What changed between the F23 and F16?

Display: AMOLED and size versus refresh rate

The F16 has the larger panel at 6.7 inches and uses Super AMOLED, while the F23’s 6.6-inch panel is listed as TFT. Those characteristics make the F16 the more compelling specification choice if you value a larger AMOLED screen. The F23 refreshes at 120 Hz, compared with 90 Hz for the F16, which may appeal if you prioritize smoother scrolling and supported animations. The F23 also has more listed vertical pixels, but resolution alone does not establish which display looks better.

Chipset: different platforms, no established winner

The F23 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G, while the F16 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300. The chip names and launch dates alone do not prove which phone performs better in everyday use or games. If performance is decisive, look for independent testing of the exact regional model and software version you plan to buy; no comparable benchmark result is established here.

Cameras: resolution differences are not image-quality results

Both phones list a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The F23 has an 8 MP ultrawide camera versus 5 MP on the F16; the F16’s front camera is listed at 13 MP versus 8 MP on the F23. These are resolution specifications, not evidence that one phone takes better photos. Image processing, lens and sensor characteristics, and shooting conditions also matter.

Battery and storage

Both are in the 5000 mAh battery class. Samsung labels the F16’s 5000 mAh figure as typical, based on third-party laboratory testing, and gives its rated/minimum capacity as 4860 mAh. Samsung notes that actual battery life varies with usage and conditions. The shared capacity class does not establish equal real-world endurance.

Software support: the F16 has the clearer stated horizon

The comparison listing identifies Android 12 for the F23 and Android 15 for the F16, but installed software can change through updates and may vary by region. Samsung’s F16 product page lists security updates through October 31, 2030. Samsung describes its update policy as a current plan that may change, rather than a binding commitment. Check the phone’s current update status before buying an older-stock F23.

Which phone should you choose?

Choose the Galaxy F16 5G if

  • You want the newer launch generation and a larger Super AMOLED display.
  • A 13 MP listed selfie camera matters more to you than the F23’s higher-resolution ultrawide specification.
  • You value Samsung’s stated security-update horizon, while recognizing that the company says its policy may change.

Consider the Galaxy F23 5G if

  • A 120 Hz refresh rate is more important to you than the F16’s AMOLED panel and larger screen.
  • You prefer the listed Snapdragon 750G platform, but verify independent performance results for your needs rather than assuming a winner from the chipset name.
  • You want the higher-resolution ultrawide specification and are satisfied with the phone’s current software and security status.

Neither phone is an automatic all-round winner on these specifications. Make the decision around the features you will use most, then compare the exact variant and verified checkout price.
