Sam’s Club curbside pickup is usually the lowest-cost choice if you can get to a participating club and your items are eligible: Sam’s Club lists pickup as free, with no order minimum. Delivery is more convenient when you want groceries brought to your address; standard delivery can be free for eligible Plus orders of $50 or more before tax, while other orders and faster delivery options carry fees.

When pickup is the better choice
Choose curbside pickup when keeping service charges at zero matters most and you can reach a participating club. It is also a straightforward option for bulky orders if your vehicle has room and the items are pickup-eligible. Sam’s Club lists pickup as free with no minimum, subject to participating-location and item eligibility rules.
Pickup still involves travel, loading space, and choosing from the slots shown for your club. If your schedule is tight, check the available time before building the rest of your plan around it. Pickup orders may be edited only until the applicable cutoff.

When delivery is worth the fee
Delivery makes sense if avoiding the drive, loading, or carrying is worth the applicable charge—or if your Plus order qualifies for free standard delivery. Per Sam’s Club’s Delivery From Club FAQ, Plus members pay no standard delivery fee on eligible orders totaling at least $50 before tax; eligible orders below that threshold cost $8. Club members pay $12 per standard delivery order.

Check the cart’s delivery quote rather than assuming every item qualifies or every address is served. The shop-options page lists examples of excluded items, including gift cards, tires, flowers, prescriptions, Café items, mobile phones, alcohol, and tobacco. The list is not exhaustive. Delivery is not available in Puerto Rico, according to that page.

How to choose for your next order
- Check item and location eligibility. Add the items you need, then see whether pickup or delivery is offered for your club and address.
- Compare the available time windows. Choose a slot that actually works; same-day service and fast delivery are conditional, not guaranteed.
- Compare the checkout totals. For delivery, check the standard fee and whether a faster option adds a charge. For pickup, account for the trip and whether your vehicle can carry the order.
- Choose based on the real trade-off. Pickup favors minimizing service fees; delivery favors avoiding the trip and carrying. If considering a Plus upgrade mainly for delivery, weigh expected savings against your actual order frequency and the membership’s other benefits. The right calculation depends on your usage and current membership terms.
