On a supported Galaxy, open Phone > More options (three dots) > Settings > Record calls. To record a single call, use More options > Record call while the call is active. The feature is not available on every Galaxy or in every country, and menu labels can vary by device and software.
Record one call while you’re on the phone
- Start or answer the call in Samsung’s Phone app.
- During the call, tap More options (three dots) and choose Record call. On some supported newer devices, the Record icon may appear directly in the call controls or under More.
- To stop, use the on-screen recording control or end the call. Samsung says participants receive an audio notice when recording starts and stops.
There is an exception for group calls: Samsung says a participant added after recording has begun may not receive the notice. Tell anyone you add yourself. Check applicable law and inform the other person when required; recording-consent rules depend on where you are.
Set calls to record automatically
- Open the Samsung Phone app and tap More options.
- Go to Settings > Record calls > Auto record calls.
- Turn on the setting, review and confirm the terms shown, then choose All calls, Unsaved numbers, or Specific numbers.
Automatic recording is useful when you want the same rule applied to repeated calls; manual recording lets you start recording only for a particular conversation. Both options depend on the feature being available on your device and in your market.
Find and manage saved recordings
In the Phone app, go to More options > Settings > Record calls > Recorded calls. Samsung also documents access through Voice Recorder and My Files on supported devices. From the recording list, you can play, share, or delete a file; other access paths and available actions vary by model, software, and installed apps.

Samsung Canada says recordings made with the default Samsung Phone app support two-way audio. Third-party call-recording apps can use different methods, and some may not capture the other caller’s voice, so don’t assume an app will work without checking its compatibility with your phone and calling setup.
Check whether your Galaxy supports call recording
Samsung’s US support guide identifies the built-in feature in the Samsung Phone dialer on select Galaxy phones updated to One UI 7.0 or later. That is not a guarantee for every phone on that version: Samsung also warns that availability depends on country, model, and software. Its regional support information does not provide a complete worldwide compatibility list.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

- Open Phone > More options > Settings and look for Record calls. If the setting and in-call recording control are absent, the feature may not be enabled for your model or regional software.
- Check Samsung’s support information for your country and exact model. A software-version requirement alone does not establish eligibility.
- Samsung India’s guide says call recording does not work during Wi-Fi calling.
Samsung’s regional instructions are not interchangeable with legal advice for your location. Availability and menu wording can also differ between markets and software versions.
What to know about transcripts and summaries
Transcript assist is an optional feature for supported devices and markets, not a standard part of every call recording. Samsung’s US instructions describe model and language limits, so confirm that your device and preferred language are supported before relying on transcription or summaries.
