The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G suits buyers who want a sharper Super AMOLED screen and a stated long software-support commitment. The realme P4R 5G is the spec-sheet choice for a higher refresh rate, larger listed battery and faster-rated charging. A reliable current price difference cannot be established from the official listings reviewed: Samsung’s cited F17 page says “Not for sale,” while realme’s comparison page does not provide a matched Samsung price.

Choose the F17 for resolution and panel type
Samsung lists a 1080 × 2340 FHD+ Super AMOLED panel at 90 Hz. That gives the F17 the stronger documented specifications for resolution and display technology in this comparison.

Choose the P4R for maximum refresh rate
realme lists a larger 17.30 cm HD+ LCD with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The higher refresh-rate figure does not by itself make it the better display: resolution, panel type and refresh rate describe different characteristics.
Battery and charging: what the figures establish
realme lists an 8,000 mAh typical battery, with 7,780 mAh rated capacity, and 45 W charging. Samsung lists 5,000 mAh typical capacity and 25 W charging for the F17. These manufacturer ratings make the P4R the stronger paper choice for capacity and charging wattage, but they do not establish how long either phone lasts in use or how quickly it charges in real conditions.

Performance, cameras and build
Processor
The F17 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1330, with the detailed listing specifying an octa-core processor up to 2.4 GHz. The P4R lists an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300. The cited sources do not provide comparable independent benchmarks, so the processor names alone are not enough to call a speed winner.

Samsung lists three rear cameras—50 MP, 5 MP and 2 MP—and specifies optical image stabilisation on the rear camera. realme lists one 50 MP wide rear camera with autofocus. The F17 also has the higher listed front-camera resolution, 13 MP versus 8 MP. Camera count and megapixels do not establish which phone takes better photos; that requires comparable testing.

Size and protection
Samsung’s listed F17 is thinner and lighter at 7.5 mm and 192 g, versus about 8.8 mm and 224 g for the P4R. These are specification differences, not a guarantee about which handset feels more comfortable. Samsung advertises IP54 and front Gorilla Glass Victus; realme’s cited page lists Panda-1681 cover glass but no IP rating. The omission does not establish that the P4R has no water or dust protection.
Software support and storage choices
Samsung advertises six generations of operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates for the F17. Its detailed specifications page gives a security-support date through 30 September 2031. The reviewed realme P4R specifications page names realme UI but does not give an equivalent support duration, so a direct support-period comparison is not available from that source.

Available listed configurations also differ: Samsung’s cited pages show 4 GB or 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage, while realme lists those two combinations plus 6 GB RAM with 256 GB storage. Samsung specifies microSD expansion up to 2 TB in a hybrid SIM slot. realme says storage card support is available, but the cited page does not state a maximum capacity. Confirm the regional variant and slot arrangement before buying.
What is the price difference?
A dependable current price difference is not established by the cited official listings. The Samsung page for the 6 GB/128 GB F17 currently shows “Not for sale.” The realme India store comparison displays ₹20,999 beside ₹32,999, but that display does not establish a like-for-like price for every configuration or whether the shown amount depends on an offer. It also supplies no matched, live Samsung price.

For a fair comparison, check prices on the same day for the same RAM and storage tier, and distinguish the listed price from a sale price or conditional bank or exchange offer. Which phone should you choose?
- Pick the Galaxy F17 on specifications if FHD+ resolution, Super AMOLED, a lighter and thinner listed body, or Samsung’s stated software-support commitment matter most.
- Pick the realme P4R on specifications if a higher maximum refresh rate, larger listed battery capacity or higher charging wattage matters most.
- Compare the exact price before deciding if budget is the deciding factor. The official listings cited here do not establish a current same-configuration price difference.
