Yes, you can use some Sage products in the cloud, but “Sage cloud hosting” describes several different arrangements—not one service that turns every Sage program into a cloud app. Sage Intacct is cloud-native finance software; Sage Partner Cloud moves certain existing ERP products to an accredited hosting platform; and products such as Sage BusinessWorks and Sage Fixed Assets have their own hosting limitations and options. Start by confirming the exact product, edition, version, and country, then compare who manages migration, security, backups, connectivity, and recovery.

What does Sage cloud hosting mean?

It can mean either using a cloud-native Sage application or running an existing Sage installation on infrastructure hosted by Sage’s partner or another provider. Those models differ in how software is delivered, who operates the environment, and what must be confirmed before a move.

  • Cloud-native software: Sage describes Sage Intacct as cloud-native finance software that can integrate with existing tools. Moving to it is a product and workflow decision, not simply relocating an existing installation.
  • Hosted existing software: A hosting provider runs a supported Sage product in a hosted environment. Sage Partner Cloud is one route for selected ERP products through accredited hosting platforms and certified partners.
  • Product-specific hosting: Some Sage products have separate options or constraints. For example, Sage Fixed Assets may remain on premises or be hosted by a provider of choice, while Sage BusinessWorks can be installed on a cloud server but does not have a cloud version.

Sage’s overview of its cloud offerings distinguishes cloud-native software from hosted deployments: Sage cloud solutions.

Which Sage products can be hosted?

Sage 100, Sage 300, and Sage X3

Sage’s US Partner Cloud page lists Sage 100, Sage 300, and Sage X3 for cloud deployment through the program. Sage’s broader cloud page specifically discusses current Sage 100 and Sage 300 customers moving to an accredited hosting platform. That difference is a reason to verify current product, version, and regional eligibility directly with Sage or a certified partner rather than assuming every product in the broader list is available in every market.

With a partner-hosted ERP deployment, ask whether your exact version, customizations, integrations, reports, and connected applications are supported. Sage describes certified partners as helping customers choose and migrate; the partner’s actual scope should be spelled out in the proposal. See Sage Partner Cloud.

Sage Intacct

Sage presents Intacct as cloud-native finance software. Consider it when evaluating a change in software as well as a change in infrastructure. Map the workflows, integrations, reporting, and data that must carry over, and establish what implementation and ongoing service are included. Hosting an existing ERP and adopting a cloud-native product are not interchangeable migration plans.

Sage BusinessWorks

Sage’s US support guidance says BusinessWorks has no cloud version, but it can be installed on a cloud server. For remote users connecting through Remote Desktop, Sage specifies Client Server Edition. The cloud host—not Sage—manages server connectivity, and Sage says it does not troubleshoot cloud-connectivity issues. Confirm the required edition, remote-access design, number of users, and which party handles connection setup and maintenance before signing.

Details are in Sage’s BusinessWorks cloud-server guidance.

Sage Fixed Assets

Sage says Fixed Assets can remain on premises or be hosted by a provider of your choice. Sage identifies WebHouse as one hosting option using AWS and Cisco technology, including multifactor authentication through Cisco Duo. Treat that as a product-specific example, not evidence that the same setup or controls apply to other Sage products. Check edition compatibility, who administers the environment, the scope of MFA and encryption, backups, service levels, and migration and exit terms. See Sage Fixed Assets hosting.

How to compare a Sage hosting provider

A hosted Sage deployment can shift infrastructure tasks to a provider, but it does not remove the need to define responsibilities and recovery expectations. Compare proposals against the same questions:

  • Product fit: Is your exact Sage product, edition, version, user count, and region supported? Are customizations, integrations, peripherals, and reporting tools included in the compatibility assessment?
  • Hosting model and data location: Is this a cloud-native subscription, partner-hosted installation, or a cloud-server installation? Which provider operates the infrastructure, and in what country or region will data reside?
  • Migration scope: Who inventories and transfers data, configures the environment, tests integrations, trains users, and coordinates the cutover? What downtime is expected, and what is the rollback plan if validation fails?
  • Security responsibilities: Which party manages identity and access, MFA, patching, endpoint security, server administration, and network connectivity? How are incidents reported and escalated?
  • Backups and recovery: How frequently are backups taken, how long are they retained, and how often are restores tested? What recovery time objective (RTO) and recovery point objective (RPO) are contractually committed?
  • Support and contract: Who handles Sage application issues versus infrastructure and connectivity issues? Review service hours, response commitments, included services, total recurring and implementation costs, renewal terms, data export, and exit assistance.

Request written answers in the service proposal or contract. A general assurance that a platform is “resilient” does not tell you how quickly service will be restored or how much data could be lost after an incident.

What Sage says about cloud security and continuity

Sage describes security measures for its cloud services that include 24/7 monitoring by a dedicated cyber defense operations team, hosting on Azure and AWS, patch and update transparency, high availability, encryption, denial-of-service protection, threat monitoring, regular penetration testing, secure backups, and disaster recovery. These are Sage’s descriptions of its cloud services; they do not establish that every hosted configuration receives identical controls or that a particular customer has a specific contractual uptime or recovery target. The applicable protections depend on the product, provider, region, contract, and customer configuration. See Sage’s cloud security information.

Ask the provider to identify the controls that apply to your environment and who operates each one. In particular, establish how customer accounts and endpoints are protected, how cloud connectivity is maintained, how backup restoration is tested, what recovery targets are in the contract, and how an incident will be communicated. For BusinessWorks installations, Sage explicitly assigns server connection setup and maintenance to the cloud host.

France update: Sage’s acquisition of MIC’s hosting business

On 5 October 2026, Sage announced that it was acquiring Moovin’Cloud’s French migration and hosting business. Sage says the platform supports Sage 100, Sage 50, Batigest, and Génération Expert on Microsoft Azure. The announcement says environments can be deployed in as little as 30 minutes and that the platform has supported more than 5,600 hosted customer environments; these are figures reported by Sage, not independently measured performance results. The transaction excludes MIC’s separate Cloud Engineering consulting business.

Sage described France as the current focus and said no additional markets had been announced. Businesses elsewhere should not assume this offering is available in their country. French businesses should confirm operational arrangements, supported product versions, migration scope, service continuity, support ownership, and contract terms following the acquisition. See Sage’s 5 October 2026 announcement.

A practical decision path

  1. Write down the exact Sage product, edition, version, and deployment location. Include connected systems, customizations, remote-access needs, and user count.
  2. Choose the type of change. Decide whether you need cloud-native software, hosting for an existing installation, or a product-specific arrangement.
  3. Verify eligibility and geography. Ask Sage or a certified partner to confirm that the product and version are supported in your country and identify the provider operating the environment.
  4. Compare responsibility and recovery terms. Get written ownership for migration, identity, patching, connectivity, backups, tested restores, incident communication, RTO, and RPO.
  5. Plan validation and exit. Agree how users will test data, reports, integrations, and access before cutover, and how data can be exported if the arrangement ends.
