Which phone has the better display?
The Galaxy A17 5G is listed with a 1080 × 2340 Super AMOLED panel, while the Y31 5G has a 1608 × 720 LCD. Samsung therefore has the higher stated resolution and AMOLED panel type. vivo’s display is listed at up to 120 Hz, compared with 90 Hz for Samsung, so the vivo has the higher refresh-rate ceiling. Resolution and refresh rate describe different trade-offs; they do not by themselves establish overall image quality.
How do performance and storage compare?
The listed chipsets are Samsung’s Exynos 1330 and vivo’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. No comparable benchmark evidence is available here to establish a tested speed winner. Storage configurations may matter more at purchase: the comparison source lists Samsung options including 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB, while vivo India lists 4/128 GB and 6/128 GB. Check the exact variant offered by the retailer, since price comparisons may involve different memory configurations.

Battery, charging and cameras
vivo specifies a 6500 mAh typical battery and 44 W charging for its India Y31 5G. The comparison source lists a 5000 mAh battery for the Galaxy A17 5G. The larger stated capacity does not prove longer real-world battery life, which depends on use and other factors.
The camera specifications also differ: 91mobiles lists a 50 MP main, 5 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro rear-camera setup plus a 13 MP front camera for Samsung. vivo India lists 50 MP + 0.08 MP rear cameras and an 8 MP front camera. Megapixel counts and camera specifications alone cannot determine which phone takes better photos.

Make sure a listing says vivo Y31 5G, not the older vivo Y31 4G. The older model’s specifications are substantially different: vivo Global lists Snapdragon 662, 5000 mAh, 18 W charging and Funtouch OS 11 on its Y31 page. Those details do not describe the India Y31 5G. vivo also has a separate South Africa Y31 5G page; do not assume regional specifications or availability are identical.
