Samsung’s October 2026 security maintenance release is labeled SMR Oct-2026 Release 1. The bulletin says it includes Google Android security patches and Samsung fixes, including 27 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. It does not explain or verify the “up to 83 fixes” figure, so that number should not be treated as Samsung’s confirmed total.
What Samsung’s October 2026 security patch includes
Samsung’s October mobile security bulletin, published October 6, 2026, describes the monthly release as a combination of Google and Samsung patches. Samsung says its Samsung Security Index (SSI) reflects patches from both companies.
The bulletin lists Google Android Security Bulletin patches by severity, four high-severity Samsung Semiconductor CVEs, and 27 Samsung SVE items. Samsung cautions that some SVE items may already have been included in an earlier maintenance release, so the 27-item figure is not necessarily a count of newly delivered fixes for every device.
What the listed vulnerabilities mean
Samsung’s examples include out-of-bounds writes, use-after-free errors, improper input validation, access-control problems, and privilege-management issues. Some high-severity entries affect media parsing and system services; the bulletin says certain issues could allow local attackers to execute arbitrary code or access data. Do not read that description as evidence of remote exploitability: the bulletin does not say that all listed flaws can be exploited remotely.

Why “up to 83 fixes” is not a confirmed total
The official bulletin separates Google patches, Samsung Semiconductor CVEs, and Samsung SVE items, and it notes that applicability and prior maintenance releases can affect what a device receives. It does not provide a counting method or reconcile those categories into 83 fixes. The official materials therefore support the specific counts they state—27 SVE items and four Semiconductor CVEs—but not an independently verified aggregate of 83.

Samsung Internet and Smart Switch also have October fixes
Samsung’s October software-update bulletin covers apps and services as well as the mobile security release. It lists an improper-input-validation issue for Samsung Internet, resolved in version 30.0.5.24; the entry says user interaction is required to trigger the vulnerability. Smart Switch version 3.7.73 resolves a listed improper-authorization issue involving physical attackers installing arbitrary applications.
The same bulletin also has entries for Samsung Account, Samsung Checkout, Samsung Flow, and Samsung Continuity Service for Windows. The listed app or service fixes are not a guarantee that every Galaxy device receives an identical package at the same time.

When will the October patch reach your Galaxy?
Samsung does not give a complete model-by-model rollout schedule in the bulletin. It says release timing may vary according to device version, model, and service version. The bulletin establishes the contents of the release, not that it is available immediately on every Samsung device.
To check your phone’s status, open Settings > Software update > Download and install. If an update is available for your device, follow the on-screen prompts. If none appears, the bulletin alone cannot establish whether your specific model or service version is scheduled to receive it or when.

How to check which security patch is installed
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone, then Software information.
- Find Android security patch level to see the patch date currently installed.
That date identifies the security patch level on your device; it does not by itself confirm that every app-specific fix listed in Samsung’s service bulletin is installed. Check the relevant app version in its settings or app information if you are verifying Samsung Internet or Smart Switch.
