In an India marketplace snapshot taken in early October 2026, the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G was listed at ₹33,999 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G at ₹27,999 on Amazon India, a displayed gap of ₹6,000 in Samsung’s favour. The spec sheets diverge in the same way: Samsung’s India page lists a 5000mAh typical battery and a 200g weight, while Xiaomi’s pages list a much larger battery, though the figure differs between Xiaomi’s global and India pages. Neither phone can be called the better buy on specifications alone, because the price, memory configuration, battery figure and software-support wording all depend on which market and variant you are looking at.
Price difference: what the India snapshot shows
The only side-by-side price pair we can date comes from 91mobiles’ comparison page, which displayed both phones as sold on Amazon India. It is a third-party, marketplace-linked snapshot, not a manufacturer list price, and it may not reflect the current live offer.

Because the listing does not confirm the memory configuration, the ₹6,000 gap may not be a like-for-like comparison. Check the RAM and storage on each seller’s page before you treat the gap as real. Also check the seller, warranty terms and whether the price is still live, since marketplace prices move frequently. The price comparison is only meaningful for India; the article does not establish prices for other countries.

Battery: which figure applies to which phone
The battery is the largest number gap in the comparison, and it depends on the market. Xiaomi publishes two different figures for the same model, so a single-number comparison is not reliable until you pick a regional page.
Samsung Galaxy A27 5G
Samsung India lists a 5000mAh typical battery. The word “typical” means the rated capacity is an average figure from Samsung’s own specification, not a guaranteed minimum.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G, global page
Xiaomi Global lists 7700mAh. Xiaomi also states that the battery keeps at least 80% of its health after 1,600 charging cycles. That is Xiaomi’s own claim, based on its own testing, not an independent result.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G, India page
Xiaomi India lists 8000mAh typical. If you are buying in India, use this figure when comparing with the Samsung India page, and treat the global 7700mAh as a figure for a different market.
A larger rated capacity does not by itself mean longer real-world use. Battery life also depends on the processor, display, software and how the phone is used, and none of the sources here include an independent endurance test of either phone.
Charging and weight
Xiaomi lists 45W charging on both its global and India pages. Samsung’s 25W figure comes from the 91mobiles comparison; Samsung India’s page did not confirm it in the snapshot we reviewed, so verify the charging rate on Samsung’s current specifications before relying on it.

On weight, the Samsung phone is listed at 200g on Samsung India’s page and the Redmi at 225g on Xiaomi India’s page. A 25g difference is noticeable in the hand over a long day, though neither figure is a measurement from an independent test.

Software and security support
Samsung India says security updates are listed through 31 July 2032. Xiaomi Global says six years of security updates. These are different kinds of statement: Samsung gives an end date, while Xiaomi gives a length of time without a stated start date in the page we reviewed. The two cannot be ranked against each other without knowing when each support period begins. Compare the exact wording on each manufacturer’s current page before deciding, and note that the Redmi runs HyperOS 3 on the India page, while Samsung’s software version is not stated in the sources reviewed.
What is included in the box
Xiaomi India says the Redmi Note 17 5G package includes a power adapter, a case and a pre-applied screen protector. Xiaomi also notes that box contents can vary by region and packaging version. The sources reviewed do not list Samsung’s box contents for the Galaxy A27 5G, so do not assume a charger, case or screen protector is or is not included with the Samsung phone until you check the seller’s listing.

Network compatibility
Xiaomi India lists India-specific network bands for the Redmi. Samsung India’s page lists a hybrid SIM or microSD slot but the sources reviewed do not list its band support for India. Confirm both phones support your carrier’s 5G bands before buying, especially if you plan to import a variant from another market.
Launch status note
Samsung India gives a launch date of June 25, 2026 for the Galaxy A27 5G. The Redmi Note 17 5G’s status is less clear. PhoneArena’s comparison database lists it as “Not announced,” which conflicts with Xiaomi’s current product pages and with the 91mobiles comparison, which treats it as an available phone. This article relies on Xiaomi’s pages for the Redmi’s specifications, and it does not settle when the phone was first announced.

- If you are buying in India and the memory configuration matches, start with the price difference, then check the seller and warranty on each listing.
- If you care most about the rated battery size, compare the Redmi’s India figure (8000mAh) and not its global figure (7700mAh) against Samsung’s 5000mAh.
- If you want a longer and clearly dated security-update end point, Samsung’s 31 July 2032 statement is the more precise commitment, though Xiaomi’s six-year wording may be comparable in practice once you confirm its start date.
- If you want a faster charger in the box, the Redmi’s 45W charging is listed on both Xiaomi pages; the Samsung’s 25W figure needs checking on Samsung’s own specifications.
- If you want a lighter phone, the Samsung’s listed 200g weight is 25g below the Redmi’s 225g on Xiaomi India.
- If camera, display quality or real-world battery life matters most, look for independent reviews that test both phones under the same conditions. None of the sources here provide that comparison.
Before purchase, confirm the exact RAM and storage, network bands for your carrier, warranty, current seller price and included accessories on the listing you plan to buy.

The price gap and the battery figure are the two numbers most likely to change your decision, and they are also the two that change the most with market and listing. Check both on the day you buy.
