The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G and vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G each win on different things. Samsung’s case rests on a Super AMOLED panel, optical image stabilisation on its main camera, an IP54 rating and a published six-year software commitment. vivo’s case rests on a larger 6,500mAh battery, 44W charging, an IP65 rating and a 120Hz LCD. On price, the available figures do not support a confident gap. Samsung’s India launch prices date from 11 September 2025, Samsung’s India product page showed “Not for sale” when checked, and vivo’s India store showed one variant at ₹26,999 in 2026. The specifications below are manufacturer-published figures for India, not independent test results.

Display: sharpness, panel type and refresh rate
Samsung’s panel has more pixels, but vivo’s has the faster refresh rate. Full HD+ is conventionally 2400×1080, so the Galaxy F17 5G packs considerably more pixels into its screen than the 1600×720 LCD on the T5 Lite. A Super AMOLED panel also generally produces deeper blacks than an LCD, which tends to show in dark scenes and in contrast-heavy content. Refresh rate is the reverse trade-off: up to 120Hz makes scrolling and animations look smoother, and Samsung’s published figures do not state a refresh rate for the F17 5G, so no comparison on that axis can be drawn.

Brightness figures come from each company’s own pages and use different measurement methods. Samsung’s 1100-nit figure is a product-page claim, and vivo’s 1200-nit figure is an HBM (high brightness mode) peak, which applies to limited conditions. Neither figure tells you how the screen looks outdoors in direct sun, so treat both as marketing numbers until a reviewer measures them.

Processor and cameras
The two chips are both entry-level 5G processors, and the published figures give no basis for naming a performance winner. The Exynos 1330 is a 5nm chip, while the Dimensity 6300 is listed with eight cores clocked up to 2.4GHz. Benchmark results, sustained-load behaviour and gaming performance are not established by the sources reviewed.
The cameras differ more clearly on paper. Samsung lists a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, which reduces blur from hand movement in low light and during video. It also adds ultra-wide and macro lenses. vivo lists a 50MP main camera and a 0.08MP secondary camera, a resolution so low that its purpose is not stated in the listing. A lens list is not a photo test, so the difference here is in hardware, not in image quality.

Battery, charging and durability
vivo’s battery and charging specifications are larger on paper. A 6,500mAh cell charged at 44W should, in principle, refill faster than a 5,000mAh cell at 25W, but actual charge times depend on temperature, the charger and cable used, and how the battery manages heat. Endurance depends on screen time, network conditions and apps, and no battery test was published for either phone.
Both phones carry dust and water ratings, but neither is waterproof in the immersion sense. IP54 means protection against limited dust ingress and water splashed from any direction. IP65 is dust-tight and resists low-pressure water jets. Neither rating covers submersion, so avoid pool or sink-level exposure with either phone. Samsung also states Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the F17 5G; vivo’s glass is not stated.

Software support
Samsung’s published commitment is the clearest support statement in either set of figures: six Android generation upgrades and six years of security updates, as stated in its launch announcement. This is a company commitment, not a measured result, and it applies to the F17 5G as launched. vivo’s listing names Android 16 with OriginOS 6, but it does not state how many upgrades or how many years of security patches the T5 Lite 44W 5G will receive. Buyers who plan to keep a phone for several years should treat the Samsung figure as the only one of the two that is stated in full.
Price difference: what the figures do and do not show
The two phones do not have comparable current prices in the published sources. The table shows each price with its date and variant.

Why the figures cannot be subtracted
It is tempting to set ₹26,999 against ₹13,999 and call the result a price gap. That comparison fails on three counts. The Samsung figures are launch prices from more than a year before the date of this article, while the vivo figure is a live store price from a different time. The variants also differ: the vivo price is for 256GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, while the cheapest Samsung option has 128GB. Finally, a launch price and a store price may reflect different discounts, offers or seller terms. Any statement that one phone costs a specific amount less than the other would overstate what the published figures support.

- Open Samsung’s India website, go to the Galaxy F17 5G product page, and note whether it shows a price or “Not for sale”.
- Open the vivo Official E-Store India, search for T5 Lite 44W 5G, and select each RAM and storage option to record its price.
- Pair the phones by matching RAM and storage. If Samsung’s 8GB+128GB model is not on sale, compare the closest available configuration and say so.
- Check whether the displayed price includes a bank offer, a coupon or a limited-time discount, and note the seller and the date you checked.
- Repeat the check on the day you buy, because prices and stock for both phones can change.
Which phone fits which buyer
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy F17 5G if you value a Super AMOLED panel, optical image stabilisation on the main camera, a stated six-year security-update commitment, or Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
- Choose the vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G if you want the larger 6,500mAh battery, faster 44W charging, the higher IP65 rating, or a screen with up to 120Hz refresh, and you accept a lower-resolution LCD.
- Do not decide on price alone until you have compared the same RAM and storage configuration at the same time on both official stores.
Settle the choice on the axes that matter most to you. For most buyers that means display type and software support on the Samsung side, and battery, charging and water resistance on the vivo side.
