The Galaxy A57 is the thinner, lighter choice with Samsung’s stated software-upgrade commitment; the Nothing Phone (4a) offers a sharper display and a dedicated 3.5× optical-zoom camera. Both have 120Hz AMOLED screens and similarly sized batteries. There is no reliable single price gap to quote: prices vary by country, storage configuration and whether you are looking at launch pricing or a current listing.

How the screens and designs differ
Both phones list AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates, but the Nothing’s screen is slightly larger and has the higher listed resolution. That may appeal if screen detail is a priority; the resolution figures alone do not establish how noticeable the difference will be in everyday use.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe A57 is 25.5g lighter and 1.7mm thinner according to the cited specifications. If you value a lighter, slimmer phone, that is a concrete advantage for Samsung. Nothing’s larger display comes in a thicker, heavier body.

Camera choice: optical zoom or a macro camera
The clearest camera distinction is the third rear camera. Nothing lists a 50MP periscope camera with 3.5× optical zoom, which is the more relevant setup for framing distant subjects without relying solely on digital enlargement. The A57’s listed rear cameras are a main, ultrawide and macro camera; its reviewed specification summary does not list a dedicated telephoto camera.
Megapixel counts do not predict overall image quality. In its review, TechRadar found the Nothing’s periscope useful at 3.5× but reported that some longer-distance results were unclear and that processing had limitations in certain conditions. Those are reviewer observations, not guaranteed results for every scene or user.

Performance, battery and software support
Performance
The phones use different processors: Exynos 1680 in the A57 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in the Phone (4a). The chip names do not establish which phone is faster in matched use. TechRadar’s A57 review describes everyday performance as adequate but not especially fast, based on its testing; there is no same-test comparison here that settles performance between the two.

Battery
The listed capacities are 5,000mAh for Samsung and 5,080mAh for Nothing, a difference too small to establish which phone lasts longer. Battery runtime depends on more than capacity, and no controlled, matched endurance comparison is available in these cited sources. Samsung lists 45W wired charging; the cited Phone (4a) comparison summary does not state a charging figure.

Software support
Samsung says the Galaxy A57 series will receive up to six generations of OS upgrades and long-term security support. That is Samsung’s stated commitment; the reviewed sources do not establish a corresponding official support duration for the Phone (4a), so a direct support-term comparison cannot be made from them.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A57 if a thinner, lighter body, Samsung’s ecosystem or Samsung’s stated OS-upgrade commitment matters most. Its listed camera set also includes a macro camera.
- Consider the Nothing Phone (4a) if you want a dedicated periscope camera with 3.5× optical zoom or prefer its larger, higher-resolution listed display.
- Decide on price only after checking local listings. The figures available are tied to different regions, configurations and price dates, so they do not support a universal winner on cost.
