The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Ultra is a premium Windows laptop with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) processors, a 16-inch OLED touchscreen and, in selected configurations, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 laptop graphics. That combination makes it a credible option for creative work and gaming—but it does not beat the MacBook Pro across every workload. In Tom’s Guide’s comparison of specific models, the MacBook Pro 16-inch M5 Pro led in single-core performance and video conversion, while the RTX 5070 Galaxy Book6 Ultra delivered higher frame rates in the two games tested.
What processor and graphics does the Galaxy Book6 Ultra use?
The Ultra belongs to Samsung’s Galaxy Book6 generation, built around Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, code-named Panther Lake. Samsung says the platform is built on Intel 18A and includes an NPU rated up to 50 TOPS; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance results. Samsung’s global launch announcement describes the Ultra as available with optional GeForce RTX 5070 or RTX 5060 laptop GPUs.
Regional configurations can also use integrated Intel Arc graphics. The exact processor and graphics pairing varies by market and SKU, so the product name alone does not tell you whether a particular unit has an RTX GPU. Check the configuration listing before buying.

What display does it have?
Samsung’s specifications list a 16-inch WQXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen with adaptive 30–120 Hz refresh and anti-reflective treatment. Samsung’s global launch material specifies up to 1,000 nits HDR peak brightness and 500 nits SDR peak brightness. These are manufacturer-published figures; confirm the specifications for the local model you are considering. Samsung Global Newsroom
#1 Best Overall
- BUILT FOR YOUR BUSIEST DAYS: Everyday activities feel effortless with the latest Intel Core Ultra 7 355 Processor (PTL) and accelerated AI capabilities from the Intel NPU
- BIG SCREEN. BIG EXPERIENCE: This Samsung Galaxy laptop makes everything look crisp and bright with an up to 60Hz refresh rate and 350 nits of peak luminosity
- SLIM DESIGN. STRONG PERFORMANCE: This PC laptop is shaped to slip right into your lifestyle with a lightweight build that includes a perfectly symmetrical keyboard and touchpad design
- TEXT AND CALL RIGHT FROM YOUR PC: Respond to phone calls and text messages directly from your laptop PC² without checking your Galaxy phone
- SHARING BETWEEN DEVICES IS A BREEZE: Galaxy Book6 effortlessly sends large files, photos and documents without having to email them or install extra transfer apps
The OLED panel and high refresh rate suit a mix of media, creative work and games. However, display features do not erase the practical difference between an RTX-equipped model and one that relies on integrated Arc graphics for demanding graphics workloads.
How did it compare with the MacBook Pro in testing?
In a May 7, 2026 review, Tom’s Guide tested a Galaxy Book6 Ultra with a Core Ultra 7 356H, RTX 5070, 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and 1 TB storage against a 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro. The results below are specific to those machines and the publication’s test methods; they are not a universal ranking of every configuration. Tom’s Guide’s review and methodology
| Tom’s Guide test | Galaxy Book6 Ultra | MacBook Pro 16-inch M5 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 2,852 | 4,306 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 16,655 | 16,850 |
| Handbrake video conversion | 3:14 | 1:45 |
| Assassin’s Creed Shadows, 1080p | 54 fps | 40 fps |
| Cyberpunk 2077, 1080p | 36 fps | 22 fps |
The MacBook Pro scored higher in Geekbench 6 single-core performance, while the multi-core results were close. It also finished the cited Handbrake conversion sooner. In the two listed 1080p games, the RTX 5070 Galaxy Book6 Ultra produced higher frame rates. Tom’s Guide also reported that DLSS and small settings changes raised the Samsung’s Cyberpunk 2077 result to 112 fps and its Shadow of the Tomb Raider result to 164 fps. Those figures use different settings and are not directly comparable with the base results in the table.

How long does the battery last?
Tom’s Guide recorded more than 15 hours in its Wi-Fi web-surfing battery test with the display set to 150 nits. Separately, Samsung advertises up to 30 hours of video playback. These results describe different test types—one is an independent web-browsing test and the other a manufacturer video-playback estimate—so they should not be treated as competing measurements of the same workload. Which memory and storage configurations are available, and can they be upgraded?
Availability and upgrade details differ between regional product pages. Samsung Ireland lists configurations with 16 GB to 64 GB LPDDR5X memory and 512 GB to 2 TB PCIe SSD storage, plus an expansion slot. These are Ireland-market specifications, not a promise that every capacity is sold in every country. Samsung Ireland’s specification comparison
Samsung’s U.S. product page says memory cannot be upgraded after purchase and describes storage up to 1 TB on the configurations covered there, with an SD card expansion slot. The regional pages differ, so verify the exact local SKU and its expansion options rather than assuming the Ireland-market maximum applies in the United States or elsewhere. What should you check before choosing a configuration?
- Graphics: Confirm whether the listing specifies Intel Arc integrated graphics or an RTX 5060/5070. That difference is central for gaming and GPU-accelerated creative work.
- Processor pairing: Do not assume the highest-end CPU and an RTX GPU appear together in every market. Tom’s Guide’s tested RTX 5070 unit used a Core Ultra 7 356H; its review also described a lower-priced starting configuration with integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics and a Core Ultra X7 358H.
- Memory and storage: Verify installed capacity, whether memory is fixed, and the storage or card-expansion options stated for the precise regional model.
- Price: Tom’s Guide listed a review-time starting price of $2,899 and $3,799 for its tested configuration. Those are historical review prices, not verified current prices.
- Workload and ecosystem: Compare the applications, operating system and services you rely on. For a MacBook Pro comparison, match the chip and screen-size configurations and keep software, settings and test conditions equivalent.
What are the practical trade-offs?
Tom’s Guide praised the tested Ultra’s OLED display, battery-test result, speakers and gaming performance. The reviewer also criticized its shallow keyboard, substantial preinstalled Samsung app suite and high starting price at review time. These are the reviewer’s observations about the reviewed unit, not guarantees about every buyer’s experience or current retail pricing. Tom’s Guide
