Compare Sagar Cements with other listed Indian cement companies across regional reach, utilisation and sales, EBITDA per tonne, costs, debt, cash generation, returns on capital and valuation—not installed capacity or one year’s EBITDA alone. The figures below are a FY2024–25 starting point, not a current peer ranking: use filings with the same reporting period, standalone or consolidated scope, and accounting definitions before drawing conclusions.
What does Sagar Cements’ FY2024–25 profile show?
Sagar Cements Limited is listed on the NSE as SAGCEM and on the BSE under scrip code 502090. Its FY2024–25 integrated report describes plants serving southern, central and eastern markets. It reports 10.50 MTPA of installed cement capacity, but actual utilisation and sales provide the operating context.
| Measure | Sagar Cements, FY2024–25 | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Installed cement capacity | 10.50 MTPA | Compare geography and utilisation as well as scale. |
| Capacity utilisation | 54% | Check each peer’s definition and capacity base. |
| Cement production | 55,09,572 MT | Compare volume and its year-on-year direction. |
| Cement sales volume | 55,09,147 MT | Assess realised demand and sales mix, not just production. |
| Revenue | ₹2,25,764 lakh | Confirm reporting scope before comparing. |
| EBITDA | ₹14,109 lakh | Pair with per-tonne earnings, margin and net profit. |
| EBITDA margin | 6% | Check whether peers calculate the margin on the same basis. |
| Profit after tax | (₹21,668) lakh | Trace depreciation, interest, exceptional items and tax below EBITDA. |
| Average return on capital employed | (3)% | Consider whether capital employed is generating an adequate return. |
| Total debt | ₹1,42,800 lakh | Read alongside cash, borrowing costs and debt maturities. |
| Total equity | ₹1,79,433 lakh | Do not treat equity or debt-to-equity alone as a measure of financial strength. |
| Scope 1 emissions, excluding biomass | 611 kg CO₂ per tonne of cementitious material | Compare only with aligned boundaries and calculation methods. |
| Scope 2 emissions | 34 kg CO₂ per tonne of cementitious material | Use as one input, not a proxy for overall investment quality. |
These figures are from Sagar Cements’ FY2024–25 integrated report; financial values are in ₹ lakh and operating volumes in metric tonnes. The combination of positive EBITDA and a loss after tax shows why operating earnings alone do not establish profitability or returns.

How should investors compare cement companies fairly?
Build a peer set of listed Indian cement producers and use each company’s filings to populate the same fields. For every figure, record the financial year, filing, currency and units, standalone or consolidated scope, and whether earnings are reported or adjusted. Record the capacity definition too. If the periods or bases do not match, label the limitation rather than presenting a precise-looking ranking.
#1 Best Overall
Regional footprint and realised demand
Map plant locations against the markets each company serves. Cement is a regional business: transport reach, local demand and sales mix can make two companies with similar national capacity perform differently. Compare volumes and market exposure alongside a company’s stated footprint; Sagar’s report describes its operations across southern, central and eastern India.
Capacity, utilisation and volumes
Compare installed cement and clinker capacity, utilisation, production, sales volume and the change in capacity over the period. Separate capacity already commissioned from projects still under construction. Installed capacity describes potential scale; utilisation and sales show how much of that scale is being used and sold.
Unit economics and operating costs
Where filings disclose comparable measures, assess EBITDA per tonne, realisation per tonne, power and fuel cost per tonne, and freight or logistics cost per tonne. Align the definitions and note acquisitions or one-off items that may distort a period. A margin comparison without per-tonne context can obscure differences in cost structure and sales mix.

Follow the bridge from EBITDA through depreciation, interest expense, exceptional items and tax to profit after tax. Compare EBITDA margin as well as EBITDA per tonne, but verify that companies define each measure consistently. Sagar’s FY2024–25 reported EBITDA of ₹14,109 lakh alongside a loss after tax of ₹21,668 lakh illustrates why a positive operating-earnings figure is not enough to assess the bottom line.
Debt, cash generation and debt service
Look at gross debt and net debt, borrowing cost, maturity profile and interest coverage, then compare operating cash flow, capital expenditure and free cash flow. Debt-to-equity is only one balance-sheet ratio: a useful comparison also asks whether the business generates cash to service debt and fund investment.
Returns on capital and valuation
Compare ROCE or ROIC and, where relevant, the returns expected on expansion. For valuation, EV/EBITDA can help compare operating businesses; P/E is meaningful only when earnings are positive and sufficiently representative. Anchor valuation multiples to the same share-price date and latest available financial period. Market capitalisation relative to capacity can provide secondary context, but capacity is not a substitute for earnings, cash flow or returns.

Sustainability and compliance
Compare emissions intensity, alternative-fuel and renewable-energy use, water measures and environmental liabilities where disclosed. Check reporting boundaries, especially what is included in emissions per tonne, before comparing issuers. A single environmental metric cannot stand in for a full assessment of operating or investment quality.

Why does standalone versus consolidated scope matter?
Sagar’s audited FY2024–25 NSE filing is explicitly standalone. It reports revenue from operations of ₹15,666.4 million and a net loss of ₹854.8 million. Those values differ from the broader presentation in the integrated report. Do not compare the standalone filing with a peer’s consolidated results as though both describe the same group perimeter; label the basis and use like-for-like figures where available.

Units also matter: the integrated report presents financial values in ₹ lakh, while the NSE filing figures above are in ₹ million. Convert units carefully if building a comparison, and preserve the source and scope in any table or calculation.
What should investors verify before using the figures today?
FY2024–25 is a historical comparison point, not a substitute for the latest audited financials. A search result for Sagar’s FY2025–26 annual report reports total debt of ₹1,67,199 lakh and capacity of 10.50 MTPA, but the report could not be directly inspected. Treat the debt figure as unverified until confirmed in the full report.
Sagar’s disclosure page lists documents dated June 16, 2026, concerning a draft scheme of amalgamation, including a valuation report and fairness opinion. Their listing establishes that documents exist; it does not establish final approval or implementation. Before interpreting transaction effects, check official filings for approval status, effective date, consideration and the resulting financial-statement perimeter.

Can this evidence show whether Sagar is stronger or cheaper than peers?
No. The available figures do not provide a consistent, current peer dataset or a dated valuation comparison, so they cannot support a ranking or a conclusion that Sagar is stronger, cheaper or more expensive than other cement stocks. Use the framework above to construct a like-for-like comparison from current company filings and market prices; do not turn capacity or one year’s EBITDA into an investment verdict.
