For Samsung’s current US Galaxy A lineup, the A17 5G is the lowest-cost option, the A27 5G adds a 120Hz screen and more RAM, and the A37 5G and A57 5G step up to faster wired charging and higher-spec camera configurations. Samsung lists starting prices of $249.99, $349.99, $449.99, and $549.99 before eligible trade-in, respectively. The right choice depends on your budget, storage needs, and which specification differences matter to you—not on the “performance and affordability” label alone.
The comparison below covers Samsung’s 2026 US models and published specifications. Prices and availability can change, and the specifications do not establish real-world speed, battery life, or photo quality.
Which Samsung Galaxy A series phone should you buy?
Choose by the feature that will make the biggest difference in your day-to-day use:
- Choose the A17 5G if you want the lowest listed starting price, plan to use a microSD card, and are comfortable with a 90Hz display, 4GB of RAM, and 25W wired charging.
- Choose the A27 5G if you want a 120Hz display and 4K video recording while keeping microSD expansion. It has 6GB of RAM and 25W wired charging.
- Choose the A37 5G if you want a 120Hz display, 45W wired charging, and a higher-spec ultrawide camera than the A17 or A27, and you do not need a memory card slot.
- Choose the A57 5G if you want the lineup’s highest listed RAM, the largest listed ultrawide camera resolution, and 45W wired charging. It costs the most and does not support external memory cards.
All four have a listed 50MP main rear camera, 5,000mAh battery, and 6.7-inch FHD+ display. Those shared headline specifications do not mean the phones perform identically: their memory, refresh rates, charging, camera systems, video recording, and storage options differ.

What changes as you move up the lineup?
A17 5G: the lowest listed entry price
The A17 is the least expensive of these four at Samsung’s listed US starting price. Its 4GB of RAM and 90Hz display are the lowest figures in this comparison, but it has 128GB of internal storage and supports a memory card up to 2TB. Its rear camera setup combines a 50MP main camera with 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro cameras. Samsung lists FHD video recording at 30 frames per second.

This is the clearest fit for buyers prioritizing price and expandable storage. Consider whether the lower refresh rate, memory amount, and video specification suit your intended use before choosing it over the A27.
A27 5G: 120Hz and 4K video with microSD support
The A27 adds a 120Hz display and 6GB of RAM while retaining a microSD slot for cards up to 2TB. Samsung lists the same 50MP main, 5MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro camera resolutions as the A17, but the A27 supports UHD 4K video at 30 frames per second. Wired charging is listed at up to 25W.
Samsung’s A27 product page says the phone receives up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates. “Up to” is important: this is a support commitment, not a statement that every future update arrives on a particular date.

A37 5G: faster listed charging and a stronger secondary camera setup
The A37 moves to up to 45W wired charging and a 120Hz display. Its camera specifications are a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro, with 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. It is listed with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, but it does not accept external memory cards.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf you are considering this model, confirm the RAM and storage of the specific configuration on offer. The specification sheet does not show that the camera will necessarily produce better photos in every situation than the lower-priced models.
A57 5G: the highest listed tier
The A57 has 8GB of RAM, a 120Hz display, and up to 45W wired charging. Its camera specifications include a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro, with 4K video at 30 frames per second. Samsung lists 128GB and 256GB storage configurations; neither supports external memory cards.

Its higher price buys the strongest listed configuration among these four on several spec-sheet measures, but the published specifications alone cannot establish how much faster it feels in everyday use or how its images compare in practice.
How to decide whether the price step is worthwhile
Samsung’s listed starting prices rise by $100 from one model to the next. That makes it useful to compare each step against a specific need rather than assume that a more expensive phone is automatically better value.
- Check the actual configuration: A37 storage and RAM vary by configuration, and A37/A57 offer up to 256GB internally. A17/A27 list 128GB but allow memory-card expansion.
- Value screen smoothness: The A17 is 90Hz; A27, A37, and A57 are 120Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and motion look smoother, but this specification is not a benchmark of overall phone speed.
- Consider charging habits: A17 and A27 are rated for up to 25W wired charging; A37 and A57 for up to 45W. These are maximum supported rates, not a promise of a particular charge time. Samsung’s comparison lists no wireless charging.
- Do not shop by megapixels alone: Each phone has a 50MP main rear camera, but the ultrawide and macro specifications and video capabilities vary. Megapixel counts do not measure image processing, low-light results, or overall photo quality.
- Check the final price: Samsung’s listed starting prices are before eligible trade-in. Offers and trade-in eligibility can alter the amount you pay, so compare the checkout price for the exact model and configuration.
What the published specifications do—and do not—tell you
Samsung’s US comparison is useful for identifying differences in display, memory, charging, cameras, and storage. It is not an independent performance or value test. The available product information does not establish comparative benchmark scores, independently measured battery runtime, or evidence that one model is better value than phones from other manufacturers.

The 5,000mAh figure is battery capacity, not a measured number of hours between charges. Likewise, a 50MP main camera or a 120Hz screen is a specification, not a guarantee of a particular user experience. Samsung’s March 25, 2026 announcement describes the A37 and A57 as part of its effort to broaden access to AI features; that is Samsung’s product positioning, not independent evidence of user outcomes. Read the Samsung Newsroom launch announcement for that statement.
Are Samsung Galaxy A series phones worth it?
The four phones offer a clear range of Samsung-listed prices and specifications, including 5,000mAh batteries and 50MP main rear cameras across the lineup. Whether one is worth buying depends on the configuration’s live price and the features you will actually use. For a tighter budget or expandable storage, look at the A17 or A27; for 45W wired charging and no memory-card requirement, compare the A37 and A57. The specifications support that distinction, but they do not prove value against competing phones.
