The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G’s original $199.99 price made its AMOLED screen, 5G and large battery notable for a budget phone. That was launch-era pricing, not a confirmed October 2026 deal. Its screen and practical extras remain appealing, but reviewers found the US 4GB model slow when opening apps and switching between them. Consider it only if a current, condition-matched listing makes sense for your budget and you value those strengths more than speed.
What the Galaxy A15 5G offers
Samsung’s US specification sheet lists a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery, wired charging up to 25W and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The rear cameras are a 50MP main camera, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro; the front camera is 13MP. Samsung listed Android 14 at publication. Android Authority identifies the processor as MediaTek’s Dimensity 6100 Plus.
These are US-model specifications, not a guarantee for every A15 5G sold worldwide. RAM, storage, SIM and radio configurations can differ by region, so check the precise model number and listing before buying. Samsung’s US specification sheet and Android Authority’s review are useful references.
How well does it perform?
Performance is the main compromise in the US 4GB configuration. Android Central’s reviewer, who used an AT&T review unit for about two weeks, reported slow app loading, delays after unlocking and frequent app reloads when multitasking. Android Authority’s reviewer tested a unit purchased by the outlet for three weeks and likewise characterized it as no powerhouse. Those are reviewers’ observations, not a guarantee that every user will experience identical results, but they point to a phone better suited to basic tasks than demanding games or busy app-switching.

A current Android Central buyer guide still flags routine-use lag and the base model’s 4GB of RAM, while also listing the newer Galaxy A17 in Samsung’s budget range. Compare the actual models and configurations available to you rather than assuming the older A15 is automatically the better bargain. Android Central’s review and its Galaxy A-series buyer guide provide further context.
Is the screen good for the price?
Reviewers identify the display as a strength. It is a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel, and independent reviews specify a 90Hz refresh rate. That combination makes the A15’s screen a strong part of its budget-phone appeal. The trade-offs are visible bezels and a dated waterdrop-style notch; the panel’s quality does not make the overall design feel modern.

How long does the battery last?
The battery is rated at 5,000mAh. Android Central reported getting a full day in its review, and Android Authority also described battery life favorably. Actual endurance depends on network conditions, brightness, apps and use, so treat those reports as review findings rather than a promise for every owner.

Samsung specifies wired charging up to 25W. Android Authority reports that wireless charging is not supported. The cited sources do not establish whether every regional retail box includes a power adapter, so check the package details for the exact SKU rather than assuming one is included.

- GSM Unlocked (original carrier is AT&T)
What cameras and practical extras does it have?
The rear camera array pairs a 50MP main camera with a 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro camera; the selfie camera is 13MP. Android Central’s reviewer praised the camera relative to the price, and its later buyer guide notes daylight strengths. That is not evidence of equivalent results in low light or video, so buyers who care about those uses should look for comparisons of the specific alternatives they are considering.
The phone weighs 200g and includes a 3.5mm audio jack. Reviews report a microSD card slot with expansion up to 1TB; confirm compatibility and the limit for your regional model before purchasing a card. The cited reviews also report no IP rating. That means the sources do not establish a rated level of water or dust protection; avoid treating the phone as waterproof.

Software updates: check the exact model
Samsung’s update record for model SM-A1560 lists Android 16, released 2026-08-10, and a security patch level of 2026-07-05. This is a record for that specific model, not proof that every A15 5G in every country or on every carrier received the same update. Samsung notes that changes can vary by model, country and service provider. Check the update page for your exact model and carrier before relying on that status: Samsung’s SM-A1560 update record.
Is the Galaxy A15 5G still worth buying?
The A15 5G is most compelling when its current price is low enough to justify a phone whose standout qualities are its AMOLED display, large battery, headphone jack and expandable storage. It is a less suitable choice if you expect consistently responsive multitasking, play demanding games, or need water protection or wireless charging.

The $199.99 figure cited by Android Authority and the $200 launch retail price reported by Android Central describe its original US positioning, not a verified October 2026 unlocked offer. Android Central’s 2026 guide says it can be found under $199 on Amazon, but does not establish a specific live listing, condition or stock status. Before buying, compare current listings on equal terms:
- Out-the-door price, phone condition and whether it is carrier-locked.
- Exact RAM and storage configuration, plus processor responsiveness.
- Display type, refresh rate and brightness.
- Battery capacity and charging support.
- Software-update status for the exact model and region.
- Camera performance for the situations you care about, including low light and video.
- Storage expansion and microSD availability.
For a newer Samsung option, the 2026 Android Central guide identifies the Galaxy A17 in the budget lineup. Its presence is a reason to compare current prices and specifications, not proof that it is the better deal in every market. Android Authority’s review discusses the A15’s launch-era positioning; use current listings to judge today’s value.
