Salesforce and Zendesk are not equivalent long-term sales CRM choices in 2026. Salesforce offers an active lineup of sales CRM plans. Zendesk is focused on customer service, and it has announced that Zendesk Sell and its mobile app will retire on August 31, 2027. For a new sales CRM, compare Salesforce with other active sales CRM products rather than treating Sell as a durable alternative. If your main need is support ticketing, Zendesk’s service platform is the more relevant product to evaluate; teams needing both sales and service may connect Zendesk with Salesforce.

Salesforce vs. Zendesk: what is being compared?

The title can mean two different comparisons: Salesforce Sales Cloud and Zendesk Sell as sales CRMs, or Salesforce’s customer platform and Zendesk’s customer service platform. The first comparison has a lifecycle problem: Zendesk says Sell will retire on August 31, 2027. The second is a comparison of different primary jobs—sales management versus service and support—so it should be judged by workflow fit, not by a single winner.

Salesforce publishes sales CRM plans with different feature scopes, billing terms, and add-ons. Zendesk’s current strategic focus is customer service. Zendesk’s own 2026 comparison page characterizes Zendesk as service-focused and Salesforce as suited to deeper customization and Customer 360 use cases; those are vendor-authored positioning claims, not independent findings. Zendesk’s 2026 comparison guide also makes claims about time-to-value and total cost of ownership, for which no independent apples-to-apples evidence is established here.

Which product fits your team?

Situation Practical direction
You need an ongoing sales CRM for pipeline management and sales workflows. Evaluate Salesforce’s active plans against your required sales capabilities, customization, automation, and implementation capacity. Do not select Zendesk Sell as a long-term new-buyer option given its announced retirement.
Your central need is customer support and service workflows. Evaluate Zendesk’s customer service platform against your ticketing and service requirements. It is not the same product category as a sales CRM.
You already use Zendesk Sell. Plan an export and migration before August 31, 2027, and verify which records and history you can move.
You need sales and support teams to share customer context. Consider Salesforce and Zendesk together. Zendesk documents an integration, but data sharing requires setup and appropriate permissions.

How much does Salesforce cost in 2026?

Salesforce’s official US Sales pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists the following starting prices in USD per user per month. These are published plan prices, not a like-for-like total-cost comparison; billing terms and included capabilities vary by tier, and Salesforce says pricing and product information may change. Confirm current terms with Salesforce before buying. Salesforce Sales pricing

Salesforce plan Published starting price (US) What to check
Starter Suite $25 per user per month Plan-specific capabilities and transaction fees; do not assume it includes every feature a sales team may need.
Pro Suite $100 per user per month Annual billing and contract requirements apply as described on Salesforce’s pricing pages.
Core $195 per user per month Verify the billing basis and included features for your contract.
Advanced $395 per user per month Check which automation, forecasting, customization, security, and AI capabilities are included versus add-ons.
Max $550 per user per month Confirm plan scope, billing terms, and any additional products or implementation costs.

The separate Salesforce CRM pricing page lists Starter Suite at $25 and Pro Suite at $100 USD per user per month, with transaction fees noted for Starter and annual billing plus contract requirements for Pro. These suite prices should not be conflated with different Sales Cloud editions or bundles. Salesforce CRM pricing plans

Starter Suite and Pro Suite include sales-oriented capabilities, while higher tiers and add-ons can provide expanded automation, forecasting, customization, security, AI, and related products. Start with the workflows and controls you need, then price the corresponding plan, add-ons, implementation, and integrations. A low entry price alone does not establish the configured cost of a working CRM.

Is Zendesk Sell still available?

Zendesk announced on September 9, 2025, that Zendesk Sell and its mobile app are scheduled to retire on August 31, 2027. Zendesk says existing customers retain full access until that date and recommends evaluating sales CRM alternatives. This makes Sell a transition-sensitive product for current customers, not a sound assumption for a new long-term CRM deployment. Zendesk’s Sell retirement announcement, edited June 19, 2026.

What happens to Zendesk Sell data?

Zendesk says Sell data will be deleted under its service data deletion policy when a subscription ends or beginning August 31, 2027, whichever comes first. Its described export is delivered through a secure email link, and the export remains accessible in the Export panel for 30 days after creation. Do not treat the export as a complete migration without checking the records, fields, and attachments your business relies on.

Data Zendesk says can be exported

  • Leads, contacts, and deals
  • Notes and tasks
  • Smart lists and full account data
  • The total sales report

Items the described export does not include

  • Activity history and appointments
  • Emails and call logs
  • Documents

Zendesk notes that some system fields are available only through smart list export. Before choosing a destination CRM, inventory historical activity and attachments separately, confirm field mapping and permissions with the vendors, and plan the cutover so that sales staff can access the records they need.

Zendesk names Pipedrive as a transition partner and says it has migration tools. That is Zendesk’s stated transition route, not an independent endorsement or assurance that every customer’s fields, history, attachments, and integrations will migrate as needed. Validate the proposed mapping and migration scope directly with the vendors.

Can Salesforce integrate with Zendesk?

Yes. Zendesk documents an integration that can share data between a Salesforce organization and a Zendesk instance, including accounts, contacts, cases, and ticket data. The intended benefit is to let sales and support teams access relevant customer and ticket information across the two applications. Zendesk’s Salesforce integration documentation, edited August 20, 2026.

This is a configured integration, not an automatically unified CRM. Setup, permissions, and session settings affect what is available and how data is shared. Before relying on it, decide which records each team needs, who can access them, and how the integration fits your security and data-management policies.

How to compare the real cost and fit

There is no established independent, apples-to-apples benchmark here for implementation time, total cost of ownership, productivity, or conversion outcomes. Published list prices and documented product capabilities can help narrow options, but they do not show what either deployment will cost or deliver in your organization.

  • Sales requirements: Map pipeline stages, forecasting, reporting, and sales-team workflows to the features in the specific Salesforce plan you are considering.
  • Customization and automation: Identify which rules, integrations, and approvals you need; check whether they are included or require a higher tier or add-on.
  • Support requirements: If ticket handling and service workflows are the main need, assess Zendesk’s service offering rather than using Sell as a proxy for Zendesk today.
  • Shared customer context: If you choose both platforms, include integration setup, permissions, and ongoing administration in the deployment plan.
  • Migration exposure: Existing Sell customers should account for the announced retirement date, export limits, and data that may need a separate migration path.
  • Total deployment cost: Include licenses, required add-ons, implementation, integrations, and the work needed to maintain the system—not only the displayed per-user price.
