The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G may still be worth buying if its local price is meaningfully below newer alternatives and its remaining software support, condition, and regional compatibility suit you. Its official specifications include a 120 Hz Super AMOLED display, a three-camera rear system, and a 5,000 mAh typical-capacity battery. But there is no verified current price or independent performance testing here, so there is no sound basis for calling it a bargain at any particular price.
What you get with the Galaxy A54 5G
Samsung’s listed specifications point to a phone built around a high-refresh display and a versatile-looking camera array. They describe hardware capabilities, not a guarantee of real-world image quality, gaming performance, or battery life.
| Feature | Samsung-listed specification | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.4-inch Super AMOLED, 1080 × 2340 resolution, up to 120 Hz | A high-refresh display is available; the maximum refresh rate does not mean every app or activity runs at 120 Hz. Samsung Gulf specifications |
| Rear cameras | 50 MP + 12 MP + 5 MP; optical image stabilization on the main camera | Megapixel counts and stabilization do not establish photo quality, especially in difficult light. Samsung South Africa product page |
| Video | Up to 4K at 30 frames per second | This is a listed capability, not an assessment of footage quality. Samsung Gulf specifications |
| Battery | 5,000 mAh typical capacity; non-removable | Capacity alone cannot predict how long a particular phone lasts between charges. Samsung also lists up to 21 hours of wireless video playback in this regional specification set; that is a manufacturer test claim, not a typical-use guarantee. Samsung Gulf specifications |
| Size and weight | 158.2 × 76.7 × 8.2 mm; 202 g | These figures apply to the model shown on Samsung’s regional page; check your exact variant before buying. Samsung South Africa product page |
How much software support remains?
Samsung announced four generations of Android OS updates and five years of security maintenance for the Galaxy A54 5G. That is the stated support policy, not a guarantee that every regional or carrier model receives each update on the same date. Since the phone is no longer a new release, judge it by the support time remaining for the exact device you would buy—not by the full original commitment.

These are variant-specific examples, not a schedule for every market. Samsung says update changes may differ by device model, country, and service provider. Check the notice for your specific model and region at Samsung’s Galaxy A54 5G update page. Samsung’s security update scope currently includes the A54 5G in its monthly-update list for enterprise models; that scope should not be treated as a universal consumer-region schedule.
#1 Best Overall
- Equipped with a 6.4″ Super AMOLED display that supports a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate and offers up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, the Galaxy A54 5G delivers vibrant visuals, rich contrast, and excellent readability even in bright outdoor conditions.
What the IP67 rating does—and does not—mean
Samsung describes the Galaxy A54 5G as IP67-rated, based on laboratory submersion in up to 1 meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Samsung advises against beach or pool use and warns that resistance may diminish over time. It is not accurate to call the phone waterproof. On a used or refurbished unit, unknown wear or repair history is a separate concern from the original rating. Samsung Philippines specifications and IP67 qualification.
How to decide whether the price is right
No current local selling price or condition-matched listing has been established here. The value question therefore depends on what the exact phone costs where you live and what you would buy instead. Compare a Galaxy A54 with at least one newer Samsung A-series model and one similarly priced alternative in the same market.
Rank #2
- GSM Unlocked: GSM unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, Metro, etc.)
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a charger and charging cable that may be generic.
- Display: 6.4" Screen, 104.9 cm2 (~80.2% screen-to-body ratio) 1080 x 2408 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~400 ppi density)
- Accelerometer, Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor
- Octa-core (2x2.6 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) Mali-G68 MC4 | 5,000mAh battery
- Price and condition: Compare new, refurbished, or used units like-for-like. Include storage capacity, warranty, return terms, and any visible or disclosed damage.
- Remaining support: Confirm the update status for the regional and carrier SKU, rather than assuming the launch-era policy describes the time left.
- Display and handling: Weigh the 6.4-inch screen and listed refresh rate against the alternative’s screen, dimensions, and weight.
- Camera needs: Treat the camera specifications as a starting point. Look for independent sample-based comparisons relevant to the kinds of photos and video you take.
- Battery life: Do not use capacity alone as an endurance comparison; look for independent testing of the models you are considering.
- Connectivity: Confirm the exact model’s local 4G/5G bands, SIM configuration, and carrier compatibility. Regional variants and storage options differ.
If a condition-matched A54 is substantially cheaper than current alternatives, and you accept its older hardware and shorter remaining support window, it may make sense. If it costs close to a newer supported phone, compare that newer option carefully before deciding. Those are decision rules, not verified price comparisons.

What to verify before you buy
- Identify the exact model or SKU, storage capacity, and regional variant in the listing or device settings.
- Check Samsung’s update notice for that model and region, and confirm current carrier compatibility and network bands with your carrier.
- Compare the asking price with current, condition-matched alternatives in your market; include warranty and return terms in the comparison.
- For a used or refurbished phone, assess its physical condition and repair history rather than relying on the original IP rating.
- Compare independent camera and battery testing for the specific phones on your shortlist; Samsung’s specification figures do not substitute for those measurements.
