
Which phone has the better display?
The M17 has the sharper listed display: its 1080 × 2340 Super AMOLED panel offers higher resolution and a different display technology from the N6x’s listed 720 × 1570 IPS LCD. The N6x has the larger screen at 6.8 inches and the higher refresh rate at 120 Hz, compared with the M17’s 90 Hz. In practical terms, choose the Samsung if resolution and AMOLED are priorities; choose the OnePlus if screen size and refresh rate matter more. Specifications alone do not establish which panel looks better to an individual viewer.
Camera specifications: more options on Samsung, no proven photo winner
Samsung lists three rear cameras—a 50 MP main, 5 MP ultra-wide and 2 MP macro—while the 91mobiles comparison lists a single 13 MP rear camera for the N6x. Their listed front cameras are 13 MP for Samsung and 5 MP for OnePlus. That makes the M17 more flexible on paper, particularly if you want an ultra-wide camera. Megapixel counts and camera quantity do not prove image quality, however; the cited sources do not provide a matched independent camera test.

Battery capacity, charging and the runtime claim
Samsung lists a 5,000 mAh typical-capacity battery and 25 W charging. OnePlus states that the N6x has a 7,000 mAh equivalent battery capacity, and 91mobiles lists 15 W charging for it. The capacity figures favor the N6x on paper, but battery capacity alone cannot predict how long either phone lasts under a particular person’s use.
OnePlus says the N6x can provide “up to 2.5 days” on one charge, based on OnePlus Test Lab results associated with its July 31, 2026 launch. The company cautions that actual use varies with network conditions, apps, habits, battery age and other factors. Treat the figure as a manufacturer test claim, not a guaranteed runtime: OnePlus N6x.

Price difference in India
Prices checked October 4, 2026. Samsung India’s buy page lists the Galaxy M17 at ₹19,999 for 4/128 GB and ₹22,999 for 6/128 GB; the selected 4/128 GB page also showed “Not for sale.” On the same access date, 91mobiles displayed a price snapshot of ₹21,999 for Samsung and ₹20,999 for OnePlus. The comparison-page figures are not guaranteed live prices and may not represent matching memory configurations, so the ₹1,000 displayed gap is not a reliable like-for-like price difference.

Software updates and long-term ownership
Samsung’s official product information gives a specific security-update validity date: September 30, 2031. Separately, 91mobiles reports six years of OS and security updates for the M17, compared with two OS years and three security years for the N6x. The N6x durations are secondary reporting rather than an official OnePlus support-policy confirmation in the cited sources, so weigh them accordingly if update longevity is a major reason for your choice.

Choose the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G if
- You prefer a higher-resolution Super AMOLED display over a larger, faster-refreshing LCD.
- You want the additional listed rear-camera options, including an ultra-wide camera.
- You value Samsung’s stated security-update date and the longer update duration reported by 91mobiles.
Choose the OnePlus N6x if
- You prioritize a larger 6.8-inch display and its listed 120 Hz refresh rate.
- You value its higher stated battery capacity and understand that the 2.5-day figure is a OnePlus lab claim, not a promise for your usage.
- You find a suitable storage variant at a competitive live price after checking the seller and stock.
The comparison source says the N6x had not yet been reviewed, and the cited material does not include matched testing of these two phones. As a result, chipset names and camera specifications are not enough to declare either one faster or better at photography, and battery capacity or a vendor lab claim cannot settle which lasts longer in everyday use.
