In the UK launch-era prices cited here, the 256GB Xiaomi cost £120 more; that is not a live price comparison.

What the display specifications mean
The Galaxy A57 has the larger diagonal display at 6.7 inches, compared with 6.59 inches on the Xiaomi 17T. Xiaomi specifies a higher pixel resolution—1.5K, or 2756 × 1268—while Samsung lists FHD+. Both manufacturers specify refresh rates up to 120Hz. These figures describe screen size, resolution and maximum refresh rate; they do not establish which panel looks better in person.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Camera hardware: Xiaomi adds a periscope telephoto
The clearest hardware distinction is the third rear camera. Xiaomi lists a 50MP periscope telephoto lens equivalent to 115mm, with optical image stabilization (OIS). Samsung’s listed trio is a stabilized 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. Choose based on the kinds of framing you use: a dedicated telephoto is intended for distant subjects, while a macro camera is meant for close-up detail. The specifications alone do not show which phone takes better photos; that would require comparable camera testing.

Battery capacity and charging claims
Xiaomi lists a 6,500mAh typical silicon-carbon battery and 67W HyperCharge. Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery and says its Super Fast Charging 2.0 can reach up to 60% in around 30 minutes; Samsung sells the charger separately. Xiaomi says the power adapter is not included in the box. Capacity and charging ratings are manufacturer specifications, not a direct measure of real-world battery life or a head-to-head charge-time result.
Price difference: compare the same market and storage

| UK configuration | Published price | Source and timing |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A57, 256GB | £529 RRP | Samsung Newsroom UK; April 2026 availability announcement |
| Xiaomi 17T, 256GB | £649 | TechRadar; June 2, 2026 review |
| Xiaomi 17T, 512GB | £699 | TechRadar; June 2, 2026 review |
On those two UK 256GB launch-era prices, the Xiaomi was £120 more. The comparison is between Samsung’s stated RRP and TechRadar’s reported Xiaomi price, not a same-day retailer quote. Discounts, bundles, stock and configuration availability can change the gap. In the US, Samsung announced a $549.99 starting price for the A57, with availability beginning April 9, 2026; that US figure should not be compared directly with UK prices. Which phone should you choose?
Consider the Xiaomi 17T if
- You want the listed 50MP periscope telephoto camera rather than a macro lens.
- You prefer the higher-resolution 1.5K display and are comfortable with a slightly smaller screen diagonal.
- The 6,500mAh typical battery and 67W charging specifications matter to you, and your local offer makes the price worthwhile.
- You want 12GB of listed RAM and a 256GB or 512GB storage configuration where available.
Consider the Galaxy A57 if
- You want Samsung’s explicitly stated support commitment: up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security and maintenance releases.
- You prefer a larger 6.7-inch display, or a phone that is thinner and lighter according to the listed dimensions.
- You want the 5MP macro camera or the Samsung configuration and price offered in your market.
Neither spec sheet establishes an overall performance, photo-quality or battery-life winner. Xiaomi names the Dimensity 8500-Ultra, while the cited Samsung US launch table does not name its chip; without comparable independent testing, CPU descriptions do not settle which phone feels faster. Check your country’s exact configurations, retailer price and warranty before deciding.

Check regional compatibility and durability before buying
- Network and eSIM: Confirm the exact model’s supported bands and carrier compatibility in your country. Xiaomi notes that eSIM availability can vary by region and carrier.
- Storage: Do not assume every listed RAM and storage combination is sold in every market; verify the specific local SKU.
- Water resistance: Both phones list IP68, but this is a laboratory rating, not a promise that either phone is waterproof. Samsung describes testing in freshwater up to 1.5m for up to 30 minutes and says resistance may diminish with wear; it does not recommend beach or pool use. Xiaomi also cautions that real-world conditions exceed controlled laboratory tests and that resistance can degrade.
- In-box charger: Samsung says its charger is sold separately; Xiaomi says the power adapter is not included. Check the local package contents before purchase.
