Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is the better-documented choice if you want a sharper AMOLED screen, optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main camera, and a stated long-term software update commitment. vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G has the stronger listed battery, charging speed, refresh rate, and ingress-protection rating. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from comparative hands-on tests.

Specifications are published by Samsung India and vivo India. They do not establish which phone performs better in a particular real-world workload, or which camera produces better-looking images.
Which phone has the better display?
The Galaxy A17 5G lists a Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel, while the T5 Lite lists a 1600 × 720 LCD. Samsung’s display has substantially more resolution on paper and uses AMOLED technology. vivo’s listed screen refreshes at up to 120Hz, compared with up to 90Hz for Samsung; a higher refresh rate can make supported motion appear smoother, but does not make the panel higher-resolution.

Battery and charging: vivo leads on listed figures
vivo specifies a 6,500mAh battery and 44W charging with its official standard charger. Samsung lists a 5,000mAh battery and 25W wired charging. Those capacity and wattage figures make the vivo the stronger specification choice for buyers prioritizing a larger battery or faster rated charging. They do not prove longer battery life or a particular charge time: no comparative battery or charging test is established here.
Camera comparison: stabilization versus listed megapixels
Samsung lists OIS on the Galaxy A17’s 50MP main camera and includes a 5MP ultra-wide camera alongside a macro lens. vivo lists a 50MP main camera and a 0.08MP secondary rear camera. OIS is a useful hardware distinction because it stabilizes the main camera, but the specifications alone do not show which phone takes better photos or video.

The front-camera figures are 13MP for Samsung and 5MP for vivo. Megapixels describe resolution, not overall image quality, so they should not be treated as a photo-quality verdict.
Durability and software support
vivo publishes an IP65 rating, compared with IP54 for Samsung. Samsung separately lists Gorilla Glass Victus on the front. Neither IP rating means a phone is waterproof; do not treat either as permission to submerge a device.

Samsung’s 2025 India launch announcement says the Galaxy A17 5G receives six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. The vivo product specification page lists Android 16 and Origin OS 6.0 but does not give a comparable support-duration commitment. That makes Samsung’s documented long-term promise clearer in these sources; the omission on vivo’s page is not proof that vivo has no other support policy.

These are launch list prices, not verified live checkout prices. Samsung announced its prices in 2025; vivo announced its prices in 2026. The vivo announcement also described a ₹1,500 card discount and three-month no-cost EMI for July 22, 2026, with effective prices that day of ₹18,499, ₹20,499, and ₹23,499 respectively. That was a date-limited offer, not a current-price claim. Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A17 5G if you prioritize a higher-resolution AMOLED display, a stabilized main camera, lower listed weight, or Samsung’s explicitly stated update commitment.
- Choose the vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G if the larger listed battery, higher charging wattage, 120Hz refresh rate, or IP65 rating matters more to you.
- Compare the exact variant, not just the phone name. RAM differs between the listed launch-price tiers, and each manufacturer lists microSD expansion up to 2TB. Check the slot arrangement and regional SKU before buying.
