The Galaxy A35, however, has an explicit IP67 rating and a specified ultrawide rear camera. At their respective Samsung India launch announcements, the M56 was INR 3,000 cheaper at each matching storage tier—but those dated, promotion-linked prices are not current quotes.

India launch prices and the difference
| Storage configuration | Galaxy A35 launch announcement | Galaxy M56 launch announcement | Difference at announcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8GB RAM + 128GB storage | INR 27,999, including specified INR 3,000 bank cashback | INR 24,999, with an INR 3,000 instant bank discount shown | M56 was INR 3,000 lower |
| 8GB RAM + 256GB storage | INR 30,999, including specified INR 3,000 bank cashback | INR 27,999, with an INR 3,000 instant bank discount shown | M56 was INR 3,000 lower |
Samsung India announced the A35 prices on 14 March 2024 and the M56 prices on 17 April 2025. The promotions were not described identically: the A35 figures included bank cashback on named cards, while the M56 announcement showed an instant bank discount. These are historical India launch-announcement prices, not a like-for-like current retail-price check. Current prices, stock and offers may differ by seller and date.
Where the M56 has the advantage
Lighter, thinner build
Samsung lists the M56 at 7.2 mm thick and 180 g, compared with the A35 at 8.2 mm and 209 g. That is a 1.0 mm thinner and 29 g lighter specification for the M56, while its listed height is nearly the same. These dimensions make the M56 the more compelling option if a lower-weight phone matters to you.

Newer announced chipset and faster charging
Samsung specifies an Exynos 1480 built on 4nm for the M56, alongside LPDDR5X memory and a vapor cooling chamber. The A35 uses an Exynos 1380 built on 5nm. This establishes a difference in published hardware, not the size of any real-world speed gain: no controlled benchmark comparison is established here.
The M56 also supports 45W charging on Samsung’s stated specifications, versus 25W for the A35. Samsung says the A35’s 25W wall charger is sold separately; the cited M56 material does not establish whether a charger is included, so check the specific box contents for the market and seller before buying.

Longer announced software support
Samsung’s 2025 M56 launch announcement promises six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. Its 2024 A35 announcement promises up to four generations of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates. These are announced support policies; they do not by themselves confirm how quickly or consistently updates will arrive in a particular region. The software version currently installed can also depend on update history and region.
Where the A35 may be the better fit
Explicit water- and dust-resistance rating
Samsung rates the A35 IP67 and describes resistance for up to 30 minutes in 1 metre of fresh water. It also specifies Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front and back. The cited M56 launch information does not establish an IP rating. That absence is not proof that the M56 lacks water or dust resistance; it means the cited announcement does not provide a comparable rating. If a formal rating is essential, verify it for the exact M56 model and market before relying on one.

Ultrawide camera specification
The A35’s rear-camera setup is specifically listed as a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. Samsung’s M56 launch announcement promotes a 50MP OIS triple rear camera, but the material cited here does not provide the other two rear-camera resolutions. Choose based on the framing and camera features you actually use rather than assuming that a higher megapixel count alone means better photos.
Camera features: compare use cases, not megapixels alone
The M56 announcement highlights a 12MP HDR front camera, 4K 30fps 10-bit HDR video recording, Portrait 2.0 with 2× rear zoom, and AI editing features. Samsung lists a 13MP front camera on the A35 and describes 4K stabilization and AI camera features; its product specifications list UHD 4K recording at 30fps. The A35’s stated rear-camera layout also gives it a defined ultrawide option.

Those published feature lists do not establish which phone takes better selfies, handles low light better, stabilizes video more effectively, or produces more pleasing colour. No controlled side-by-side camera test is established here, and megapixels alone cannot answer those questions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose between the Galaxy A35 and M56
- Pick the M56 if: its current price in your market is attractive, and you prioritize lower weight, a thinner body, the newer announced chipset, 45W charging, its advertised HDR video features or the longer announced update commitment.
- Pick the A35 if: an explicit IP67 rating is important, you want Samsung’s specified 8MP ultrawide and 5MP macro cameras, or the A35 is the better deal at the time you shop.
- Before ordering either: compare live prices for the same RAM and storage configuration in your country; confirm the model, colour, seller and stock; and check whether the charger is included. Launch prices from Samsung India are not a substitute for today’s local listing.
Neither phone is a universal winner on the published facts alone. The practical decision turns on current local pricing and whether you value the M56’s weight, charging and support advantages more than the A35’s explicitly rated IP67 protection and specified ultrawide camera.
