There is no safe, universal battery-removal procedure for “a Samsung.” First identify the exact model code and country, then use the matching Samsung repair guide—or arrange service if no supported self-repair guide exists. If the battery is swollen or the back cover is lifting, do not try to remove it yourself.
Start with the exact model and country
Samsung battery-removal instructions depend on the device. A guide for one Galaxy phone may not apply to another, even within the same product family, and Samsung says self-repair availability can vary by device and country.
Find the phone’s model code in Settings, on its box, or on the product information label. Search for that exact code on Samsung’s self-repair support page or your local Samsung support site. Use a guide only if it matches your model and market; do not open the phone using instructions for a different device.
Choose between service and supported self-repair

Samsung’s Korean integrated-battery advice reflects its service context in Korea; service options and self-repair eligibility differ by market. Check local support for available service and current costs rather than assuming the same route is offered everywhere.

Why an integrated battery is not a routine removal
On phones with an integrated battery, access involves disassembling the device and using suitable tools. Samsung’s general guidance for these phones recommends a service center because opening the device can cause damage or safety risks. A model-specific manual may be even more restrictive: Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ manual says, “To replace the battery, contact an authorized service centre,” and “For your safety, you must not attempt to remove the battery.” Those statements apply to the S9+ manual, not automatically to every Samsung model. Follow only the instructions for your model
Official repair guides can include safety steps that differ by device. For example, Samsung’s Galaxy A55 guide for model SM-A556B, revision 1.0 dated 2024-03-27, instructs technicians to fully discharge the battery before repair and disconnect its battery connector first for safety. Before starting any supported self-repair, confirm that the guide’s model code matches yours and read it in full. Use only the tools and preparation it specifies, and complete its post-repair checks. If the guide is unavailable, unclear, or beyond your experience, stop and arrange service rather than improvising.

Do not attempt to remove or replace a swollen battery yourself. Samsung warns that swelling may visibly separate the rear cover and advises contacting Samsung or arranging authorized service. Treat a lifted cover as a reason to stop, not as a way to gain access to the battery. Samsung UK self-repair guidance.

Samsung’s self-repair program covers selected devices, with model availability varying by country; its support page provides guides and parts for eligible products.
